I got a call from CMS today. A woman asked me how much attention I paid to advertisements on TV & billboards, & if I ever used coupons. I wasn't doing anything important so I figured I play along. She offered to send me a gift card to either Walmart or Target & 5 magazines for participating in the survey.. for free!... Figuring it too good to be true, she informed me that all I needed to do was pay shipping&handling. (I thought it was free?) I told her that I was uncomfortable with that idea & not to waste the paper. Her response before hanging up on me was, "so you'd rather pay $6.99 for a magazine? You could have told me that earlier instead of wasting 10mins of my time!"
.. Sorry you hate your job. Maybe start with the fine print first. Then again, maybe don't call me. Rude b***h.

It is 9:30 Sunday morning and home phone rings and it says cms. First of all I am in sales and I make phone calls but I would be very hesitant to be calling a stranger before 10:00 on Sunday morning. I answered it and then ended it it with out say anything to the person.

Caller ID said CMS. Well, they still hang up on people when they find out they aren't interested in magazines. I'm on the do not call list too, like many other posters on here. As soon as she brought up magazines, I said "No magazines - Is that what this is really about?" The phone went dead and I thought maybe I accidently disconnected it (loose cord). I see now that she is the one who hung up, lol Kinda childish...

Also on do not call list. "CMS" is a contract bill processor for Medicare so I imagine these idiots are trying to entice people who are being billed for hospitalization and being reimbursed by Medicare to answer out of concern for their medical bills by using these initials. I will attempt to block this number but I am running out of allotted numbers to block. I think playing along with them and wasting their time is a great idea particularly if you are on the do not call list. This is getting way too far out of hand.

Just let it ring off the hook. Normally I tell them "hang on, I have to turn off the stove," and then I leave them on hold until they hang up. At
East the time wasted saves one call or more a day to someone else.
