Caller name: Unknown (reward registry?
I received a call at 4:43PM (Central time). I happened to be using my phone at the time, and the call rang through, but they hung up almost immediately. I looked up the number and then called back to hear the same reward scam about "$100 gift card" or some nonsense.
I listened to the options, and option 2 is to add to Do Not Call list. That's what I did. I also reported the call immediately to the do not call registry as a complaint.
I have been on the do not call registry for years.
I missed the call on my cell and they didn't leave a message. Instead of calling the number back, I just did a search of the number online and found this site. I definitely won't be calling back. I am also on the D.N.C. list but apparently this company doesn't think the law applies to them. SO annoyed!
Caller name: WalMart
A foreign speaking woman called and said I won $100.00 gift card at wal Mart and a $2000.00 savings book. She said I needed to give her my credit card or debit card for a one time shipping fee. I told her that I didn't give my credit card numbers out to anyone on the phone. she told me not to worry because my number would immediatley dissappear after she charged me. I told her that she didn't get up early enough in the morning to scam me. I told her I was calling the Police and she hung up on me. I then called WalMart and told them what was going on . They reassured me that this was a total scam.
As far as I know I'm on the do not call list, but this number showed up on my caller ID as a missed call. I'm sincerely hoping they do not call again. From the looks of the other comments listed here, it's a scam artist. Sad.
There are many ways they got your number. A number of Apps give permission for them to get not only your phone but your contact list also. Check the permissions you allowed when you use these apps. Never even heard the cellphone ring here.
Caller name: Some Lady
I missed the call, so I called them back. I've worked plenty of jobs on the phone, both incoming and outgoing, and so I grilled the lady about what her scam was, because like most people, I don't put down my real number for anything. I got her to explain that they try to milk about $10 for shipping (fully refundable) for some product that's supposed to save me money, and they give out $100 Walmart card and $20 card for something else. I tried to get her to crack, but she seemed to handle herself well. All you do with these people is take control of the call and tell them to politely f**k right off. The goal of places like this are reaching elderly and disabled people who are most susceptible to giving out important information over the phones. I feel bad for most people on the other end because they are just trying to make a few bucks....Its the companies who are somehow legally able to run these types of businesses that get my full amount of disdain. f*****g scum of the planet.
