The CDA has a special arrangement with the Value Village stores to sell the clothes that they collect as the result of those calls. The proceeds are used to finance diabetes research. This number belongs to CDA without a doubt. Don't be afraid to deal with them, it's a legitimate organization!

My neighbor said he received repeated calls from someone asking for a person named Raymond, who does not live at his address. He doesn't know anyone by that name. He told the caller that it was the wrong number but the calls continued anyway. I called the phone company on his behalf and asked what he should do. He doesn't have a phone with Caller ID. I was at his house when a call came in and I used *69 to see who was calling. That's the number I got. I put the number on a list of numbers to be blocked. I don't know whether or not my action was effective because I haven't heard from the neighbor yet.

if you look up the Canadian diabets association, 1-800-505-5525 is the number listed on their website. So yes its legit!

I received a call from a nice little lady offering to help me clean out my closet (so to speak) . I looked them up and found this http://www.diabetes.ca/get-involved/supporting-us/clothesline/

______________

Their calls are part of the population outreach campaign, geared towards reaching their target of picking up 12 million kilos of clothes this season !!!!

I have been missing calls from 800-505-5525 , today is my day off and they called again so I picked up. They said they are looking for donations for the diabetes research, my grand father had diabetes so I felt kind of obligated to contribute. So I scheduled a pick-up date , but the problem is I don't really have anything to give. I will make a post on my facebook , hopefully my friends will have something to give away , otherwise I will look like a d**n fool handing them a ziplock bag containing old jewerly and head bands :/

It the clothesline program, directed by the Canadian Diabetes Association. They will come pick up your clothes that they will later sell to second hand stores and the proceeds will go to the CDA. I have donated some clothes to them in the past, and it went without a problem. However I understand the anger of those, who do not receive an explanative voicemail : it's important to know the nature of the missed call.

the CDA should not only be looking for clothes donations, they should also start looking for new equipment for their call center ! I was patiently waiting for someone to say something for a good 2min period. Nevertheless no one was on the line so I had no choice but to hang up.

I got a call from a "Robert" talking to me about the Canadian Diabetes association. It sounded credible! They're looking for donations so if you have some clothes to get rid of, for example might just as well answer the call- they'll come pick it up.I didn't have anything to donate really , because I am a recovering hoarder and don't have much left to give away, but maybe other people do .

Its pretty sad that so many dishonest people gave charities a bad name. If you look at all these comments, you realize that people are very cautious and doubtful as to the true identity of the caller. Although CDA association confirms this phone number on their official website- we still are doubting the authenticity of the call. I think this article sums up the why http://www.thestar.com/News/article/220756

This is a legitimate phone call from the Canadian Diabetes Association looking for donations. If you have something to donate, you can book an appointment with them and the truck will pick it up from your residence. I've used this service several times. Its reliable.

800-505-5525 belongs to the Canadian Diabetes Assoc. Funny their hrs of operation are 8 am - 8pm, however they are calling residential numbers at 8:50pm - There employees may want to think about the reason they have an 8pm stop time... it is unacceptable to disturb people after 8pm unless they are planning to send someone over to help put the children back to sleep!!!!! Does not bode well for donations...

I wish I'd known it was CDA - I always give them clothes and whenever they've phoned in the past their name was displayed and I answered the phone. Why would their number now say "unknown"? They also always used to leave a message. I wonder if they've farmed out this task and that's why it's not done as above-board.

I have received many calls from this number. I notice that Telus has an ad shown here. I'm thinking that for everyone who does a WWW search the originator of the call gets paid. Yes, they get paid by Telus! They don't need to collect clothes.... The last call I answered but there was no response. The line was dead...... This is very unscrupulous behavior!

If possible please "remove my number" from their telemarketing list.

I returned the call (from another number, maybe that matters) and spoke to a live person (1st ring no less) and they said they could take me off their list.

My beef was they dialed my home line AND my cell number at the same time... and i could never connect with a live person when I answered.

Let's hope for the best

I will not give to these people because of the hang ups..and we have diabetes in the family. Plus, Value Village then just gives other charitable thrift stores a run for their money will spinning a profit. I just bring my stuff to the Sally Ann and donate to the CDA separately.

We just got this call at 9:50PM. I think this is very odd that they would call us at this time of the night. When i looked up this number here, I read that it is the Canadian Diabetes Association of which just gave me a flashback. A guy came to my door one after noon and said he came for pickup, I said pickup? what pickup? he said a bunch of clothes. I'm like umm no, I wasn't told about anyone coming to pick up clothes, and I didn't call for anyone to come here either. He insisted and said.. Well, I was supposed to be here today to get it.. I said well sorry Not here... He looked really mad at me,and it had me worried, and a little scared.. I seen his truck, and knew he must of been legit, yet at the same time.. getting mad at me? What is up with that? I will answer this call next time and tell them to GO you know where.
