Heavy Pakistani accent. Claimed to represent Medicare. Said I had qualified for a free back brace. All I had to do was provide some additional information. They knew my insurance co., my age, my address, my impairments, etc.

When I said it was an obvious, amateurish scam, I was connected with an indignant, "heavy hitter" who became confrontational. He would not terminate the conversation gracefully, so I hung up.

An hour later, a conciliatory Pakistani? woman called demanding The same medical information. I told her not to call again. Two hours later I got a third call.

I have no idea what their game is (or even the legitimacy of
this questionnaire), but they're persistent. Beware.

Received call stating they were from Medicare and they calling to see if I received my new card and my benefit box. They tried to get me to give them my Medicare number to confirm who they were speaking to. They kept insisting that I give them my Medicare number. I told them Medicare does not call members and that they were a scam and to get a life. I have received these types of calls several time. It a crying shame that people have nothing to do with their life except to try and rip people off.

The Texas Senior Medicare Patrol has received several complaints about Medicare scam calls from 727-369-8560. The LIVE male caller says that he is calling from Medicare and asking, "did you receive the new Medicare card?" When the victim says yes, the caller says, "is it paper or plastic?" The victim says, "paper." The caller says, "well you need a plastic card, so let me get your Medicare ID number so we can send you the right card." THIS IS A SCAM. MEDICARE WILL NEVER CALL YOU. Report these scams to the Federal Trade Commission (https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov), Medicare Office of the Inspector General (https://oig.hhs.gov/fraud/report-fraud/index.asp) and your state's Senior Medicare Patrol (1-877-808-2468, or https://www.smpresource.org). DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR MEDICARE OR SOCIAL SECURITY IDS. Check your Medicare Summary Notices (MSNs). If you see that Medicare has been billed for a brace or other durable medical equipment or prescriptions that neither you nor your doctor has ordered, report that information immediately to your state's Senior Medicare Patrol (1-877-808-2468, or https://www.smpresource.org).
