Got 2 calls from the same number, one was for Home Depot and the other was for Best Buy. Both stating that a recent credit application was filed in my name and that I should file identity protection with Citi. Called the number they said to call and got some Indian heavy accent people asking for my SSN and again pitched Citi identity protection program. Very sophisticated scam.

I received a message from a woman who addressed me by a different first name than mine (but correct first initial,) and then my correct last name. She then said that there had been an attempt to open a Home Depot credit card in my name. Coincidentally, I had been at Home Depot that morning. A call back number given was a number on my Citi bank card listed as a Deaf assistance line. When I called, I was asked for ss# or credit card number. Obviously, I hung up.
I then called Home Depot and had them check to see if an attempt to open a card really had happened. It had not. Not sure what the attempt was all about. Will continue to monitor my accounts...

Left a message for someone other than myself saying they suspected fraudulent charges on my Mastercard...I don't have a Mastercard. The guy even gave me a reference number to use when I called back. The number he gave was different than the number on the caller ID. I have alerts on my credit cards if anything looks suspicious, so by calling, these guys are scamming people!!! What a scam!!!

On Thursday, 28 December, I received a call from a woman, both at home and on my cell, from a woman who said she was with Exxon Mobil Credit Department, stating there was a security concern on my account. Her phone number was listed as originating in Jacksonville, FL, and her number was 904-954-1207. She asked me to call 888-652-8396, with reference to problem number 1536. I called the 888 number, and it was a plaintiff's attorney trolling for business. There is no strange activity on my account. I informed Exxon Mobil about this individual using your company name in what is likely to be a fraudulent manner. Thank you.

The lady on the voice mail was so quiet that I couldn't make some of it out. She wanted a call back and gave the hours they were open.

Voicemail said they were calling about a possible fraud to call back the number and give them my card number. Also, said to call number on back of my card or this one. No name given, whether it was a certain card nor was my name mentioned. No identifying info at all. What troubles me is that I had just made a purchase at Best Buy in Winchester, VA. I used my Citi card first and it was declined. Have no idea why. Other card went through and purchase was made.
