These people claim to work for Dun & Bradstreet and claim to be updating their information. Fast talking and seem illegitimate because they will not clearly explain why they need to know about our company. People like this, who bother folks who are busy will have the bad karma they deserve, visit their doorstep. Why would any humans want to behave this way? They are the scourge of the business world

A woman with an accent called requesting information about our business' supposed current address in Bridgewater.
Claimed a client wanted to do business with us and were asking for verification.
Called twice asking for someone that hasn't worked here for six years. Wanted current info to update our "ratings". Asked for email of officers.
Sounded fishy, told her to send email to a general email box not attached to any one person at work.
When I gave her the email address verbally, she asked if that was net or com. If she were really from Dunn & Bradstreet she should already have this information in the records.

I don't know if this was a phishing scam as they already had our business name and address. My red flag was when, as part of asking to update information about our business, they asked if an employee worked here- it is a non-existent person for whom we began to receive junk mail/credit offers several years ago. No one by the name has ever worked for us (we are a small business and, until last year, the only employees were my husband and myself. Now we have one employee. Anyway, when they give a name that only exists on my junk mail, I decided to get off the phone. I did not offer any information. A little internet digging and I suspect there may be a poser- there's DandB.com as well as DNB.com. We have a Dun and Bradstreet number but if their business is involved in lending and selling our information, that really makes me mad. Regardless, I saw no reason to continue the call and I don't see anywhere on their website to update our information without purchasing some report I don't need.

Oh, so sorry I will take your number off our call list. I said please DO!

Rude insistent woman called to "verify company information" I told her to use the phone book, if she is not one of our customers then please do not call to tie up our business line. would not give me her information and when I said I did not have time to give her any, she then asked to speak to HR. I'm sure our HR also told them they did not have the time to mess with them either. They have done this several times in the past few months.

The company you need to deal with is:

HOOVERS

Its a business "LEADS" telemarketing gathering "business"

I don't know if it actually works but when I called them. "the guy I talked with" said that my number will be removed.

HOOVERS # 866-679-3973
say "operator"

2 to 3 times and when the person gets on ask to have your number removed from there list or database.

I've been getting these calls for weeks. I don't usually answer but did today. 973 029 3290 is the same lady with a heavy accent using a method of constant "over-talk" to keep you on the defensive. This is typical of the new tech scamming protocol. As a business owner I've found that politely asking to be removed from their calling list doesn't work. As a novel remedy I now transmit hard core rap music when I get these calls and they never call back again.

We received multiple calls which were difficult to understand. They did end up leaving a message, which was also challenging to understand. I thought it said "linen and Bradstreet" so I began searching the number on my phone+Whippany, NJ +Bradstreet and this came up.

Both my husband and I felt the caller was extremely rude and when I asked, "what company are you calling from," there was a long pause.

Hoping these calls end immediately.

LONG PAUSE after picking up the line, and this # has called twice in the last 2 days -- they claim they are from Dun & Bradstreet and are updating my company's Business Profile and they need me to verify information. Add to all of this that they are calling my cell phone to get this information.

I am not the person who would be doing anything like this for my company -- it is VERY obviously a scam, especially since I hung up on them yesterday and they tried again today as though they had never tried me before! My company is a large Dun & Bradstreet customer, and for 'customer relations' they wouldn't have called us back in this manner.

If the call is truly from Dun & Bradstreet then why in the heck doesn't the caller ID say so. And why in the heck do they call me EVERY DAY but never leave a message. When the call goes to voicemail - they just hang up. This is not the way a legitimate business operates. As far as I am concerned - I will send every one of these calls to voicemail. If they decide to leave me a message I may call them back.

Claimed to be with Dun & Bradstreet, did give him my name but stopped when they started asking location information. I googled the number and saw it was New Jersey so I asked him where he was because I recognized the accent and he said the Phillipines which confirmed what I thought and at that point I hung up. He immediately called back and left a VM saying he was with Dun and Bradstreet and gave me a number to call back to answer some questions about my business. Came across as a phising call and from what I hear D&B is having problems mining enough business data to sell because they have become so bloated, kinda the GM of the financial world. As far as I am concerned, they do not serve a purpose for my business so I the next time they call I will be asking them to remove my number.

Number called on my cell phone and I did not answer it because I did not recognize it. I am expecting a call from D&B from a complaint I initiated and lodged with them about my info which was incorret that had been sold to a third party. However, if they call on the landline, after reading the above, I'll certainly ask an awful lot of questions to make sure the caller is responding to my complaint and not just gathering up info for resale. I will not answer a call on my cell.

You think you're doing the right thing, only to realize scammers can find the loop holes, I should not have to treat every unknown caller like a criminal but you would think if the information provided is not what they say the number itself could be blocked from use this information has been here since 2013 maybe longer and it is still active what is the purpose if no action is being taken this serve no purpose after the fact and access to the internet should not be my first line of defend against scammers. Funny how our calls can be monitor, but they(govt) can not block a number from use.

I only researched this # (973-929-3290) because it's a local northern NJ # and I thought maybe it was important. It sounded like a woman on the other end and she left an 8 second message that was nothing but dead air with a slight 'giggle' like 'hmmm' or whatever. It says above on this website somewhere that this # was working on a switch number out of Whippany. Chances are the call originated out of India, transferred to Newark, NJ and then switched over to Whippany. I get these switched calls all the time and they all trace back to some third world ghetto in India.

A woman supposedly from Dun and Bradstreet just called my work asking for information to update her system. I asked her what kind of information she needed, she said business information such as my title, blah blah blah, financial information...I'm thinking wait, what? Why would they need financial information? So, then she asked for my name and title and I kept asking her what her business does and why she needs it. She was getting flustered and said she'd call tomorrow, which she'll just get me again and I'll tell her to get lost. If a business is looking to "update" their information then they should already have information to update. I would say for any caller that's asking to update information on your business, have them tell you the information they already have and you'll correct any out of date information this'll give to time to decide if they are legit or not .
