This was regarding a listed, higher ticket item on Craig's List. I received a text in response questioning if the item was available and it's condition. From there I receive a series of 3 texts stating that this individual was a "US Army Reserves" stationed in Pennsylvania and wanting to buy my item as a gift for their son in Warsaw. I did not take the bait, but am still reporting the number here. I have also filed a complaint on the number at IC3.

I had a motor cycle on Craigslist and this person texted me saying that they were in the marines stationed in New York and was buying this for her son to be shipped to Wyoming. She was paying with PayPal and adding a bogus shipping charge. I then received a suspicious email from "PayPal" saying that I needed to send the shipping fee before they would release the funds. I immediately suspected a scam and forwarded all emails to PayPal. They confirmed the scam. i am still getting texts from this person now threatening to turn me in to PayPal unless I comply. NO WAY am I sending any money to anyone with out the payment in my Paypal account. Do not even respond to this person.

Just wanted to give you a heads up about a person who tried to scam me which involved my PayPal account. I buy and sell on Craig's list and received a text about one of my items for sale from a person who called them self Alice Greenwell. Her phone number is 646-397-4628. Because of the content of her texts my suspicion was elevated so I Googled her name and number. No surprise that this persons scam techniques are all over the internet.

Claims to be from Oxford Alabama, wanted to purchase a tractor I was selling from a posting on Craigslist. I was suspicious at first, I fell for it at first "she" convinced me to open a paypal account because that was going to be her only payment method no other. I found it suspicious because she was not really interested in details or further information. I am glad I read this post. I would have fallen for her scam!!

WOW!! I am glad I looked into this after it seeming a little fishy. I had the same exact incident when trying to sell my Subwoofers. She first said she was Army Reserves then stated she was on a Marine Base.

I recieved text on a PWC I'm selling in AZ Claiming she was from Bethany Fett from Pennsylvania, and she wanted me to open a pay pal acct. to send money. Total fraud in my opinon didn't go for it.
CaliforniaI have been called a number of times by this scammer telling me that i have serious problems with my computer and i must allow the caller to run through my computer ...I know it's a scam but the person on the end of the phone when told that I am not interested is abusive, rude and threatens to hijack my computer and shut it down. He shouts and tells me that I am an idiot for not allowing him access and although I am completely aware that this is bogus I worry for older folk who may be taken in by this.
