I told Shannon that if I get another call from them I was going to report them to the Fair Debit Collection Practice Act. ( FDCPA ). These calls need to stop.

I don't know for sure if this is a scam or not but this number called and immediately hung up when calling back the computer or automated service asked for my full social security number in addition I've never heard of this Bank after pressing a million buttons to get connected to a human.

I again was asked for my full social security number in order for them to look up my account this was fishy to me and I requested additional information about the bank.

the representative commented that they cannot give any information but they could help me out if I gave them my social security I said no and asked to be placed on the Do Not Call list after the representative typed and repeat it back my phone number he declared that he could not find any information or an account therefore he needed my full social security number in order to look it up.
at this point I figure it's a scam and I ask is there any other way to authenticate my account without my full social security number he said no and I replied I will not give you my social security number if this is some type of scam is really messed up that you're doing this immediately after saying that he started raising his voice and I I have them on the block list

Been receiving calls from this number for a few weeks. I don't answer *UNKNOWN* callers. They don't leave a message and if they do, it's in broken English or their recording cuts off some of the dialect and you can't understand a darn word they say. Found out it's for my CareCredit card for a medical procedure & yes I am behind on payments. But I'm sending what I can afford - when I can. I have since blocked their number.

This number calls my home numerous times every day - even at 8:30 am on Sunday. They are trying to get money from my son and he hasn't lived with me for over 10 years! They won't remove my number from their system without the account number - which I don't have because IT'S NOT MY ACCOUNT. Luckily I have a newer model landline phone with the ability to block numbers. This is a terrible way to treat people.

I seriously doubt my spouse would come to work with me, AND... I'm not married. Why the lie about it being personal? Doesn't that infer he knows me? Called me multiple times. I do not answer unknown calls on my cell phone. I do not owe anyone money; I am on the do not call list so next time I will answer and tell them that and by law once you inform them not to call and they do after 24 hours you can file a federal complaint. I know someone who has filed several federal complaints and it helped them to get rid of certain calls.

I received a call from someone that I haven't seen or spoken to for quite a while. She told me that someone from this number was calling her asking for me. How/why would they call someone that I barely know looking for me. I have only one account open and when I looked at my account.... sure enough, her phone number was listed as my home phone. I didn't even know the person's home number so I have no idea how/where they got this number from. I have automatic withdrawal for my account and have no idea why they would be looking for me. This has to be an invasion of privacy or harassment of some sort. I see a lot of other complaints on this number but notice that nothing seems to have been done. Why do they continue to do stuff like this?

This number called 5 times yesterday, never leaving a message. When I "Googled" the number, the company GE Money popped up. If you have a Gap Card, this is the company they use. If you look closely at the profile information form online for a Gap Card acount, you will notice that there may be a box checked agreeing to receive calls from marketing companies in alliance (?) with the GE company or even just the company itself allowing them to contact you via your personal or business phone numbers. They could be trying to collect a late payment, report suspicious activity on your account, get you to upgrade, etc.. I don't have late payments, so there should be no reason for them to call me. I still think it would be very unwise to give ANY personal info to them over the phone.

Caller name: GE Retail Bank (they own SEVERAL major card accounts)

Caller type: Debt Collector

Folks - this IS a true number. It is the collection number that originates from GE themselves. And I have an account with them. This number was marked as Spam in my phone. What got MY attention is when they called my parents house. And YES. My account is past due. I went to the website for the DIVISION of GE that I have a line of credit with - Care Credit. Without fail, EVERY SINGLE time I made a purchase with that card, and I only use at my vet's office, you have to sign a slip that, if you read it, clearly states how long you have to pay that balance, without an interest penalty. That's the beauty of the card. I know if I spend $500 at the Vet, I'm going to ON that ONE transaction know what the terms are for repayment. 3 - 6 months, but you still have to pay a minimum balance. Where it gets messy is when you have PREVIOUS purchases that expired on the no interest promotion.. Suddenly it's a maze to figure out. They are NOT a "collection agency". They are the collections department. I too was taken aback at first, but I logged into the website and called the number there after verifying with the back of my card. That was the second call. And I ripped apart some poor guy on the first. FCRA allows calls. That's a fact. It's the law. You can tell them that they cannot call a particular number, like your work number, and they WON'T.

And regardless of what anyone seems to think about this, it is a well known FACT that companies have chosen to outsource their customer service to foreign countries. India is the prime location. MY company outsourced our IT Help Desk. And I work for a well known large corporate company. I realize that there are SEVERAL scam methods floating around out there, but before you generalize, and stigmatize a person based on their nationality, make sure you check yourself. Seriously. It's human decency. Quite frankly the LEGITIMATE outsourced call centers do not get paid enough to have someone make judicial and derogatory comments based on their accent.

I just spent THIRTY minutes in the phone with a very patient man, as I was online at the same time setting up a payment. I explained my concerns, he listened, said he could understand why, but legally they can only leave one VOICEMAIL a day. BUT they can call you as many times during THEIR business hours as they want. And that's how the LAW works. FCRA. It's out there.

Then he says, I see you scheduled a payment for a particular date. I said yes, I just did that. He then asked if I was sure, because my account WAS already past due from a previous statement, and I only paid what I could afford, that I would unfortunately be assessed with a late fee. Again. Totally legal. If you don't pay your Visa, MC or other major credit card in time, or within an allowable "grace period", which is about 3-5 days, then yeah, they're gonna charge you. And the fine print on credit cards, you know, the pamphlet everyone tosses? It clearly states in THERE that your APR could go up if you have late payments, missed payments, etc.

Everyone knows who they owe, and electronics statements just don't work for me, and I hit a rough patch. So instead of doing the RIGHT thing, and calling my creditors, I just didn't answer the phone. Didn't recognize the number, or it was flagged as spam. Soooo.. Racial slurs. Not cool. It's the person, not the ethnicity you're yelling at, and I think it's a real shame that everytime someone hears an accent, the FIRST thought is "scam". If you don't like being called by someone with a foreign accent, take it up with GE and most major corporations. THEY chose to outsource the call centers. To save money. I feel very bad for those true legitimate EMPLOYEES.

Human decency. I really don't like collection calls, I just get irritated when I get them, but, uh, I'm the one who didn't pay the bill. Not them. And credit card default is on the rise. Companies have now chosen to take a stronger, proactive stance. The money these companies lose every year due to bankruptcies is staggering. That's because we've hit an economic free fall, jobs lost, homes foreclosed, lives destroyed. And then this?! Yeah. I know. s***w them. But it's not the person, or nationality, you have the issue with. It's the company.

I just think it's a shame that so many people have developed this generalized idea about the calls from the foreign countries. If you're THAT upset, write your Congressman, GE, whoever! Ask why they've outsourced jobs that should stay in America. Seriously. Look at what has been written thus far.. Anyone of Indian origin on here? Anyone on here black? A Jew? Chinese? Japanese? Arabic? People don't have to be rude. Be polite. And BTW your SSN isn't as secure as you THINK it is... That's why we check our credit reports. To make sure that what's there is accurate. And you can have all 3 bureaus lock your SSN. That way they have to control it directly. Thus, preventing identity theft. And for all the Obama haters... You can thank HIM for TRYING to enforce a non disclosure of a SSN for verification of account. But in reality, you've got control over your credit reports. Pay attention to them. Dispute erroneous information with all 3... And for the love of "humanity".. Don't think that ANY racial slur is justified. Ever.
