"Linda" called and left a message to call this number. When I called, they asked my name, I gave it to him. Then he asked for my credit card number, I said no, that you called me. Then he asked for my account number, I again said no, then he asked for my social security number, again I said no, that you called me. He asked my name again, and I said that I told him at the beginning of the phone call and told him my name again. He asked for my phone number, (which caller ID would tell him) so I gave him my phone number, and he asked for my zip code which I also gave him (he could tell the area my phone number came from anyway). Then he said that my name wasn't the reason they called. I said maybe it was for one of my children, was this an advertisement? He just repeated that it wasn't for my name. Then I said goodbye and hung up. I then looked up the number on the internet and found similar requests were made of other people...I think this is a scam.
DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY INFORMATION!! THIS IS A SCAM!!! Just got off the phone with Capital One and they assured me this number is not connected to them at all. Although it sounds pretty real with the " Thank you for calling Capital One" and "This call may be recorded," this is a scam to get your information. If you ever call a credit card company they should never ask you your full social security number or your full card number. They should already have it. The people at the 866-953-7906 number get pretty irritated when you tell them that too. If you have any questions about your account call the number listed on the Capital One website.
Calls over and over and over and fills up my voicemail box every single day with this pre-recorded message that says "Hi this is Linda, we have some opportunities that could be available to you at Capital One, please call me back at 1-800-955-66002 to discuss them thank you" Yes I know there are too many numbers in the call back information but it is the same message everytime!!!! In response to the people saying that they are a collection agency, I owe nothing and don't have a capital one account and never have.
Whoever LINDA is She's been calling me every single day leaving me messages to call back regarding a "solution" to my capital one card... I do have a capital one card however everything is up to date I don't owe them anything. and it just seems weird that if it actually was a collection agency why wouldn't a real person call and try to get a hold of you rather than try to have me call them back!
I received several calls/voice mails from 800-955-6600 on my cell phone while in the ER waiting for a family member to have emergency open-heart surgery. The caller identified herself as LINDA with Capital One, stated that it was imperative that she speak to me TODAY regarding important account issues and provided the call back number of 8666-953-7906. I called back - upset that there might be suspicious activity or something on the card. They identified themselves as being with Capital One and "this call may be recorded". The guy picking up asked for my account number - I said I did not have the card with me and what was this all about. He required my name, social security #, and DOB to verify the account info since I didn't have the card. He said the account was in good standing (no s**t Sherlock, so why are you calling me?) and said that these calls go out to delinquent accounts and that he would note the account not to call my number anymore. I thought about it for a few minutes and decided to call the actual Capital One customer service number to verify I did not just give my info to scammers. They verified that the number WAS accurate (the rep called both the number on the caller ID and the one provided in the message) but said that they would NEVER ask for the full social or that kind of information. She also said there was no record of outbound calls. The rep then placed a fraud alert on my account and cancelled the card to re-issue a new one. She also opted me out of outbound calls but said it would take 30 days for that to become effective. I honestly do no know if this is a valid number or not - but my advice is that if you receive calls from either of those numbers, contact Capital One directly with the numbers they have provided on their website to speak with customer service.
I get calls from this phone number at least twice a day. Several times I answered and got hung up on. Several times they called when I was a work and my mom would answer the phone and she would tell them to leave a message and they would hang up on get. They have left several voice messages the caller stating her name is Linda. I've never returned their voice messages. I do have a Capital One account, but it's all good.
Very definitely a scam. I do have a CapitalOne account, but (1) there's nothing wrong with the account, and (2) the phone number I'm getting the calls on is not the number that CapitalOne has on file, but a Magic Jack number that I've never given to anyone, and don't even use.
I've been getting these calls daily for a couple of months now. I have little doubt that CapitalOne would not piss off a model customer like that. Ignore these calls.
