Caller name: Chase (supposedly)

Caller type: Scammer/Fraudster

I received a voicemail from a man with an Indian accent and name who said he is from Chase. In the voicemail, he addressed me by my name and said he was calling about my inquiry. As I did contact Chase a week ago with an inquiry, I called back and reached this man at his extension 6571383. He asked me for my date of birth and the last 4 digits of my SSN. I told him I needed proof that he is indeed with Chase. He couldn't tell me anything conclusive, saying he needed my personal information first in order to get into my account. After looking up this number online and seeing it was suspicious, I told him I wouldn't continue the call. Then I called Chase to let them know about this apparently fraudulent call. They didn't know more than I do but recorded the phone number and the information I gave them.

Returned the call from 8445408025 number and extension today to see what they are up to. They started fishing my personal information step by step including DOB, last four of SS# and other stuff. I told them to send any information they wanted to share with via Chase Secure Message Center. That was end of conversation.

I received a call from the 844-540-8025 number, as did others here. I called them back, as instructed, and cleared up a dispute I had previously registered with Chase, giving them the required security information (name, DOB, last four SS digits, etc.).

After seeing the comments above, I called the Chase number on the back of my card and they were able to verify that this was from the disputes department and was legitimate.

As others have pointed out, it's important to verify any calls regarding your personal information. Doing so in advance of returning phone messages or calls is probably the best way to go.

I did that backwards this time (I usually confirm before returning calls) and was a bit panicked until I was able to verify that it was legitimate.

Caller left a message to call about a recent inquiry, but I never made one. I called the 800 number on my card and Chase says this number is not theirs, and they have no record of having called me.

Called and left a lot of messages on my home phone, also claiming to be calling about an inquiry. I have not made any calls to Chase. Reading the above comments from people who think this is legit, I think the timing was just right for the caller to phish some info. If you make enough calls, you will get someone who just made a call and thinks this is in response to it.

I received the call and a message was spoken, "This call is in response to your recent inquiry." I have not made any inquiries. The name was said, but difficult to understand. The caller had an Indian accent. I did not leave any information, but instead said,"I believe the call to be fraudulent and would be reporting it to agencies.

As several people have already reported, not a scam number. Legitimate # that calls into Chase Card Services and the extension routes it to the appropriate agent. In my case, I recently disputed a charge. After verifying me, he accurately identified the charge I was disputing, asked for additional information about the purchase and my reason for the dispute, then issued a temporary credit (because the other party does have a time period to contest the chargeback).

The caller did have a bit of an accent, but the routing number took me to the exact same agent who had called me.

The call showed up on ID as being from 844-540-8023 (CARDMEMBERSVC). Annoyingly generic and scammy looking, but in this case legitimate.

They called both my home and cell numbers claiming they were Chase and calling about a recent inquiry on my account. I called the Chase number on the back of my credit card. Chase s no one had called about any of my accounts. Chase also said if they ever called to leave a message, they would provide the last four numbers of the account they were calling about.

Claimed calling from Chase regarding a recent dispute. That dispute was resolved a month ago. When I said I'd call them back instead, person insisted if I could take 5 minutes to speak to him right there and then. I said I'd call him back, he was hesitant and gave me a bogus call back number. Phone # was not available and could not connect. Definitely a scam!

THIS IS NOT A SCAM:
I received a phone call regarding a charge I had disputed on my credit card. Called, and everything seemed legit-they other person knew the charge, the merchant with the dispute and the amount. They asked for my ss number and date of birth, which I provided. I asked to remove the dispute as the merchant agreed to refund the amount himself.

I got worried later as I realized this was not the regular Chase number, and freaked out when I found all these comments at this and other websites.

Called Chase at the number at my credit card. They did not know this number. HOWEVER, they did see that there was contact with me regarding my cc today, and after I inquired further they saw that the activity was to remove the dispute (exactly what I had asked) and that as personal info they had asked for my ss number and date of birth. Therefore it is 100% legit.

Most people probably don't figure it out when you call Chase cause you don't make a special request and therefore they can't confirm it was them-I asked them to cancel the dispute and that was actually shown on my credit card account. I also requested they disclose that this number is associated with them to avoid all the panic.

BEWARE! This is a total SCAM! These jerks call from 847-426-9209 and leave a message for you to call 844-540-8025 with a long extension regarding your dispute with Chase Card Services. If you call back, which you shouldn't but I did from a public phone, you get a bunch of phishing questions. I see they have even left bogus reports on this site from fake consumers stating that Chase verified the call was legit. Don't be fooled, they are lowlife crooks that don't deserve to live on this planet. Hopefully, they will all burn in h**l :)

I agree with Sal. It really sounds sketchy but it's legit. I ignored voicemails from this number twice and then finally called the Chase # on my card to see what was going on. They basically outsourced my Dispute case to this place. I had disputed a charge then called back to reinstate it, all by phone, contacting the regular 8007920001 customer service number. That was several mos ago and so they're just catching up. But, no doubt, it does seem sketchy. And it's best to err on the side of trusting no one in these types of cases.

Woman caller left multiple messages staying that she is calling from Chase card services regarding a recent inquiry I made and to call back at 844-540-8025 extension 6571209. There was nothing more specific in the message and I received no alerts or messages on my online account.
