- they called my brother and asked for me. i don't know how they got my brother's phone number? they did not state their business, they just wanted to speak to me and when my brother asked if he can take a MSG or at-least now the name of the company and the nature of the call they wouldn't tell him. i will go legal if they call again.
Don't take any calls from this number: They ask questions after questions and then more questions. They want your information so they take your money.
I told them the first time they called to send me a letter. They didn't send any letter but called back saying they had mailed me a letter explaining why they are calling. There is no letter, because it's a scam.
Don't answer the call and for sure, don't give them any information, not even your name!
These scam artists called FOUR times in ONE day (today) -- I left my phone off the hook -- and checked periodically for any messages -- did this twice, and it was two calls each time with no messages.
The first call was at 10:30am, and the 4th at 7:22pm! I NEVER give out our home phone to ANYBODY -- we are on "Do Not Call" since day 1, and usually if one leaves a phone off the hook, the calls stop eventually.
If a person's dumb enough to answer, of course they know your name -- it's public info if you co-own a home (like my hubby & I do), so, naturally they'll ask for the female half, as many women are intimidated or easier to coerce into giving money that isn't due.
RULE #1 -- NEVER answer your home phone, especially if you don't expect anyone to call, and you don't recognize the number. Should you answer the phone, SAY NOTHING -- your voice activates the response on the other end -- usually a live person, if it's an auto dial system. JUST HANG UP.
I also have a pay-as-you-go phone -- rarely do I receive such calls.
They've called me twice on my personal cellphone and I believe once at work within three days. Two of these calls in the same day. I didn't pick up my cellphone to answer them but there was no message left. I figure if it was important there would at least be that, right? They called my work asking for me with my maiden name. When they were put on hold so whoever answered could come get me, they hung up. There was nothing about who they were or what they wanted.
This person called asking for my father, stating it was a private matter for him only. I told him I would have to take a message and have him call back. The man said his name was "Scott" and got nasty with me. Needless to say, he was told not to call again and got hung up on.
Didn't answer call but called back and the person answering the phone had an accent (possibly Nigerian or Middle Eastern) and started with something to the effect of "...This is ----, call may be recorded for customer service. Whom am I speaking to? Hello?" I didn't reply and just hung up.
Called me 3 times back to back to back. literally 3 calls in 2 minutes. Called the number back making sure it wasn't an emergency or something that a family member was calling from. gentlemen answered and said the companies name. Was a bunch of initials, I asked again who this was and what it was about. He rattled off a bunch of letters then asked if I was some lady, never met or heard of the lady in my life. I never usually answer or call back but when I get a call 3 times in a row and within a minute or 2 usually I check it to make sure it isn't a family emergency. Cant stand this kind of stuff!!!
From what I discovered it is a collection agency. However they will not tell you anything when you ask so I reported them to the Federal Trade Commission. Definitely don't give information to them if they refuse to answer YOUR questions.
