I received a call from this number this evening. I do not answer calls that I do not recognize on my caller ID. They hung up and did not leave a message. I'm sure it was a telemarketer, and I can't believe they can get around the do not call register. Something has to be done about these annoying calls. I receive at least one each day.
The lady stated that she was from NY Express Insurance and they called due to someone filling out a form online for home or auto insurance; they deal with all insurance companies, etc. Least that is what she claimed. Nobody that I know of did this at my residence, unless somebody used our number on the form. In any event, she was very nice and I asked that she please remove our number from her list, and she did.
I have no lived in NY for over 2 years now but kept my NY number. I have not requested information about cheaper auto insurance. They called me 3 times and left no message. When i did answer she (for no name was given) she wanted information. I told her i was fine with my insurance and she was still persistent.
I was playing around on those build-your-own car websites. Most of them require you to enter a zip code in order to continue building the cars. They do that so you can get a quote and availability from local car dealers - which seemed kind of innocuous at the time. I'm not interested in a new car - just killing time on a wintry night.
Anyway, that's when I started getting calls and e-mails from car insurance agents in the NYC area - these guys and other folks.
In the future, when I get bored, I think I'll stick to playing solitaire or streaming movies or something. These calls are petty annoyances - but very, very annoying nonetheless.
