Feels like someone is masking own number using Verizon's number. I was barked at ( litterally ) by this caller, I doubt Verizon would tolerate this

get multiple calls each day from this number (non-number), don't answer - really annoying.

Received a call from this number at 7am this morning, I am very surprised to see that their office hours start so early. I am reporting this number for usage of inappropriate outgoing-calls time slots!

Said I was picked to get a 99.00 credit on my bill just needed my pin#. He was forgien hard to understand I told him I would not give that info and hung up. Called Verizon and was told it is a scam and they had seen someone tried numerous times yesterday and today to access my account. Verizon put special blocks on my account to be notified of any attempted access.

This is a confirmed case of phishing. Callers originating from this number attempt to phish the last four of the SSN from their victim, use it to initiate a password reset on a MyVerizon account, then phish the 8-digit reset code. Once compromised, they put their own equipment onto the line and add interational dialing.

If you accidentally provide information to someone calling from this number, immediately contact Verizon Wireless, change your billing PIN, and change your MyVerizon password. Notify the fraud department that your account has been compromised.

Don't give them any info. They called me phishing for info to complete my account transfer from Alltel to Verizon. I called Verizon *611 to verify that this was legit and they told me it was not, that no one would ever call me from Verizon requesting my info like that.

If you did give them some info like my stupid butt did, call Verizon and have them change your password stat.

Caller name: Said It Was Verizon

Caller type: Scammer/Fraudster

These calls are coming from a bunch of bottom dwelling, scum sucking, a-moral excrement heads. The best thing you can do is either block the number or don't answer. You see, the problem is that even just answering gives them data (you know, like the calls you answer and nobody responds). It verifies that the line (your number) is still validly active. This then gets passed around the circuits for other scams to try and contact you. Also, depending on how you answer, They may not even be trying to actually talk to you. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, answer a phone call with a greeting like "Yeah, Mike speaking..." or "Yes, this is Mike, can I help you?" Two things happening here. First, NEVER say "yes", "yeah", or anything but a simple "Hello" when answering. Especially a call from an unknown caller. Many of these scams are just wanting to record your voice for other vicious misdeeds. Like ordering that 85 inch flat screen and $3000 surround sound system and having authorization for the fraudulent purchase in YOUR voice. Second, "Hello, this is Mike...", now they have confirmed your name. Even if you don't say your last name, they likely already had that anyways. Now with a name and number confirmed, they can collect/confirm more of your info easier, even if they don't get any of your info directly from you. Answering with a simple "Hello, how can I help you?" may seem a little cryptic, cold, and rude at first. But anyone living with even a vague sense of reality now days will understand. It is the only real way to answer and screen calls without potentially falling into one trap or another. I would also suggest that unless you have to have your name in your voice greeting for work or other priority reasons, then just go with a simple and generic "sorry I missed your call... leave a name, #,.... and so on..." kind of voice greeting. It is an increasing thing that some of the scammers are actually hoping to go to your voice mail. Again, because it is still data for them. Or they might even be recording your voice greeting to dissect the recording to use your words, in your voice, for there deeds. And now, the IRS scammers (and some others) are even leaving a message for you. This is duping a lot of people right now, because, "Since when did these scammers start leaving messages? It must be legit!?!?" Well it's NOT!!! I am not expecting every one to google every number that calls them. But, with even just following the advice from this posting, you can decrease your chances of being scammed by an impressive amount. I did not mean to publish an article here, but I also can't stand back and watch the scams continue without at least trying to fight back. If just one person is spared the head ache and burden of being scammed because of my posting, than my mission is accomplished. Please, please, please feel free to cut, copy, and paste this to other scam number report postings. This all applies to any scam call you get from any number. Lets band together as the proud, hard working, English speaking, tax paying, contributors to American greatness that we are and stop these thieving low life human waste scum bags from continuing to prey upon us!

These idiots at Verizon are so stupid they shouldn't be allowed outside their homes let alone have a job. Someone tried to open an account under my name and I received a letter confirming application. When I spoke to them they found the account thru the app # and "supposedly" closed it, and connected me to the fraud dept. After 2 weeks, with no return calls from the sales dept., to confirm the acct. closure, or the fraud dept. to help me find out how and who did this, I called back and spent another hour talking to these [***], that now cannot find any info by acct app# or my name or my address or the contact # on acct. that they gave me 2 weeks ago. They all said that neither sales nor customer service could actually close this acct. so 2 people 2 weeks ago lied to me, and not finding any info now does NOT mean that the acct was closed. Only the fraud dept can do this, and after 3 more calls because sales and customer service said they would transfer me but just hung up, for some other lazy [***] to have to deal with it. This says a great deal about this company. I spoke to 6 people over 3 weeks time and no one helped, no one called back, no one did a darn thing. I will never do biz with verizon and will always try to persuade people from using them. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS!!

Caller name: ??? with Verizon

Caller type: Scammer/Fraudster

I received a call today telling me that Verizon has stopped their new every 2 program and that they were going to credit my account in the amount of $2190.00. They wanted my login id and said that they needed my password to verify the account. I refused and they did everything they could to try to convince me to give it to them. I called my local rep on another line and he said that it sounded really fishy and that I should ask for a phone number to call them back at. They gave me 800-256-4646 which appears to be Verizon, but is not the customer service number listed on their site. When I asked for a name, they hung up on me. Needless to say, I immediately changed my login id, password and challenge question.

They did seem to have a lot of information about me, but it is pounded into you not to ever give out this type of information unsolicited.

Stay safe people!!!!!!

They just called me randomly when I was at my friends party. They claimed to be Verizon wireless but when I called them back a person said these exact words ( I told Siri to record the conversation). Law office penselvania Michele Youngblood speaking how may I help you? Then before I could say anything she looked up my number in her files and then she said oh hi is this rizwan shaikh. But my name is not that I told her and I found out that rizwan shaikh was my dads worker I'm friends with his kids. And the. She called back later and said Verizon wireless speaking we are looking for rizwan shaikh and I asked who was on the line. The lady said Michele Youngblood. And then I told her about how I spoke to her before and she hung up. Strange right? Can someone tell me what happened?
