Caller type: Unknown
Wanted to "send me the new WHMIS after GHS" information. When I asked why we were being called about something that Health Canada is supposed to do, she mumbled some excuse. Then went on to list Bill 168, the AODA, etc. When I mentioned that we are involved in writing training on these pieces of legislation (which is true), she couldn't get me off the phone fast enough! Didn't end up hearing her whole "pitch", but strongly suspect that it would've been a scam.
Caller type: Survey
519-453-9590 Needs to know the number of employees and annoyed because no information was released. When asked if this was a sales call she advised they need to update records for the company. No information given.
Caller type: Scammer/Fraudster
This caller represented herself as a government employee for the Canadian Accessibility Department and wanted to talk with the person in charge of training of the Ontario Accessibilty Standards for our B&B establishment. They did not give a name....why? After listening to their "pitch" and because of my "doubting Thomas" personality I back tracked the telephone number and they are a private firm called the Canadian Labour Compliance Agency. My opinion is that I do not trust them when they represent themselves as a government employee. I believe that that is a criminal act is it not? Other sources have also pegged them as frauds and have had a much worse experience than I have had.
