I called Capital One to verify if this is actually a Capital One number. They verified it is NOT a Capital One number. Don't give them any information.

Caller name: LINDA

I received several calls/voice mails from 800-955-6600 on my cell phone while in the ER waiting for a family member to have emergency open-heart surgery. The caller identified herself as LINDA with Capital One, stated that it was imperative that she speak to me TODAY regarding important account issues and provided the call back number of 8666-953-7906. I called back - upset that there might be suspicious activity or something on the card. They identified themselves as being with Capital One and "this call may be recorded". The guy picking up asked for my account number - I said I did not have the card with me and what was this all about. He required my name, social security #, and DOB to verify the account info since I didn't have the card. He said the account was in good standing (no s**t Sherlock, so why are you calling me?) and said that these calls go out to delinquent accounts and that he would note the account not to call my number anymore. I thought about it for a few minutes and decided to call the actual Capital One customer service number to verify I did not just give my info to scammers. They verified that the number WAS accurate (the rep called both the number on the caller ID and the one provided in the message) but said that they would NEVER ask for the full social or that kind of information. She also said there was no record of outbound calls. The rep then placed a fraud alert on my account and cancelled the card to re-issue a new one. She also opted me out of outbound calls but said it would take 30 days for that to become effective. I honestly do no know if this is a valid number or not - but my advice is that if you receive calls from either of those numbers, contact Capital One directly with the numbers they have provided on their website to speak with customer service.

Don't know who they are because they will not leave a message but when you call back the telephone number is answered as Capital One.

I have no accts with Capitol One, so I went to my call rejection and they had a different number for these folks scamming at this number.
the numbers are
866-953-7906 & 800-955-6600
Maybe someone should begin calling them at THEIR REAL number???

Very definitely a scam. I do have a CapitalOne account, but (1) there's nothing wrong with the account, and (2) the phone number I'm getting the calls on is not the number that CapitalOne has on file, but a Magic Jack number that I've never given to anyone, and don't even use.

I've been getting these calls daily for a couple of months now. I have little doubt that CapitalOne would not piss off a model customer like that. Ignore these calls.

They call at least 10 to 12 times a day. If you answer they hang up. If you call back they hang up or it it busy. It says on caller id it is Capital One. I'm going to file charges through the BBB.

Robocall left on my machine: "Hi this is Linda. We would like to discuss solutions regarding an important business matter with CapitalOne. Please call us back today at 1-866-953-7906 to discuss it further. Again the number is 1-866-953-7906. Thank you." Contacted capitalone and they said if 866-953-7906 isn't on their website contact pages, then it's not a capitalone number. Couldn't find 866-953-7906 on capitalone.com so this is a scam call. I think this scam works on you believing you've been called by the real capitalone (and you have not), you call 866-953-7906 back (and you should not), they ask you for an account number to look up what the important business matter is all about, then they ask you for personal info to verify that you are the legit owner of the account number you just gave them. Don't fall for it or the scammers will steal your money and possibly your ID, and unless you're a very important client, capitalone will likely not replace your stolen money. Why not? Because you, not capitalone, were negligent in volunteering your data to a scammer. Ain't capitalone's fault.

This number always comes up on my caller ID as unknown and I can't block it. It calls me every dang day and leaves the same message. The same message you guys are posting. Linda from Capital One. I have capital one accounts, but whenever they've called me in the past its a personal call and not a machine. This is obviously a scam call and it's very aggravating.

Calls over and over and over and fills up my voicemail box every single day with this pre-recorded message that says "Hi this is Linda, we have some opportunities that could be available to you at Capital One, please call me back at 1-800-955-66002 to discuss them thank you" Yes I know there are too many numbers in the call back information but it is the same message everytime!!!! In response to the people saying that they are a collection agency, I owe nothing and don't have a capital one account and never have.

I've been receiving calls from this number multiple times a day with voicemail messages. They always leave always half a voicemail as if the beginning were cut off. My capital one acct is in good standing and I was ready to call them back when I found out I never gave them the cell number they had been calling every day. Seems like a scam to me!

"Linda" called and left a message to call this number. When I called, they asked my name, I gave it to him. Then he asked for my credit card number, I said no, that you called me. Then he asked for my account number, I again said no, then he asked for my social security number, again I said no, that you called me. He asked my name again, and I said that I told him at the beginning of the phone call and told him my name again. He asked for my phone number, (which caller ID would tell him) so I gave him my phone number, and he asked for my zip code which I also gave him (he could tell the area my phone number came from anyway). Then he said that my name wasn't the reason they called. I said maybe it was for one of my children, was this an advertisement? He just repeated that it wasn't for my name. Then I said goodbye and hung up. I then looked up the number on the internet and found similar requests were made of other people...I think this is a scam.

I've been getting calls from Linda for 2 days and could not for the life of me figure out what they were calling about. I checked this website and found that people are reporting it as a fraudulent call from Capital One. I checked my Capital One accounts (I have 2), and low and behold I had missed a payment in May (Oops)! I never miss a payment! So, I made my payment on line as I always do. Bottom line, I never called "Linda" back so I have no idea if this is a scam, but I was in fact behind a month on my Capital One account.
