Caller name: would not provide
Pretends to be from "state of california- business development department" wanted to know if I needed office space, ha ha, the state would do that; calls repeatedy at different hours; when I asked for a return phone number they gave me someone else's number; they apparently don't understand caller ID :).
hung up when I asked for a physical address.
Caller name: Unavailable
Claimed to be from Massachusetts Business Development. Wanted to know if we had found office space, or were planning to move in the near future. I told them we had no plans to move. They said Thank You and hung up.
I get these calls weekly now.
Caller name: Natalie
She called and identified herself as calling from the State of Washington and wanted to update her records on whether or not we have moved yet. She apologized when I told her we never have and do not plan to move. After she hung up I wondered if I should have told her ANYTHING but I see now why she's asking that question. Boy, I hope she calls me again so I can give her a piece of MY MIND!
Calls our office almost every day. says they are from California Business Development or (name a city) Business Development. All they want to do is get your information to put on a list to sell it to moving companies. I keep asking them to remove us from their list. They are always rude as h**l on top of it all.
Caller name: Washington Business Development Agency supposedly
We've been getting calls from these folks for years. They pose as a state agency and try to fish for details about when we plan to relocate or sign a new lease. I think the end game is that they eventually try to offer relocation or property search services.
Most often the callers tell me that they are a private company, but this time caller actually lied and said that they were an agency with the state. That's pretty fraudulent.
I'm seeing all the other folks who have reported calls from these guys in different states and countries. The company probably has a huge database.
Just got a call from them, posing as the State of Washington Office of Business Development. She said our company was flagged as moving, and wanted to know if we had new office space yet. I asked how we were "flagged" and she said they were updating their database, and then hung up. Got a "this call cannot be completed" recording when I tried to call it back.
Caller name: Chris Anderson
Chris Anderson (very thick ethnic accent) called saying she was from the state of Massachusetts Office of Business Development, asking if our office is still planning to move or if we've found a new location. Would not give me her number. Hung up abruptly when I told her we're not moving or looking.
Caller name: Saray?
This person just called me said she was from the Commonweath of Pennsylvania. She asked if we were still looking to move, when I told her I didn't know what she was talking about and I wasn't authorized to give out buisniess info (even though I am...) she asked me again, when I asked her why she needed to know she got all nasty with me and goes "Uggggh" and hangs up the phone...
Caller name: Brenda
They keep calling all the time, and they have no sense of humour... They pretend to call from the "Quebec Bureau of I dont remind what", and they dont have french operators. lol. In my opinion, they try to get infos on key persons like VPs, and sell that information to other companies... The only things I havent tried yet to get rid of them is fire and acid...
Caller name: Irene
I received a phone call today from that number and the caller claimed she was calling from the state of florida business development department and asked me where we were moving and whether we were still looking for a space. I asked several times whether she was calling from the government or she was trying to solicit something and she repeatedly said she was calling from the government, yet, she wouldn't give me a call back number until I questioned her honesty then she gave me 8006687700. I called that number and it was a software company not the state of florida. Is there a way to report those crooks?
Caller name: Ideal Fence
Have received several calls from this number stating that they are with the State of Illinois wanting to know if we were moving our office. Asked for call back number and was told that they were not allowed to give that number out. What can be done? They continue to call.
Caller name: Dennis Wilson from State of CA Department of Business Development
He called to ask if our business had found a new location or if would be moving soon. When I said I didnt know but I could call back with the information he repeatedly said they are only calling to update their records and cannot take incoming calls. When I reminded him that ANYBODY can "say" they are calling from the State of CA and I would like to call back with the correct information being requested he asked for my email to provide me with the call back number and kept insisting that he wanted my "estimate" move date.
Caller name: Joshua
Told me they were from design group and wanted to know if we have moved our office yet. I SEE MOST OF YOU HAVE SAID THE SAME THING. Whats the deal? What are they looking for. Somebody is paying these people. What is the gain for them?
Caller name: California Business Development
Claimed to be from California Business Development. Immediately hung up because it was an unsolicited phone call. Called right back and could not even get my address correct and when I told them I was not interested in what they had, either a lady or some guy with a femy voice persisted to talk. Hung up on them and they called back 3 more times, each time going to VM and they would not leave a message.
Caller name: ??
I've received several calls from this number but have never answered - the caller ID shows it's from DC, as in Washington DC. Everyone posting here needs to realize that this is a government "surveillance" operation known as "organized stalking." It is unclear as to why this is going on, but it is said to be part of a population control program. Is it real? I don't know, but what I do know is that since I've began receiving calls from this number, strange things have started to happen. It is as though strangers know my every move and are listening to my conversations. It's bizarre and unnerving. Has anyone else experienced strange things? Loosened hubcaps, strange looks by random people, credit card trouble, among other things. I have blocked this number since so I shouldn't get anymore calls. It is time US citizens open their eyes to greater security risks and privacy matters...due to our own government. Sad.
Caller name: Unkwn
Received a phone call today from that number and the caller claimed she was calling from the state of florida business development department and asked if the company were moving and whether we were still looking for a space. I asked several times what city she was calling from, she kept re-instating our local city and state of Texas. Terminated the call after the first warning. Fishing for information on the company owner and its employees. This was not an offical call from any government agency.
Caller name: Would not say
Stated that they were with the State of Oregon. Then asked several questions about our facility and if we were planning to move. When I would not answer her she proceeded to get angry with me and say that the state needs this information and their report is due today. I told her that I would be happy to fill out the state form if she could provide me with the form. I also let her know that she was more the welcome to fax the form to me and let me know which state agency she was with so I could return it and verify the validity of this request and she hung up.
This "company" has called me repeatedly for several days now. They claim to be with the Illinois Business Department and that they are updating the business records for the area.
They want to know when we are moving our office - which we are considering. I won't give them a time frame and they get very pushy. I hung up on the caller the first time after he refused to accept my answer. He then called back and said we got disconnected. I told him that we did not get disconnected and that I had nothing further to say and hung up again. I immediately received another call from his "supervisor" claiming again that they need information on when we are moving - a general timeframe is fine - 3 months, 6 months, a year? I finally got her to accept that I would not give her a timeframe.
Now when they call they hang up as soon as they realize they've spoken with me before - and I'm the only one who answers this phone, so they're never going to get someone else.
Said they were from the Alberta government business development office and did we move recently? What is your new address? I hung up. As if the government makes calls like that - especially from a non-Alberta area code. Scammers.
Caller name: Missouri Business Asso
Calls all the time & when I ask to be taken off the list the hang up before you can get please out. Very annoying. Who are these people. I got the # off caller ID & when you dial it it says # can not be completed as dialed.
Received several calls from this number claiming they were from the State of NJ and wanted to know if we were relocating. I said why would the state want to know that. Right! She proceeded to get very nervous and hung up. I dialed the number back and it said unable to connect to that number. Someone should do something about these people harrassing businesses.
Claimed, with an Indian accent, that they were calling from the State of AZ Commerce Department asking if we were staying in our office or moving. I was hung up on when I told them to mail my business something official to the address on our business license and we will fill it out.
Caller name: "Name Not Found"
Got a call from this number today. CID popped up "Name Not Found". Caller identified himself as calling from the State of Illinois Economic something or other. Caller asked if we had moved or were still looking to move. We are not looking to move our office, never had. I told this to the guy & I promptly hung up.
I love these forums; I google weird phone numbers just to see what others have experienced.
Said they were the City of Seattle Business something-or-other. Sounded official, except for the call-center noise in the background. A pain in the neck - have received plenty of calls from them in the past. They ask if we are still looking for a new location, when people would be moving there, how many people.
Now I know they aren't official, I will just hang up. Or ask some questions and get THEM to hang up. ;)
Caller name: not given
Caller claims to be with the Minnesota Bsns Development Office and asks if we have plans to move in the next XX months. The problem here is the last time they called I actually called THE actual MN Bsns Development Office to ask about it and they are not originating the calls. They are extremely frustrated that this call which is NOT from them keeps happening which puts them in a negatively light unfairly!
I'm almost positive that any information given to this caller will end up getting our company on a call list for vendors of Phone, Movers, etc who will then inundate you with more calls. So Do NOT give the caller any info at all or you'll be sorry. I think we did and now we are getting all sorts of calls from vendors. Yuck.
These guys have wasted so much of my time for Three years !!
I got creative and logged their number into my phone system, prepared a recording for when they called next. It informed them their physical location had successfully been logged into a criminal database and would be contacted by a enforcement representative shortly. They hung right up on me . Fingers crossed.... Second day: This seems to have worked.
Who know what these idiots are thinking now. Hope they are running.
Caller name: California Business Agency
I don't know why these folks haven't been put out of business. They pose as a government entity. It's a sham to collect information.
After telephone numbers and pitches they use get flagged on the web, they get new numbers and new pitches.
Caller name: Couldn't understand
I knew when they first called they really were not from the State of MO. I hung up. They called back and asked me why I hung up on them and asked for my supervisor. Of course they couldn't tell me what the capital of MO is...even though they are calling from there. They got frustrated and hung up.
Caller name: melisa
They called claiming they are "state business development office of California" Her name is Melisa and she hasn't stopped calling me about "moving to our new location." I asked to speak to her higher up and she said "no problem" and hung up. Can i take action? What do i do?
Caller name: ami
Call the church where I work and pretend to be with state of texas, when I remark about the area code, she says she is on skype. Wants to know if we have a location and when I refuse to give her information she hangs up. Call several days later. I told her I recognize her voice from her 'state of texas' call. She says no, this is a personal call. When I ask her name she tell me amy weisenberg so I then asked her to spell it. She says A-M-I and when I asked her to spell her last name she says W-I-T-B-R-G (super slooooow). When I say, nope, that isnt how you spell that and you need to take us off your calling list, she told me F--- You, then kept calling back and jamming both of our lines....
People who are getting calls from this number. If someone calls you and you are with AT&T, try punching in *60 immediately after you get such a call and put in the number. Just follow the prompts that you are given. This will also block any other annoying or pesky calls, supposedly.
There is also a number you can call to report annoyance calls, but I don't have it handy.
If possible, use *69 to find out the number that just called you (if you don't have Caller ID).
I hope this helps.
You are so right. THIS nation is asleep and the Trojan horse is being unloaded.
