Dell is enabling FINANCIAL TERRORISM of their customers. To this date, although Dell is aware of criminal Indian scammers using their customer database, they still haven't done anything to stop this scam that has been going on for many years and new customers are still getting scammed. Their tech customer support dept. is still outsourced to India and they have done nothing to secure their customers' information.estate

I've been getting calls hourly -- all day -- from this number. I haven't picked up once. Sometimes the Caller ID says "Dell Computer" with this 800 number and other times the ID displays a much longer number beginning with "V" -- probably the VoIP number.

Searched Google for "800-624-9896" and it looks like these scammers have been operating for a long time with this same fake ID. They're a pesky nuisance that surfaces out of India or someplace in South Asia ... their goal is to annoy, harass, and (if possible) defraud people in the USA.

Had problems with my wireless connection earlier today. Then got a phone call I ignored. Now a 2nd call today from this number. I answered and he verified my computer service tag and service code on the bottom of my computer. He wanted to help me fix my virus issue. I asked if I could call him back, and he asked why. I told him I was busy. Then looked up his number and found this site. Obviously a scam, glad I didn't allow him to do anything to my computer. Now I need to run virus software incase he did. Ug!

Same scam as listed by many others. What is the point of filing a complaint on this website? Nobody, including this website is doing anything about it! If someone could tell me exactly where these calls are originating from and who is making these calls I would be happy to go there and F them up for good!

Seriously, don't any of our governments or law enforcement have the technology to trace these guy down and shut them down for good?

Caller name: Indian Scammer Posing As Dell Tech Customer Support

Caller type: Scammer/Fraudster

Constant back to back calls about Dell Laptop being hacked. They have your name, phone number and Dell laptop information. If you have mailed in your laptop or contacted Dell customer support, these people somehow get your contact info. Sent my laptop in for repair and months later, they called about Dell receiving info about someone trying to access my laptop and he needed me to complete a few steps. First off, if your laptop manufacturer was able to track hackers for you, you wouldn't need Norton or McAfee virus software downloaded to your laptop and this service would be at a fee. Second, there is no way for Dell to track if you have been hacked. Real Dell customer service barely knows how to troubleshoot without reading from a book and sounding robotic as they read.

I told the guy that he was being recorded which he was, his call will be traced and he will be reported. He said do what you have to do. James is the name he provided and he was Indian. I said go 4k yourself James. "James" says go 4k yourself and continues to back chat. He told me to tell him what the call was about since he is not Dell. Dell real customer service will never call, even for a Sales call just out of the blue. The last time they called, the number was unable to be reached as if it didn't exist. This time, they have stepped their game up and have a Dell recording when you call and of course, you will be speaking to a scammer. The limits that they will go through. Last night, he called back again, I said listen, I have a degree in Computer Science. You can't scam me. Please stop calling my phone. He will continue to persist in the future. Hard to block these people.

These calls come from an actual Dell customer service number, at least that's what shows on the caller ID. These are in fact scammers and I don't know where they actually work for Dell and are operating inside of the Dell customer call center or they have somehow attached that phone number so people would think it was legitimate but these are scammers. I played one idiot for 20 minutes and then informed him that the number had been traced and I also told him that I would like to do to him and his family. That I would like to end the procreation of a criminals. I have informed him that I was previous law enforcement with a federal government and that hopefully someone would be visiting him soon.

My son got a phone call claiming to be Dell. They knew his name, and definitely his Computer Info that's necessary for support. He says he had an accent. They told him that his computer has a certain "virus" and then told to go download "Supremo" from http://www.fff.re/dawu to establish PC to PC remote access. After they opened Event Viewer and performed cmd tasks like tree and dir, they hung up. Then while still connected with PC to PC, they called back, he told them they hung up and they say they never hang up. Then when they were going to give him instructions, that is when my other son found out it was a Scam! So my two sons pulled the plugs on the network. Luckily they did not do the damage to the computer and we have ignored the phone calls that keep coming in!

This is a legitimate Dell number, but it is for folks whose computer is under warranty and per Dell tech support they do NOT cold call about issues with your computer. It is used by Dell, I think, to call about pending tech support issues, so if you have one of those in progress it might be a legit call. But the Indian Guy who wants access to your computer is NOT from Dell; he is apparently spoofing a Dell legit number.
I've reported this to the FTC. 1 877 382 4357. Everyone getting these calls should, because apparently the data base at the FTC is used by investigators seeking patterns.

A caller with a thick Indian accent in a noisy room, claiming to be from Dell Technical Support, reports "error messages" from my computer. He gives correct Service Tag number for a recently-serviced Dell laptop (now functioning perfectly), then asks if I want paid service to fix my computer. After I state that his call is suspicious and that I plan to contact law enforcement, the caller quickly hangs up.

Today and yesterday, two calls, about two hours apart (almost the same time both days). I hit "dial back" and I get Dell; when I finally get a human being (in India, I suspect), I'm told they never called and that there have been complaints of fake calls... which led me here. I'm apparently having the same problem as those reported previously by others. When I play the messages (the light on my phone is blinking when I get home from work), the only "message" is "beep.........beep.........beep........." et cetera. Very annoying.

Man with a strong Indian accent claimed to be some sort of "engineer" and said that my computer was sending reports to Dell that security changes had been made to my computer recently and it is now infected. Told them I hadn't made any changes and I was in the middle of something and asked to call back. Asked his name. "Alex." I asked what his last name was. "Watson." I chuckled as I repeated the name "Alex Watson" to the man with the strong Indian accent and he asked if he could call me back. I laughed and asked how a computer that has been shut off for months was able to do that, "Ashley" repeated the tag # to me. I sternly stated that if I'm having issues with my laptop, I will call into Dell myself. I then hung up and researched the incoming call number. I believed the call to be a scam and didn't give the caller the information he needed.

From now on, I will research whether a company outsources their customer service Dept overseas -India in particular - before purchasing any product from them.
Not only are those companies outsourcing jobs which take jobs away from Americans for their own profit and greed, they put their customer's financial security at risk with their lack of securing their customer's information.

A Dell computer is definitely NOT a must-have. There are many other alternatives where my purchasing the product would not expose my personal information for it to get into the dirty hands of unscrupulous scammers to harass me with rampant phone calls attempting financial extortion.
