Caller name: Mrs. Franklin

Caller type: Prison/Jail Collect Call

I have spoken with this company many of times. They go by UFF also United financial services and United financial mediation services out of Atlanta Georgia. Through the last 6 months they have been on my back telling me to pay for this written check that was bad and fraudulent. I took out a payday loan with a company for $300. They now say it is $1734. I have called the company it is with and they have never and will never try to put you in jail for this. People we need to help and try to find out who this company is before they really hurt someone. They will give you an address but when you google it its not theirs. Call the federal trade commission and turn them in.
They have threatened to come to my house and as always I invited them to step foot on my property with the knowledge they will be SHOT on the spot. This company is a scam, they are dangerous people in their own.
I also would like to teach everyone a few things here today. Back in the day collection companies could send you to jail for not paying debts but that has not been the case for years. Do not believe them. They cant do a thing to you. Secondly, I used to manage a check into cash in 2009 and will tell you that payday advance companies will send you to collections but it is inside collections and they don't add on interest.
No one should have to go through this at all. I tried to call the federal trade commission but because of the government shutdown they are off. So we are even more at risk right now. If they do call you feel free to do what I do and have some fun with it. Ask them questions and read them poems do whatever it is that you do but don't stress.

Caller name: Don't remember

Caller type: Debt Collector

I got a call routed through a local number, but they wanted me to call back at 866-267-9585. This "local number" routing is a new thing. These collection agencies have figured out that people won't pick up unknown 800 calls, so they make it look like a local call. But I never pick up any call if I don't recognize the number. The male caller was very rude, demanding I return the call immediately. He didn't leave any threats on the voicemail, I'm sure he was waiting for me to call back for that. But I learned long ago to never, ever, ever return any of the calls - ever. You can't block your phone number when you return an 800 call, so once you call back, they've got you. But if you never call back, they do, eventually give up and move on to someone else. Just a few other things everyone should know: 1) There is no such thing as debtors prison. These people have no authority or ability to get you arrested or even get a warrant issued. All debt is a civil issue - and not a criminal matter, which means, at best, they could try and take you to court to get a civil judgment. But that is a long, drawn out and expensive a process - which almost never goes in their favor. Judges tend to side with the individual and against the collection agency. And they're usually trying to collect some small amount (less that 5000.00) of money; and it would cost them almost half of that to bring it to court. 2) They can't do anything to your driver's license or your social security card - anything else for that matter. The three major credit bureaus won't even post anything negative on your credit report its regarding some payday or cash advance loan. There are just too many scams out there with these types of collections, so they wont' accept or post anything from them - good or bad. 3) All they can do is harass you by phone, so you could change your phone number ( and have it unlisted) and then they can't bother you. If they get a hold of your work number or the numbers of friends or family, just tell them to hang up and don't give out any information on you. 4) There is a statute of limitations on these things. If they haven't been able to get you to pay them after two years (24 months), the debt goes away. By which, I mean, they can't even take you to court on it. They can still call and make threats, but they have no legal standing after two years. But this is only true if you haven't paid them anything during that time period. If you make even one "good faith" payment of some small amount, the clock starts all over again. So if you know that the last time you made any payment on the debt was more than 2 years ago, tell them to go pound sand! Tell them to go ahead and take you to court and sue you! You can also tell them that you know the statue of limitations is up on collecting that debt and you have no intention of paying them anything. They may rant and rave and swear that you're wrong, but they will also probably go away and leave you alone after that. I hope this was helpful.

This company is a total and complete scam and a LIE! I called them back and asked for their address which they refused to provide telling me "it is a business". If it were a legitimate business they would give me their address. If they were a legitimate "collection business" they would be able to provide some level of proof that I "owe money" which by the way they have to under the law. If they were legitimate, they would not be threatening me with criminal actions etc. I would simply receive something in the mail. I would advise anyone who receives one of these calls to report them to your state attorney general's office and the US Dept of Consumer Affairs.

Called my work looking for someone I know. Said he had criminal activities associated with his social security number and drivers license. She DID have the last four digits of his social correct. She said if he did not call then a warrant would be issued for his arrest. I have been through this with a similar scam before so I immediately google the phone number.... glad to know you can see all these posts. It IS a scam, no one will show up at your work, it is annoying but they will eventually go away. Write down the number and NEVER answer the calls. It usually is related to advance payday loans - which I did have and he did too - but all of the threats are nothing more than that!!! JUST IGNORE

Had a message for someone with a name very similar to my daughter's name. Caller said it was a legal matter and that I had to call immediately. I called and asked for the extension. The woman who answered was EXTREMELY RUDE when I wouldn't share my name. I said I was returning a call. She hung up on me. I called again and got through to "Mrs. Green." I told her there was nobody by that name, but because she had called my home I wanted an explanation of the problem in writing. She proceeded to start screaming at me. Literally wouldn't stop. Then hung up om me. Amazing. What a scam. There are truly evil people in this world.

After calling and leaving a message for someone that I've never heard of on my cell phone, I called back and was screamed at and told to talk to myself because the woman was hanging up. I then called asking for a supervisor, she proceeded to ask me if I had anything in her office with my name on it... I told her I was getting calls for someone else and that they had the wrong number. She started asking me very aggressively why I was calling back then. I was hung up on shortly after.

Called me and said I owed $1700 on a cashnet loan. That was $1000 in interest they added to my original $735 owed. They also said they would have me arrested and my license and ss# was at risk. I needed to pay them over the phone right then and there-which i declined. I have just emailed Cashnet's collection dept to see if they are truly scammers or one of there people. Either way its illegal for them to say those things and I will talk with the federal trade commission either way.

This idiot called me from the same number as above, leaving a very condescending message for someone I know. I called back and told him I didn't appreciate the message and he'd better NEVER call my number again. At which point he proceeded to call me names, make "your mother" insults, and said he would call me all day long every day and started calling repeatedly. Mr. Darden called my son advising him that he was calling about me and that I had an outstanding debt. He explained to my son that he had co-signed for this debt. He advised my son that he had done a background criminal check on him and me and he was in the clear for responsibility for this debt and of being arrested and prosecuted. He advised my son to give me the info and phone number to call him ASAP.

I called the phone # and someone by the name of Josey Willis answered the phone without a company name. I asked for ext. 316...Mr. Darden answered the phone...I gave him my name and the case # he left with my son. Of course, he said he could not look up the info by the case # and ask me to hold on while he go across the hall and find the info as they have 1000's of cases...he was back on the phone in less then 20 seconds...pretty fast for having to go thru 1000's of files. Her then proceeded to tell me that I owed for a payday loan, never giving me the original amount I supposely owed, but that the interest and amount needed to be paid was over $2900.00. He stated it could be cleared up right then if I made the payment....if not, a warrant would be issued for my arrest and that the amount then to pay would escalate to over $4900.00 with legal fees and court cost, I asked if I could set up payment arraignments and he said no...pay now or a warrant would be issued for my arrest. I told him I would call him back which I had no intentions of doing. I did call back after hours and a recording answered asking for the extension I wanted..so I dialed the extension...a recording answered "This is Mr. Darden, Senior Abritrator for UFF." I have tried to research UFF online with success.

He was recording the conversation which he failed to advise me of and my cell # showed up in his caller ID because now he is calling me every day with threats of being arrested.

When he called this morning, Saturday, April 06, 2013, I did not answer because I did not recognize the number.. The number that showed up on my phone was 404-991-2268...he left a message advising me to call him back at 866-267-9585 et. 316.
