At first it is a recording that tells you your computer has been compromised..you can call back or stay on the line and have your PC turned on so they can fix/rid you of the infection inside the pc..Then a man with a heavy accent came on the line ( India or Thailand ) and once I said I knew it was a scam and I needed their info to report them to the Police..He hung up quickly.

Robocall. Said my computer had notified them that it had been compromised and that its Windows operating system (didn't say what version they thought I was running) was now set to give out my personal and banking info before being locked down by a virus. Since I didn't bother picking up the phone, it was very insistent that I call the number provided (it repeated that I had to call them immediately after getting the message 3 times) so one of their techs could access, repair the operating system, and remove the virus.

I just laughed and blocked the number. Usually I let it go until I get a live person, then let them "walk me through" (without actually doing anything) and put on my "Clueless Wonder" hat... after they start getting frustrated that I'm not seeing what they say I should be, I tell them either 1) "oh wait! Does it matter that my computer is an Apple?", or 2) "oh wait! Does it matter if my husband has our computer running on... umm.. oh yeah, Linux, I think he said?"

They don't usually bother calling us for a few months after that. :)
