This is a total scam. They keep calling on a google voice number that I only use for the internet. It's not listed on anything personal, it doesn't have my name on it anywhere. I've never had a citi card (not even a gas card, which many are backed by citi), i've never had a citi bank account (personally, I hate citibank and would never use them for anything).
fortunately, google voice allows you to block numbers where they get a message saying 'number you called is not in service).. this particular number was going directly into google voice spam folder (so obviously google knows is a scam).. now that I've blocked the number completely, It won't even go in there.
more proof it's a scam.. since they're calling on a google voice number, and not my landline which is used for everything I do including banking.. and is unlisted with my name and address right in the phone book.. what more proof does anyone need?
Caller name: Citibank
I have been on the no-call list for several years.
There is a debt collector (Orchard Bank) who was owned by HSBC and now is owned by Citibank.
After telling them I was on the no-call list list, after paying their bills, I still receive at least 3 calls a day from these people. When I pick up, nothing is said and the call is disconnected. I have never been so frustrated by this kind of nonsense. SEVERAL times, I have said, I am calling the FTC or the police. They just hang up. It starts at 7 am and does not stop until 9pm. Every single day....it's been over 3 weeks now (21daysx3 to4call/day)....This is infuriating.
These people call at least 10 times a day. Every single day and a lot of the time, it's into the later hours of the evening. They asked for my grandmother and I once told them she was unable to take the call at that time and asked what the call was regarding. They said 'it's a personal matter', but they were with Citi? After three or four days of them calling, I'd finally had enough and yelled at them, demanding for them to take my grandma's number off of their calling list and the calls stopped for a few days but yesterday they started again and I am at my wit's end with these people. I'm getting mixed messages about whether or not they're really with Citi or if they're fraudulent? In any case, they are harassing people and it's ridiculous.
I have the YouMail app for voicemail. I've saved this number on my phone as DONT ANSWER. All you need to do is go under your contacts and check off the box to send that contact immediately to voicemail. Then, I set up my voicemail to give them a specific message. YouMail has the "doo doo dooo! The number you have called has been changed, disconnected, or is no longer in service..."
Since they never leave a message, I don't care if they call now. It goes straight to voicemail, doesn't even ring.
Caller name: Citibank
This number calls at 8am EVERY morning and calls multiple times each day!! I have asked 5 separate people at this number to remove my number from their calling list which has resulted in the reverse...calls coming in every 2 hours!!!! I have unplugged my phone and don't understand how this can continue. There are a tremendous amount of complaints on the internet so how are they allowed to continue operating?! Am I now going to have to pay to block them on a land line?! RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!
Caller name: Citibank
This is CitiBank calling. They call my google voice number at least 2-3 times daily for months. I blocked their number so that they get a recording saying that my number is "not in service" and they still keep calling multiple times daily and the calls are logged in my google voice account as SPAM. What gives???!! Does Google Voice make money giving out google voice phone numbers to telemarketers???
Caller name: Citi Card
On 7/28/2014 I got a call from 1-800-388-2200 on my work phone (which is weird as I NEVER give out my work #...1st sign...not sure how they got that number) and a recorded message came on the line telling me that they were Citi Card and that they had important information regarding my account and that I was to call 1-800-388-2200 or go online to www.citicard.com. So I called the 800 number and they asked me to key in my card #. So I did...but my mind said, turn your card over and look at the 800 # on it. I did and it didn't match...so I started thinking somethings not right.... Once I keyed in my card # it said that it was an invalid card # and that I needed to key in my Social Security #. I then realized I was being scammed...they were trying to get my personal information, card #, Social Security #, expiration date of card, etc. I hung up as soon as I realized that the 800 number was different than the one on the back of my actual card and when they said it was an invalid card # and then wanted me to key in my SS #. I then called the # on the back of my Citi Card and spoke with the representative there and she indicated that it is an identity theft ring that is trying to be clever....so Citi had to close my account that I gave the # out to, then had to re-issue me a new card and account # (I won't get it for 7-10 days). What an inconvenience.
These CROOKS need to be stopped....oh even funnier....I have LifeLock on all my accounts and I got a call from them not 10 minutes after I hung up from the real Citi Card folks indicating suspicious activity on my credit card. (this is how fast these CROOKS work). But LifeLock stopped them dead in their tracks.
Word of warning...don't ever give information out to anyone that calls you from a credit card, your bank, etc. Always call the # shown on the back of your card, or on your bank account so that you can be sure you are dealing with the legitimate company. What could have been a mess in a short amount of time, turned into a blessing...thanks to that inner voice and the real Citi Card and Lifelock!

Calls 8x per day from 800 388-2200 even though I am on the DO NOT CALL LIST. Unbelievable at all times a day this automated number calls. It should be illegal against the FCC as harrassement. I had to save the number as SPAM and then turn the ringer to SILENT. What a poor way to represent any company.
