This guy called my grandparents and pretended to be me trying to call them and made me out to sound like i was in distress and immediatley hung up the phone. His words were "Hey papaw let me talk to mawmaw i need to talk to her". Grandpaw said it sounded like wind passing by the telephone and it was hard to hear the voice on the other end. The caller later called back proclaimed to be a lawyer and told my grandparents I had been involved in a DUI related accident and was injured, and that my nose was broken. He wanted them to pay for me to be bailed out of jail. And my grandmother told him to let her speak with the sheriff because he was a good friend of theirs and she wanted to talk to him personally. That's the point where he hung up the phone on them. No issue since but I have enjoyed calling him all day and telling him each time he answers just exactly what I think. You don't mess with elderly people they have been worried sick all day and my mother totally freaked she thought I was hurt and actually stopped by my apartment earlier to check on me. So I hope we can put this dude behind bars and I hope he pays for this. If I could find this guy in real life I would love the opportunity to kick his a*s!

About 9:30 this morning I got a call from my grandson saying that he had been in an automobile accident and was in the Cook Count Jail in Chicago with a DUI (alcohol of 0.14). He said that his Public Defender would call to give me the details on bailing him out of jail. After about 10 minutes the Public Defender, Jennifer Hardy, called to say that the bail would be $1895.00 and that if I could send it via Western Union my grandson could be released from prison before his arraignment and he would not be charged. The money needed to be sent within 2 hours otherwise he would be charged. (A few Red Flags went up but I was worried about my grandson sitting in the Cook County Jail).

The public defender gave me a number to call after I had sent the money so that the bail could be paid right away. The recipient was a to be Bail Bondsman by the name of Alice Castillo of NY, NY. By the time I got dressed I only had 1 hour left. So I went to the CVS Pharmacy and tried to mail the money via CVS Moneygram (as instructed) but, lucky for me, there were so many problems that I gave up.

I reported the scam to the FBI

Today, Richard Gomez called demanding $1970 for bail money for a distant relative. He wanted a wire transfer from CVS immediately. We will report this to the FBI.

Note to Richard Gomez: You are a disgrace! I hope you end up where you belong which is in prison!

My uncle was called by this number claiming my brother had been arrested on a DUI in Indiana and needed bail money ASAP. He wired the money to a woman with the last name Ceurva in Massachusetts $1870 + cost of the wire. We only discovered the issue over thanksgiving Question for others: what level of personal detail did this man have when he called you/your loved ones? I want to know how he's collecting this information.

My elderly mother got a call from the above stating that her grandson had been arrested in Ohio (she lives in NJ) and that $1660 was needed for bail. They scared her to the point where she was concluding the transaction at the bank and the bank officers intervened and told her it was a scam. Thank god she didn't go through with it. They wanted her to get a money order at CVS. However I took the initiative and called the number and Richard Gomes did in fact answer the phone and was a bit surprised someone called him to give him an earful. I informed him that the authorities had been notified but I doubt anything will be done. He also has a female partner that has the last name Cuervas ...

11/18/15 - This call was initiated to my mother's cell # (who is elderly) stating that her grandson (my nephew) was in jail, in Manhattan, NY, from an automobile accident and was charged with a DUI and wreckless endangerment. They, the supposed Public Defender from the Legal Aid Society, stated they needed $1800.00 bail to get him out. The urgency for the $$ within in a 2 hours (should have been our 1st clue) was because if he went to the pre-trial hearing could be in jail for a few weeks or so. WE busted out butts to get the $$ wired, successfully, to them. NEVER, even thought to call his mother or him to get more info FIRST!!!!! UGH!!!! Now, mind you, initially, all these phones calls were coming to and from this 801#. When we asked that our grandson/nephew call us when he was released, they used the 570-507-7641 number to call us back on. This voice that called, which sounded like our our grandson/nephew, called stating he was out of jail and had a ride home. Of course, after getting into contact with his mom, we hear he is at work and perfectly fine. These scam artists are good!! Soooooooo, to the tune of $1800.00, we lost our you know whats!!! THIS IS A SCAM!!! BEWARE!!!!!! SO SAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We will be following up with the FBI!!!
