Caller name: Anthony Johnson

Caller type: Scammer/Fraudster

The following is the message that was left on my phone by a fraud who has obviously changed their calling name from Anthony Stone ( I found numerous online complaints with the name Stone ) to Anthony Johnson. Same scam, different name, slightly different number, the area code is still 844.

"This is Anthony Johnson with Priority Legal Caring Services, I have a summons in hand for you, I am scheduled to come out to your home and place of employment within the next 24 hours. Please make yourself available and have two valid forms of ID. If you are served a summons at work, a supervisor or head of security must be present to sign off as a witness. Please be advised that failure to sign for the summons will result in a missed court appearance. If you have any questions or concerns you may contact the party that is filing against you at 844 503 3660."

DO NOT speak with or return calls to this number. As you can see in the message, no one specifically was named, by the way, if you were actually receiving a court summons, the courts don't call to warn you they're coming! Please spread the word!

I have received the same call twice now. Left a message both times. Same message as you others have gotten. Let's take a look at it...

1. If it was legit, they would say it was a business matter. It is illegal according to the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act to say a subpoena will be served if it wont be.
2. Most companies will not file a civil suit for amounts under like 3k, though some will. This is due to the fact that the amount is a small claims amount.
3. If you do call them back, They cannot say you will go to jail, like one person was told. You do not go to jail for small claims cases.
4. It may differ from State to State but as far as I know, you do NOT need a witness or even 2 forms of ID to receive a summons. Supervisors or head of security do not need to be present. I am a paralegal in a law office. I have sent witness subpoenas and never had to have any of that. I have also filed new complaints and the courts usually take care of issuing the summons via either certified mail or FedEx. That is for here in Ohio at least.
5. Failure to sign the summons does NOT automatically mean a missed court appearance as many times you will have weeks or more (though sometimes less) before you have to actually appear in court. The summons will have all of the information that is needed.
6. Like someone else said, a true process server will not call you ahead of time. They will just show up and attempt to serve you personally.

These types of calls are highly illegal. The Attorney General of all states keep a record of these types of scams and will try to work to shut them down. The only problem is the scammers hear about this and will change their name to avoid getting caught.

I got the exact voicemail described above. They also called my daughter and told her there was a cival suit against me. I called them and they said I owed $2500 on a MasterCard from 2006. I haven't had a MasterCard in probably 20 years so that was my first red flag. They then claimed they delivered a certified letter to me in November. I am a former mail carrier so I know that you have to sign for a certified letter. Plus the address they said it was delivered to I have not lived at in 20 years and is now an open field. The woman on the phone didn't know how to answer me when I told her I knew she was lying because that address is now an open field so no letter was delivered there and no you do not have confirmation that this was delivered because I did not sign for anything. She kept saying 'this is a serious matter' 'you will be served' and 'you can go to jail for this'. I finally yelled 'serve me with papers! I will be waiting on them but if you call again my lawyer will be filing charges against you' and hung up.

I've gotten the call on both my home phone and cell phone. A little unnerving that they had both numbers. I won't call the 844 number, however I'm tempted to answer the phone and see what this "Anthony" would do when confronted. Although, it may be a recording, I can't really tell.

I called them back previously and the conversation got very heated when I told them they obviously had the wrong person. To get back at me the jerk had his computer call me back every half-hour until I finally blocked the number.

Called me again today. No name given by caller no name given of what for and who they are calling for. SCAM! All of it is illegal! It's illegal to threaten you. There collection practices are illegal as I don't owe money as well if I did they call you n ask for the person who owes money and also state by law that this call is being recorded. They can not threaten you they can't throw you in jail for money owed unless it it's taxes or child support. There is no debters prison in America. If you owe a bill n do not pay it it drops off after 7 years. Unless it's taxes child support student loans are forever. They can not call your work or show up at your work for a bill that is owed for a old mci phone bill for example. This is illegal! Look up collection laws for your state or federal if interested. Do not respond to the caller ignore his calls as this is the oldest trick that has been made illegal to collect money in this manner. http://www.callhunter.com/guides/stop-debt-collection-calls

Same exact voicemail as given above. No name given to who they are filing papers against etc. Court summons are sent in the mail. I don't owe anyone money n I haven't got anything in the mail either. A SCAM! Do not call them back! This is the oldest dishonest collection practices as well n is illegal. I used to be a bill collector! They will probably change their number by software. Block with your cell phone so n report them to authorities!

A Ms. Marshall, a manager had the nerve to call me a liar, screamed and yelled in my ear and called me a "ghetto [***] broad", "a dumb b-word and take care of my children". I called back and they insisted to argue and just to realize its a scamming company. I tried calling back to get to the bottom of the false claims, and the people here are highly unprofessional, rude, tacky and tasteless. They are prying and injecting fear into people to scam them out of money.
