Caller name: Mary Ann Robertson
Caller type: Unknown
Could be a debt collector.
Some agencies allow their people to leave voice messages. Federal law & HIPPA say otherwise.
We aren't allowed.
Only way to find out is to call the number. Listen to the mandatory QA "This is *my name* with *company name* & this call is being recorded for quality and compliance purposes."
Then you have the name of the company. From there it's your choice wether to verify your name & complete mailing address. At this point the person is required to give the "Mini Miranda." This tells you exactly why they are calling.
You have the right to tell them to "cease and desist" = stop calling. They have to stop. Otherwise it's harassment and you can sue.
If the debt is old --- don't offer to make payments. You can start the clock on the statute of limitations again & the client can sue.
Once you know who's calling, you can apply a C & D and figure out how to resolve the issue from there -- at your pace.
Hope this helps.
