Obviously it is a fraud and i'm sure some of those posting on here are associated with said fraudulent activity. I am reporting this to the local RCMP for action. I am not behind on any of my payments or accounts so why would they be calling me three to four times a day? Number is now blocked and will be handed over to RCMP/CSIS to track down the criminal a******s involved...only a fool would give out private account information to an unknown phone number...

Got a call this morning twice in 20 mins. I always search weird numbers I don't know too get an idea... and it said 99% fake... so I decided to call my credit card company which is obviously CIBC but the number on the back of the card and they said they never tried reaching me and its not them looking for past payments... so who they are, is beyond me... I can definetly say its not CIBC Visa looking for past payments, I would say IGNORE IT... probably identity theft scam

This is indeed a fraudulent call as confirmed by CIBC and the RCMP. According to the RCMP the fraudster uses a spoofer to have it appear as a real CIBC number and then in the message asks you to call another number.

According to CIBC they will never ask you to verify information over the phone through a computer, it will always be a real person. If you get a call or voicemail asking you to call them back at the above number, call the RCMP Anti-Fraud line and report it, as well it would do you good to put a fraud alert on your account.

Therefore I can guarantee you this is not a legitimate CIBC representative and would NOT provide any information. The reason they are hanging up is because I answer with our company name....BEWARE!

This is ABSOLUTELY NOT A CIBC NUMBER! It's a phishing scam to get your personal info. I called CIBC from their telephone baking number and they said that 1-877-275-3961 is NOT a valid CIBC number so whoever Max above there thinks he talked to, it wasn't fscking CIBC. Beware people.

Recieved 24 calls today from this number.Called it back to see who it was got the pre recorded operator welcome to cibc.If u actually listen to the recording its not the same womens voice that says press 1 also when it says it in french its a different women then the english one.You call cibc you can tell the difference.I called cibc visa and was told there was no calls made to me at all.If there was it would be logged on file. Also if they are to call it would be a live operator they leave no messages. They call twice. If they cant reach you doesnt matter what department they will send you a message to your inbox on your online banking to contact them. Also cibc uses there number for all departments that is on the back of your card.If they call it will come up the same number on the back of it.They will not use another number do to security issues and due to the scams. Also these ppl claiming to say its cibc are more then likely people that are scamming others saying its a legit number to get you to call back and give them your info its what a scammer would do.Further more when I called in today there was some wierd transaction on my card.this person tryed to run my card trying to withdraw $0.00 dollars twice.Fraud hotline said the transaction wouldnt go through due to the person not having my card expire date. This was the same day of these 24 calls from this cibc number. If the card bounces back its legit this fake cibc calls u to get ur card expire date now that they know its legit. So beware of people on here saying its a legit number. There more then likely the scammers in couraging you to call it.Be safe and good luck

I have read the comments above and coming from working in an agency, cibc outsources its past due accounts to third party agencies.thats a collection agency, and they are told that they are to be calling from cibc, some cell phones default setting is to label all toll free numbers as coming from the states. What bothers me is they don't send a letter, they start calling, and yes they do use a dialer, agencies and CIBC, why do you think you get so many in one day. They can call you 10 times a day if they like so long as they don't leave a message. What i can say is that you can answer the calls from this number, but simply tell them to cease desist all calls, only contact you in writing. Get the full name of the person on the phone, if they refuse, take note of the time and day you spoke with them, and then tell them your filing a complaint with the CRTC for using an unregistered number on an automatic dialing system, furthermore, ask for a complete record of call history. because crtc will need it,

As a rule, I don't answer calls from 877 numbers unless I'm specifically expecting something. I've received 15 calls in the last 5 days from this number, including today. They finally left a voice mail today saying "call back to win a prize, this is not a sales call", which sounds like a scam to me. How can I have my phone number removed from their list?

Always an automated voice prompting to press #1 on dial pad, either leaves this message or announces when call is picked up. Never follow through! Hang up and initiate your own call to CIBC instead if you are unsure.

Sometimes leaves a message asking for me by name, sometimes not. When I answer, I have to press 1 or 2 for English or French. After that, OTHER NUMBERS AS WELL. This is as far as I go. If it was CIBC and the call was important, there would be a live person at the other end ready to speak to me as soon as I answer.
This is a scammer or phishing call.

So much misinformation and hastily drawn conclusions... I can understand why people are wary in this age of scams and identity theft, but this is a legitimate CIBC number. I was getting several calls per day from this number but did not answer. Instead, I called the CIBC customer service number on the back of my access card and they verified that this is indeed a valid no. When I pressed the bank rep to reveal the reason for the calls, he admitted there was a problem with the account of someone who registered our telephone no. as a contact number.

We hire temporary foreign workers for our business. They have bank accounts with CIBC and they use our tel no.. Due to privacy regulations, the bank rep was not allowed to divulge the details of the issue, but he acknowledged there was a problem with the account of one of our worker's. He kindly asked that I instruct the worker to call the Bank to resolve the issue.

This is not a scam. The Bank is not phishing for information, they only want to restore the account in question to good standing. For security reasons, they need to ask certain questions to verify you are the person they are trying to contact. If they call you, it's because there is an issue with your account or the account of someone in your household. It is in your best interest to answer.

They've been calling my cell 3 times a day for the past couple weeks. I can't answer while I'm at work and they won't leave a message. If there's an issue, CIBC in the past has left recorded vague messages requesting me to contact them if I couldn't answer, so this is a red flag to me. I just blocked them because this is nonsense.
