Medicare showed on caller ID. My wife answered because of that. She asked for me by name. When my wife told her I was not here, the women asked if I still had back and foot pain. My wife asked where she was calling from and the woman said Orthopedic Medical in New York. My wife started asking more questions and the woman hung up. 626-205-9619.....I hope someone catches them. I called Medicare and the lady told me Medicare does not operate that way. Gave me FTC web site and phone.

Inquiry about orthopaedic complaints, assumes back or knee, when 'no' is the answer, suggests other body parts that might be painful. When asked, 'you have nothing to do with Medicare, do you?', he says, 'You have a nice day. Bye-bye.'

The women that called spoke pretty good English with a slight accent. She already knew my name, age, address, phone number and that I was recently seen by a orthopedic and was fitted for a knee brace. She said I was entitled for another one FREE for my other leg. All I had to do was give her my doctors name and his address so she could send him a script for the free knee brace. I told her I didn't need another one and wouldn't give her my doctors name or where he was located. I asked her where she got all this information from and that I thought her call was fishy. She got annoyed and told me I was getting confused. So I said talk with my husband and she hung up. Where did she get all my information from? And how did she know that I was recently seen by a orthopedic, but not knowing his name or location?

Said I was approved for a back brace & knew I was having leg & back pain. (I just happen to have an appt today with an ortho doc). She had my name, address, and address & phone number of my doctor. She said I would not have to pay anything for the brace, it is 100% covered by Medicare. She had a very strong accent & it was a little difficult to understand her. When she asked for the last four digits of my SSN, I told her "no", I would not give her any information. She talked a moment then asked again for last four SSN numbers. I told her NO, I do not know you and I was about to tell her if she was Medicare, she'd already have that info, but she had already hung up.

Claimed to be calling since I had knee problems. In actuality my wife is having hip surgery and they asked for the Doctor's name. I was offered a free Medicare knee brace. How they got this phone # is unknown, but it is not the phone # that the Doctor and Hospital have. It seems someone in either the Doctor's office, or Hospital is passing information on to these folks. The lady would not give her phone #, but I got it through the caller ID.

The number on the caller ID states Medicare, but I have never answered the call. The problem is this... they are relentless! They call here every single day, sometimes twice a day... even on Sundays and Holidays. If the call is so urgent that they have to continually call me, then they should leave a message!
Big time scammers... Don't answer the call and don't give out one piece of information!

Caller asked to speak to my wife (used her first and last name). I said she couldn't. She asked "Why not?" I told her she died five years ago. She said something I didn't understand and hung up.
Obviously, this was a fake or spam call, since Medicare would have know that my wife was deceased.

Woman called asking for me, said from something-or-other Orthopedic Medical (caller id showed "medicare") and asked about my back + knee pain (neither of which, thankfully, do I have). I said since I had never used their "services", how did any of my private medical data end up in her hands? Actually I think all she had was my name and number but she was pretending to have a file. She wouldn't answer that, just kept on about my back and knee pain. I asked again and she hung up. I suspect they aren't trying to sell anything, just working a list of phone numbers with names that anyone can get. A percentage of the list are going to be people with health issues that can be duped into verifying soc sec numbers and other data useful to identity thieves and hackers. Hang onto your jewelry and your wallets and don't volunteer any information to these cockroaches!!!
