I keep receiving a call from 1 855 420 3240 claiming to be BMO.
I keep saying hello and after a while a person comes on and actually knows my name. I discontinued the call, by saying you have the wrong number, to see if they would call back. I'm over 70 years old now, and in ill health. I have had both my MC and Bank Card compromised, in the past. Is this number associated with BMO and if so why are they calling me? Why do they take so long to begin to talk?
Well Folks, you are now the victims of these scam artists with various numbers when they call you. They use various other numbers to call your phone number to verify that your number is active, and to transmit your number to other scammers that will call you for all kinds of stuff. As far as I know the best way to get rid of these annoying and Phishing calls, is to file an official complaint with your local authorities i.e.. FBI, FTC, Homeland securety, the CIA, and other agencies if you are in the US.
In Canada, contact the CRTC , RCMP, CISIS etc.
Report them soon as the phone number will change again.
This is a third party Telemarketing company hired by BMO to sell life insurance etc. on their behalf. Not BMO or whatever else they are trying to sell you, just another telemarketing company trying to sell you products on behalf of someone else. If they keep calling you, I would suggest calling them at the source ie. BMO, and voice your complaint.
Here a re a few numbers to reach them, GOOD LUCK!
and the list keeps growing!
Call them and voice your opinion, takes a few minutes to get through, and let them know what you think of their Marketing technics.
Just a heads up for you. I recommend you call them every time they call you :-)
A man called that I could barely understand and said he was from Windows technical support calling about a problem with my windows. I told him this was impossible because I don't own a computer. I asked him how he received my cell number and he became agitated. I told him not to call me back and hung up. This is the second crazy call I have reported in two weeks.
i have received a couple of calls from this number... today i asked questions. The foreign man with a very heavy middle eastern accent told me he was calling from windows tech support. Hmmm... (red flag) He then continued to tell me about some errors to my computer from downloading, from the past FEW weeks. FEW weeks???? I had asked him this few weeks question several times, he would reply the same thing, "yes miss, the past FEW weeks"
Finally i was so angered and knew it was a scam, i have NOT had the computer a FEW WEEKS but a couple of days. NOTHING HAS BEEN DOWNLOADED nor have i had any problems or errors. I don't know what they want but i wouldn't give any information. Just figured i would share because when i looked up this number and found this website, as i read through the other messages i clearly understood i am not the only one and it is a bogus call.
The caller 855-420-3240 has been harassing me both on my cell phone and landline. The frequency of their calls is beyond nuisance and feels like stroking. If i answer and hear a pause I immediately put the phone down but usually I spot the caller ID and don't answer. There has to be a way to block these calls.
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE POSTING HERE!!
I just got a call from 855-420-3240. I google calls like this as the phone is ringing. We have family members who are currently travelling in another continent and I am never sure if it is them calling or not. So, in my google search, if I see that the incoming number shows up on this or another "annoying call" website, I do not answer.
Thanks again for taking the time to post. I really appreciate it!
I believe that BMO is employing the same policy as that used by RY. RY has a rule that all their employees make a certain number of cold calls every day selling their services, otherwise their employment will be terminated. If you ask RY to be placed on their 'do not call' list, they will do so and the calls will stop. Hopefully BMO has the same type of 'do not call' list.
