Received an automated call from a "spoofed" local number with instructions to call regarding a complaint filed against you (does not identify who you is) just a non specific threat that you are being investigated as to your level of involvement. I did some research and learned this scam has been going on for awhile..

Several times a week I get automated calls, the caller ID is spoofed and they leave a recording on your voice mail telling you that you are under investigation, they are going to contact your job, verify your assets. They claim federal law prohibits them from disclosing the nature off the call and urge you to call them back at 877 297 2962. This reeks of either SCAM or illegal debt collection.

When will these calls be put to an end? Although I do not fall prey to these types of misleading scare tactics, I know there are thousands, if not millions of people who are taken advantage of through these types of calls. This particular Robo Call does not say what they're calling about. This call stated, and I quote, "We're making another attempt to contact you from FPB (or SPB) Consumer Processing Division. Since we have no record of you making contact to our offices prior, we do need to inform you that we will be reaching out to your references, which may include, but are not limited to, your relatives, friends, or coworkers. We will be informing them of their level of involvement in this inquiry, if any. Once again, your verbal statement is requested to help complete this inquiry. Please contact our offices at 1-877-297-2962. Thank you for your time." End of Quote
You might notice that the recording doesn't mention who it is they're trying to reach for their "inquiry"! It just sickens me to know that many people fall for these calls, including many people in our elderly population. This call is threatening in my opinion! I hope something can be done to stop this.

I started receiving the calls from an Alabama numbers 205-533-7127 and 334-5398192 on last week. The scammers are calling my cellphone and work #. The calls have escalated this week to include a threatening message about contacting co-workers, friends and family members. They can go right ahead. I'm not falling victim to their scam tactics. I really feel for the elderly and college students.

Have had several calls from FPB or SPB Consumer Processing Division leaving a recording same as everyone else here. Most recent one says they will be reaching out to my references which may include relatives, friends, coworkers to inform them of their involvement if any. They want us to call back and give a statement or something. If this was legit, they should send a letter, not a robocall.
At least three of the calls were from 978-393-4047.

I received a voice mail, then googled the name left. It sounded very fishy too me, as a debt collector will read your their script "this is an attempt to collect a debt" and this recording is very vague in facts and is trying to leave the recipient with a since of urgency and fear. Know your rights and facts. The debt collector will always verify your information and by law has to state the nature of the call. They do not threaten to call your family, employer, strip your 401K, take your assets, etc. BE SMART!!! Do NOT let them mess with your mind!
