I finally answered to see who they are; I too have been called many times and ignored them. So today I answered to see who they are.
They are a telephone service to inform you about stockholders meetings; they called my son to let him know about a stockholders' meeting for ING funds, which he owns. If the stock owner doesn't want to attend, they solicit stockholder proxies to vote for the proposed slate of new corporate board members, budgets, and other routine business - a perfectly legitimate business function. I know that if a company cannot get a quorum, the meeting has to be re-scheduled and additional expenses are incurred.
This tracks with the other complaints I have read about them.
