Claimed to be Dell technical support calling about my computer. Gave me the model number. It was actually the model number of a computer monitor I had purchased. Said they had received error codes from my computer. Obviously fraud.

Just like the other's that posted comments. The guy said he was from Dell. He know the model # of my computer. He even knew I called Dell for service last year and what the problem was. He claim that my computer had been compromised and that 10 other IP address where using it. The # on my caller ID was 800-439-2949. When I told him I would call him back he gave me 800-425-2067. So my question is who at Dell is using or selling information that he would have this type of information. I didn't call the number back and as I write this I'm trying to contact Dell.

Dell Technical Support Scam -Obviously some Dell Employees that work for the real Dell Technical Support in India sells your information to Scammers pretending to be "Dell Technical Support" workers. They easily fool unwitting souls......THEN, they try to get in to your computer to install spyware and viruses that you then have to pay them up to $ 500.00 or more to have them remove what they installed. BLOCK ALL NUMBERS...AND NEVER GIVE THEM ACCESS TO YOUR COMPUTER. The real DELL does not call people with BS like this....not ever.

Same scam, multiple phone calls claiming to be Dell Tech Support, heavy accent lots of legitimate info about my computer including purchase date, contract info, etc. Said computer was reporting errors, probably a virus or malware and wanted to log-in and run free diagnostics. That DID NOT happen! - Hung up. I called Dell to report the problem. Here are two ways to report the problem: 1). Provide Dell with scamming info: www.dell.com/reportphonescams or 2). call the Federal Trade Commission at 877-382-4357.

Mike called to say that he was from Dell Support and was calling me about my computer which has some problems with slow performance (which I had been discussing with Dell Tech Support since mid-Jan) and they were noticing some pop ups. Asked if I had downloaded some programs from Internet.
Asked me if I was on the computer, I said NO and said will call be back again.

HOW DOES THIS OR SET OF CALLERS GET INFO ABOUT MY SYSTEM? IS THERE SOMEBODY IN DELL PASSING ON INFO?

DELL should investigate the source of this kind of leak of info.

This is the first time he has called and 10 digits came up. It is usually 800112222. But, like the others he has told me the same thing. I am from Dell and I have received error messages from your computer. He also, knew the model of my laptop. A couple of days ago I asked if for a number so I could call him back and his response was am I married. I also called dell, and I was given a ticket number for him to tell me. While typing this complaint he has called again. But, when I said hello they hung up. But, the thing that is so puzzling, how is he getting this information, especially when it comes to having knowledge of a person's name.

The caller claimed to be from Microsoft and gave his employee number. I asked him how he had my information and he said I registered my computer when I purchased it, which I don't remember doing. He knew my name but had my wrong e-mail address. I didn't give it to him though. I asked him what type of computer I have and he couldn't tell me. He said I have an infection on my laptop that can't be corrected by anti-virus software. He waited 10 minutes for me to get home to my computer but when he started to walk me through the steps, I looked up the number online and found this site.

This guy ( number ) calls my phone at least 3 times a day, I answered it 2 times and both times they said they were from Dell and were getting messages sent from my computer that hackers were trying to enter my computer and wanted me to let them into my computer to fix it... I had someone try to do this to me about 8 months back claiming to be from McAfee saying the same thing. If they call me I know it's fraud because unless you are waiting for a return call NO company just calls you out of the blue... I will be calling Dell as soon as I am done on this site... As reported by others receiving calls, caller alleged he was calling from Dell re: apps. installed on my computer at the factory that had been stopped. I asked for verification, he gave service tag and service express # for my computer. I asked for more, he gave date I bought my computer. He asked me to do a couple of technical diagnostics, when I asked why, he again explained that apps. on my computer had been stopped, which would enable hacking. I asked for more info. to confirm who he was and the company he was with he said his name was Michael, gave his direct # as 800-624-9896 and company customer service # as 800-425-2067. When I did internet search on numbers, got here and saw multiple pages of fraud reports. Do not listen to them no matter how legitimate they sound. Do not do anything they tell you to do!

if I could, I would reach through the phone and choke the scammer at the other end of these calls from "Dell". I recently purchased a small spare lap top and they knew I did and tried to tell me they were having problems with that model. I wish Dell would offer to change their customers tag numbers to shut these a-holes down. I'm afraid that if Dell ever did call me, I'd be hanging up on them, after a few choice and well chosen words. How do you say "FU" in Indian?

Third time in as many months I have gotten a call from them saying my computer was trying to download a virus from the internet. Of course, they had my name, computer model and service tag. This time, I was in the mood to mess with them. Asked them what they knew about the virus. They could not tell me. Asked them when the last time it had tried to download the virus. Told me it was trying right now. I indicated, "Wow. That's a neat trick. It isn't even plugged in. It hasn't been plugged in for over a month. Oh, yeah, and I reinstalled the operating system." "Oh, no sir, this is coming from the onboard security system built into the machine." "Really? Does it run when there is no power connected? OK. I'm done. I want to talk to your manager." Manager gets on the phone and I say, "Let me guess... You'd like to have me open some remote support session and let your rep drive my computer around, until you find something and then you will watch as I enter all my credit card information, am I right?" The manager ssays, "Well, I have one thing to say, eff you, sir!" "Wow. You MUST work for Dell, because they use that kind of language all the time with me. What's your name?" "My name is your father in law." "Wow. That's funny. Because it is not even insulting here." Then he offers one, final, "Eff you sir!" and hangs up.

If you answer and refuse to deal with them, they call back and curse you, even leaving that language in a voice message. A few days ago I signed up at https://www.nomorobo.com/. Now after 1 ring, the call is automatically disconnected when Nomorobo determines that the number is in their database of known scammers.

I do not know if ICS is in on it as they are a 24 hr computer tech services call center with prices that sound like the ones I was quoted. Sketchy web presence (2 unique visitors a day). wanted 99/year to fix computer or 600/year to take care of my whole home network. refused to provide callback/case information. Said she was a level 5 anti-hacker certified whatever and wouldn't normally talk to someone on my level (consumer). That was ironic as she wouldn't let me off the phone and I eventually just hung up. The funniest part was her line "Its not even about the money, we'll fix it for free now and you can pay us later". Okay no company would ever say that..

This time was the last straw though. I answered the phone with an angry tone and he said he wanted me to speak to my wife this time. Me being a single man said i didn't have a wife. Then he said he wanted to speak to my girlfriend or he was going to f**k me in the a*s. I then told him i didn't have a girlfriend and hung up on him. Two seconds later he calls back and the second i answer he hung up. How do i report such a thing?
