Caller name: Roger from Dell

Just got a call from 714-676-8138 on my home number from a guy with an Indian accent claiming he was with Dell. He had my, email, customer id and service tag # and told me my computer had been hacked.

Something felt fishy so I told him I would call him back and he gave me 877-790-7414 and his extension 1083 (Roger), Googled both numbers and it appears to be a scam. Is it?

I have been receiving these annoying calls several times a day for the past week or so. The caller ID came across as Microsoft. Many times I just ignored them figuring they were a telemarketing scam. They would only ring one or 2 times then stop. A couple times when I answered there would be no one on the other end. Today I answered and actually spoke with someone with a very heavy accent. This person informed me that my Dell laptop was infected with a virus and that he needed to access it. He had multiple personal information including my name, my cell phone #, the model and make of my laptop including the service tag#. This was an obvious scam but I played along initially and pressed this person on where and how he obtained my "secured" information. He continued with the BS that he was from Dell and that is how he had my information and that I needed to follow his instructions as my laptop was infected with viruses. I was having none of it and continued to press him. He would not relent, insisting that he was from Dell and how else could he have all of this accurate information, including service information on this particular laptop. I finally told him in no uncertain terms where he could stick it and hung up. The scary part is that he did have accurate "secured" information and either A. Dell has been hacked and scammers have obtained customers personal data or B. This person really did work for Dell and had taken liberties with my info. and was running this scam on the side. Either scenario is very scary. Dell is the devil. I did have this laptop serviced by Dell 6 months ago and had to place multiple calls to their actual technical support staff. This was by far the worst customer service experience of my life. I made no less than a dozen phone calls trying to resolve issues with the laptop. I was disconnected multiple times (usually after being transferred around to 2 or 3 different technicians and usually after an hour or longer of already being on the phone). Now, after that nightmare of an experience it is obvious that my secure personal information was breached. Be warned about these scammers but more importantly be warned about Dell and how they are playing loose and easy with customers secured personal information.

I have received multiple calls from this number, the first occurred while I was having problems with my dell so I entertained it for a couple minutes. It is without question a scam. He just called again today (heavy Indian accent as others are reporting) and I told him I didn't own a dell and he hung up immediately.

I got a call from 714-676-8138 on my cell phone from a guy with an indian accent and he said he was with Dell. He gave me my email, customer id and service tag# saying that my computer has malicious malware. He was really demanding to have me turn my computer on, but I told him to call me back at another time. I didn't trust him and so I googled about this random call and found this website. Glad to find out he was a scammer.

Got a call today from a belligerent Indian "tech." He was unable to give me a valid address but insisted he was in CA. He transferred me to his supervisor when I asked for his email address. Who does that?

The supervisor was just as asinine. He gave the address of the "email department" which was invalid. He later hung up because I kept asking him info about his fake company.
