This # calls my phone alot. The # is coming out of Escondido, California from what I can see. I never answer the phone when I see it. But what is confusing me is, my daughter called me from her cell and this # popped up on my caller ID. She asked me why I didn't pick up. Her # usually pops up correct.
I wonder if her phone provider has anything to do with it or if she has accidently been a victim to a scammer and they got my # from her phone or computer?

It came up as no caller ID but i have a number unblocker. Once i removed the no caller ID the number showed as 760-705-8888. I have received over twenty calls in one hour. Also, +1 000-000-0000 seems to call immediately after, harassing me. My voicemail is now full because of all the missed calls.

It's a Google Voice number, so someone just use it to call me, it was a real call from someone I know.

Since it's the same number for everybody, some bad people might use it too. That's too bad since it's a good free service to call freely in America.

An individual claiming to be our grandson visiting the Domincan Republic. Fortunately, we know where our grandson is and what he sounds like so when I heard this voice with a slight accent, which the caller blamed on a 'cold', I questioned his identity to the point where he said "You sound concerned." I motioned to my husband that this was not our grandson and he took the phone. When he asked the caller to identify himself, the call was disconnected. Hmmmmm. When we redialed the --number, 760-705-8888, a recording said the call could not be completed. Beware! The vultures are circling!!!

Received a call from a man that called himself Dr. David Matthews, an OB/GYN from California. He asked me about room availability. After I told him we had the rooms available, he went on to tell me that a new hospital is being opened in Pensacola, but he didn't want to release the location because he has yet to sign the contract. He said I sound very professional and asked me if I would be interested in working in the health care field as a public relations manager. Staring pay would be $48,000 for no experience. He started asking personal questions, just odd questions all around. Asked if I believe in mixing business with pleasure, what my height and weight are...etc....Very strange. He said he and 3 other board members will be in town this weekend to sign the contract and will come in to book the rooms. When I asked for his phone number he seemed offended. He said "why do you ask if I have a phone number". I told him I needed it to make a reservation for him. He claimed to get our contact information for the Chamber of Commerce. I work at a hotel by the way. He did not call my personal number.

My elderly mother just called me very upset from a call at this number. The caller said he was her grandson and in California and that he was caught with drugs which of course weren't his but that he needed money or he'd have to stay in jail. He called her Grandma which isn't the name the grandkids call her but did identify himself by the name of one of her grandsons. When my mother said she didn't have any money, he questioned her about how much she made and when she wasn't cooperative, he hung up. I've warned my mother many times to not give out any information and she didn't, but she was worried that something had happened to her almost 40 year old grandson whose job requires him to travel often (and who by the way wouldn't have any illicit drugs.). She was also worried that the caller had her home address and would do her harm. This is a terrible shame! Google needs to do something about this! Technology is a great thing that can be used for the wrong purposes!

My father got a call from this #, a male voice said "grandpa" so my father asked him his name. He said he was his grandson and knew the right name but my father was not convinced. So my father asked him for his last name and he used the right name but mispronounced it. Then my father asked him for his sister's name, and after hesitating he gave my mother's name instead. So he had a lot of information about our family. The purpose was to get money, he said he had been arrested and needed my father to pay $2000 to be let go. He also had my father speak to the "police", someone else who was there. They finally hung up on him when he said he wasn't sure it was his grandson there.

This scammer calls numbers on the national do not call registry in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. Their operator is selling off-shore software development services at supposed discount rates. They refuse to provide a phone number or physical address when asked (in violation of the TCPA), but will only tell you that their business is based in Houston and that they have developers in Pakistan. This is clearly a scam, and their operators are clearly not properly educated in their obligations when placing marketing calls. Do not provide this scammer any information.

The calls are a very strange; someone screaming and ranting "You're a choir boy, a CHOIR BOY, and I can beat you anytime! What the f**k?!" and other things ("choir boy" is just the thing I remember most)
We called the police and they couldn't trace it but said the little s**t was between ten and twelve.
This about 9 to 11 months after my brother got constant Skype calls from a boy named Seth who threatened to kill him and do other nasty things.

People are asking, "What can I do?" Put FTC - Federal trade Commission - into the browser and they'll tell you. I like to say nothing or"Oh?" (perhaps safer for men) in a fake interested voice and then put the phone down very quietly and go on with whatever I was doing. Then you don't have to listen to them except perhaps a few loud whistles before they give up.
Consumer Reports also has links to get rid of do-not-calls, emails, etc. even if you're not a member, I think - we are but we don't have to log in to get this stuff. Put "junk mail" into their search browser.

A customer's Voice Mail system was hacked. instead of transferring calls to extensions on the system it had been reprogrammed to forward these calls to numbers in the Phiippines, Gambia and Kosovo/Serbia. Caller ID info showed callers using this hack all originated from 760 705-8888. Apparently if this is Google's number they're using it for two reasons. One, to hide the original caller's ID and because the call to the hacked numbers are free. I suspicion someone is reselling these hacked numbers.

What's funny to me is that everyone posts on the website, but doesn't do anything about it! Everybody who has recieved this number should call your phone provider to have it blocked and the attorney's general office! It's google's fault because clearly anyone can call using that account and use that number to be anyone! I tried tracking down the area code and it leaded to about 6 counties in California, well that doesn't help. The number called my grandparents acting like my brother. He said he was in california jail (when he lives on the opposite side of the country. The name of state is not needed) for having a trunk load of weed. That's clearly not my brother. Everybody report the number and if there are enough complaints, google will have to find the scammer personally and everyone's lives will go back to normal!

Beware of scammers. You may have heard of grandparents who get calls about grandchildren in jail needing money. This morning I received a call, "Hello, Grandpa!" I said, "Hello." "You know who this is, don't you?" I replied, "Not yet." "It's your grandson!" Well, I have three grandsons, and they all live with me in Texas, and were asleep in their rooms. So, I hung up. Two hours later they called again. My wife answered. They wouldn't answer who their parents were, or give any information. They called once more, but hung up before anyone answered. Time to get the police involved.

This number called my grandfather this morning and claimed to be me (using my first name) and said he was at a funeral in California. My grandfather knew it wasn't me (we live in pennsylvania) and told him so and then the caller hung up. There are many other posts online with the same scenario so this is obviously a scam by someone who is getting access to phone numbers of the elderly and the names of their relatives. If anyone know how to report this to the proper authorities, please do so.
