I had a door hanger left on my front door that stated I needed to call this number and it had written in by hand the name - Bank of America and the phone number. Just a gold piece of paper - no logo, etc.

I have cameras at my house and can see a thin, tall black man in a grey car pulled up at my house and sat there for several minutes. He then got out, rang the bell and stayed on my porch for several more minutes before he hung a yellow envelope on my front door that says important information inside. Inside is a slip from 'BOA' with the 800-669-0102 number attached (information handwritten on a small form). He then returned to his car for several more minutes, sitting outside my home before leaving. Very creepy. Must have been hanging around my house for at least 15 minutes.
Just to be extra careful I called Bank of America, and there are no issues with my account.
BEWARE THIS IS A SCAM!!

This is Bank of America Debt Collection, their collectors are typically through 3rd parties. All mortgage payments are due on the first unless made different through refinance or HELOC, your grace period may be through the 16th, but your payment is still due on the first, that is why they call. The reason why they ask you for your information is because they want to make sure they are speaking to the right person, and not someone pretending to be you.I dont know about you, but I wouldnt want t Joe Spiffy making changes to my mortgage account. Dont be stupid people. they are not scammers. If you have an account, just verify with them, and they will tell you what the call is about. NOT SCAMMERS.

Don't be stupid Virginia - this is the biggest fraud scam around - DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION!!! I spoke with BofA and they say this is a scam and they do not do business this way.

CALL YOUR BANKER IF YOU THINK YOU DIDN'T MAKE A PAYMENT OR WANT TO VERIFY ALL IS OK...DO NOT TALK TO THESE PEOPLE!!!

Asked for my address...Said they were calling regarding my property... And they were from Bank of America. I have no property with Bank of America. I called Bank of America and they said they are not trying to contact me and not to give anyone personal information. It's clearly a call center you can hear the noise in the background. When Bank of America contacts me it Is a professional, not somebody from a call center .

received a call providing phone number 1-800-669-0102. When I returned call, was asked for last four digits of social security number and account # and last four digits of checking account number. After two subsequent telephone conversations with Bank of America representatives, neither of whom recognized the number I mentioned above, I've had not resolution to this matter. I have checked all of our accounts and can find nothing that seems out of order.
I find it alarming that BOA seems to be so completely unaware of this problem.

I have just verified with Bank of America today that 800-669-0102 is in their collections department. For mortgages there is a 16 day grace period before a payment is late. I got a call this morning.

I confirmed with BofA that, as the 16th fell on a Sunday, paying on the 17th (as stated on my statement/invoice) would NOT result in a late fee as an extra day was added due to the Sunday due date.

Their collections department now calls EVERYONE who hasn't made a payment by the 16th day (as a reminder.)

As I am very frugal, I will always make my payment on the last possible day before incurring a late fee and that is the date shown on my statement.

I can only assume that the same calls are made regarding other types of accounts with B of A.

I hope this helps understand the reasons for the calls from 800-669-0102.

Said she couldn't tell why she was calling until I gave her the info she was asking for. When I refused, she told me I could call 800-669-0102 directly, which was a Bank of America number. I asked if they would know why I was calling, and she said yes, but gave me know other info. It all sounded suspicious, so I looked up the numbers and found they're likely part of a scam.

I had the same thing with a car pulling up, taking several pictures of the house and mailbox, pulling all the way in our long driveway, leaving the mysterious "gold envelope". So, I opened the door as she was running back to her car, and demanded to know what was up. She said call the number. I said I have no idea what your talking about. She asked if I was the homeowner.. I paused,, so she said, talk to him, he needs to call the number. It was really kinda un-nerving. I'm the renter, so this is not great news. Kinda wish I got the license plate of that car. I agree that B of A should handle debt collecting a whole lot better. Not very professional at all.

The Number is legit. Mortgage payment is due on the 1st. They ask for address, (they can get that off the local county appraisal district website) and LAST 4 of social, not the whole thing. If you don't want to give that they take the payment amount. Either you know you are late on your mortgage and shouldnt answer, or you do not know you are late and are about to be credit reported. Door hangers come from a third party, still the BOA number, ask a teller and they will verify it.

We receive a call from Bank of America at least once daily stating that it is their mortgage department and asking us to call 1-800-669-0102. Since we do not have a mortgage or even a bank account with them, at first I ignored it, but finally decided to call them back to find out how they got our number and what it is about. An automated answering service first asked for the last four of my social security, and I asked for a representative. After I could not provide them with an account number or loan number, the automated voice literally hung up on me after saying to call back when I have the information.
It is hard to believe that this is BofA business practice, not even being able to connect to a live person to get them to stop calling my number! I will never do business with BofA, that's for sure.

I have never heard of large institutions, or better yet, one of the largest institutions communicating with customers via hand written door hangers. It reads "PLEASE CALL/LLAME POR FAVOR BOA. PLEASE BE READY TO GIVE YOUR ACCOUNT NUMBER/POR FAVOR ESTE LISTO PARA DAR SU NUMERO DE CUENTA". Now if that doesn't scream official and legitimate I don't know what would.
