I was told to call this number by someone claiming to be Citi's Fraud Early Warning Department. While I didn't call it, I did call the number on the back of my card and they in fact had tried to reach me.

called my parents and gave a reference telling them to have me call them back to confirm my account. Why would Fraud be calling prior to me even receiving my card? Phishing. Only call the number on the back of the card.

Called my cell phone asking me to call this 800 number and enter a reference number. I don't have a Citibank credit card. Obviously a scam.

Caller name: Citibank Fraud Department

Caller type: Scammer/Fraudster

I received a mailing that look legitimate saying that my new American Airlines Citibank card would be in the mail shortly. I never requested the card. Then two days later I received a call on my cell phone supposedly from the Citibank Fraud Department. The number was 800-825-0393. They gave me a reference number. I called the number and input the reference number but was told it wasn't valid. There was an automated voice asking for my name and address. I hung on until I could talk to a person. I explained the voice mail and the mailing. I was told that he could look up my account based on my SSN. He said it would adversely affect my credit score if I didn't resolve the problem. I told him I was not comfortable giving that information and that he should be able to look up the information another way. He was very persistent but I did not give the information. He gave me another number to call 866-771-3354 which he said was the actual Fraud Department.

Called back with reference number they provided. They could not look it up but if I just gave my 9 digit SS# they could help. A real bank will not ask for entire SS over a phone call that they initiate, if at all. Hang up.

This is the number they provided me with to open a fraud alert report after calling me from 210-677-1346. Supposedly they are from Citibank and someone wanted to open a bank account under my name.
