THIS IS A TYPE OF COLLECTION AGENCY THAT BUYS OLD DEBT FROM A VARIETY OF FINANCIAL SOURCES FOR PENNIES ON THE DOLLAR.MOST OF IT WAS SOLD TO THEM AS WRITE-OFFS OR UNCOLLECTABLE. EVEN DEAD PEOPLE. MANY TIMES THEY HAVE THE WRONG PERSON BECAUSE THEY DON'T QUESTION THEIR SOURCES AND YOU MAY END UP GETTING CALLS FOR SOMEONE ELSE WITH THE SAME OR SIMILAR NAME'S OLD DEBT. TS MAY BE ONE REASON WHY THEY MAY ASK FOR A SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER BUT IF THEY HAVE THE WRONG PERSON THEY MAY SUBSTITUE YOUR NUMBER FOR THE ONE THEY ARE LOOKING FOR. DON'T TALK TO THEM AND DON'T ANSWER THEIR CALLS. THEY ARE RELENTLESS. THREE TIMES OVER THE PAST 15 MONTHS I HAD TO REPORT THEM TO THE FTC, AS THE BBB DID NOTHING.. I RECEIVED LETTERS SAYING IT HAS BEEN RESOLVED AND NOW 6 MONTHS SINCE THE LAST EPISODE THE CALLS HAVE STARTED AGAIN. I AM NOT THE PERSON FOR WHICH THEY HAVE A JUNK DEBT FOR BUT THEY DO HAVE MY PHONE NUMBER AND ADDRESS THEY RESEARCHED FROM THE NAME THAT WAS GIVEN THEM. THERE ARE 4 PEOPLE WITH EXACTLY THE SAME NAME IN A 100 MILE RADIUS. IF ACKNOWLEDGING THE CALL THEY HAVE YOU. MOST OF THE DEBT IS UP TO 15 YEARS OLD BEYOND THE STATUTE OF LIMITAIONS IN MOST STATES BUT WHEN RECEIVING A LETTER IF YOU DO NOT RESPOND A NEW TIMELINE BEGINS ON THE DEBT AND IN COURT IF IT GOES THAT FAR THEY WIN MOST OF THEIR CASES. THEY ARE BOTTOM DWELLER JUNK DEBT DEALERS AND THERE ARE MULTIPLE COMPANIES INVOLVED AND UNFORTUNELTLY THE COST FOR AN ATTORNEY MAY BE MORE THAN THE DEBT ITSELF AND IF YOU RESEARCH THE NUMBER YOU'LL FIND ADVERTISEMENTS OR DROP DOWNS FOR ATTORNEYS TO ASSIST MOST OF WHOM ARE PART OF THE SCAM. THEY WILL PLACE THIS ON YOUR CREDIT REPORTS AND THEY WILL CONTINUE TO ACCUMULATE INTEREST ON THIS OLD DEBT DATING BACK TO ITS ORIGINATION. THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY THE SCUM OF THE EARTH AND RELENTLESS EVEN AFTER BEING CONTACTED BY THE FTC, BBB AND VA THAY WILL NOT STOP AND IF SO FOR ONLY A FEW MONTHS AND THEN BACK AT IT. JUST NOT SURE NOW WHO CAN OR IS WILLING TO GO AFTER THESE PEOPLE BUT YOU CAN CERTAINLY BLAME CREDIT CARD COMPANIES, RETAIL CHAINS AND THE LIKE FOR SELLING THEIR OLD WRITEOFF PORTFOLIOS TO THESE COMPANIES. THEY TO DO NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND ARE EQUALLY AS GUILTY AS THOSE WHO BOUGHT THE DEBT FOR YOUR MISFORTUNE.

Never ever give out your social security number to ANYONE that you don't know who exactly it is. Just block the call.

They say they are collecting on a debt, and they try to get you to confirm their info they supposedly have on you. First off they info is way off, secondly I wouldn't even give them my info, because they sound like a bunch of morons. They just need to f**k a goat.

In responsr to long comment. Debt does not start anew if you get a phone call or letter. You have to make a payment for that to happen
So just ignore them and autoreject their number.

She would not identify herself(she was a foreigner), said it was urgent and asked if I knew a name I had never heard of. When I asked her for some company information she refused and when I offered to report her to the better business bureau she disconnected the call. And I have no outstanding/overdue debts.

It was a Robo dial they left a message to call the 855-343-7888 number back and it isn't a working number when I call the other number that was left on my caller id no one will speak to me. The robot thing says its a debt collection from convertions or something like that.

The 855 number is the callback number these cons give you on their voicemail message asking for someone with the same or similar name to yours. They call me 3 times per day, every day and they can keep on doing it as much as they want. I am not answering as it is not for me.

Folks, do yourselves a favor, and just stop answering! :) It's not worth getting so upset about companies who engage in fraudulent practices. Companies like this are rampant! If it really bugs you, you can file a complaint with the Do Not Call Registry, although i've never found this govt agency to stop anything. You may also be able to block the call thru UR phone co or cellular provider. Saying you're going to take legal action is a joke. I doubt they will ever see such a threat - & if they did, they'd laugh. The cost of the lawyer alone would break the bank. If calls wake your wife, turn the ringer off.

I am getting these calls and I've checked all three of my credit reports and have no outstanding debts. It's odd that I just go in the mail a collecting letter that was settled over 10 YEARS AGO! I've responded to that with a "DO NOT CONTACT ME" AND "I DISPUTE THIS CLAIM". Don't know if they are connected, but my gut says yes.

They are trying to collect from people on old Debt. They callem me on monday and wanted to collect on a phone bill that was 9 (Yes 9) Years old. It was a bill from AT&T, and it had already been paid off.
Be Forwarned, do not pay them even a partial payment because once you do, the clock for the debt will reset to Zero. The Statute of limitations varies from state to state, but is usually 6 years. When you reset that clock, it can reflect on your Credit Report.

Not sure why these people or computers programed by these people do these type of things????? I want them to stop! Can't the government do more to end this type of harrassment?????

I called back and they answered quickly. A woman said who they were (could not understand completely) and hung up on me when I began to question her buisiness. I called back and a woman (#2) with an accent hung up on me. Then on a third call (#3) a woman answered and stuck around a few seconds to tell me "hatefully and stearnly",she did not call my number, only after that she hung up (with polite words but not inflection). She did remark that they serve a plethera of clients and without my number she could not help me. The majic jack number I have rings through to the straight talk cell number I gave them. They may have called it. Majic jack could be selling info. I do not know of any debts and I am very reserved on giving out numbers or info. The most concerning thing is they had my name with the number. In all, who working for any client would be so rude? I really don't think their client list is anyone or thing I care for or patron.

This group calls my phone several times a day (the most has been 7 times in the SAME day)! There is a recorded voice repeatedly telling me they are calling for me by name and telling me to call a number if they have reached me and give a reference number. The recording also says they are calling to collect a debt. I think reputable debt collectors will send a letter first. From the other complaints I have read on this site, they are either phishing or they don't run a very efficient business. I am pretty sure I don't owe anyone anything as I pay my credit cards off each month.
