Fool tried to get me to do some registry "fixes" to prevent spyware. I told him "I run Linux." Couldn't figure out what Linux was, and he was an "expert." What a fool. Hung up after laughing in his face.

Male with heavy accent claimed to have been in my computer which had a number of errors which needed to be fixed and wanted my permission to do so.

When I told him IF he had been in my computer, it was without my permission and NO... He hung up on me.

Just like everyone else, they called from "windows" trying to help me fix errors on my computer. I asked how they had my number and she said I registered when I put my computer. Nope. She did know my name though. Nice try.

Woman with a heavy accent told me Microsoft was receiving messages from my computer that I was getting threats and viruses. I told her she is full of s**t because I have a Mac and she called me a b***h. I told her she better never call me again and did a *57 to trace the call. I hope nobody is dumb enough to fall for this.

This man with a vary thick Indian ascent asked if we had a computer when we said yes he asked us to turn it on. then he said we had errs and warnings. he showed us how to get to see them. when he asked to remote view our screen I started asking questions when I told them what I thought they were doing and told them the truth that there were no credit card numbers on our computer. He sounded surprised and he started to stutter then hung up.

Caller asks you to do something on your microsoft computer which is actually a RESTORE.

Once your computer is down after that I suspect they try to sell you something, like repair services or software.

Please do not do anything to your computer suggested by this scam artist. Caller:

This number called me last week and it was a foreign woman talking. Tried to tell me hackers were trying to get into my computer and I needed to go into my registry and delete some stuff there. She said she was with Microsoft Windows. She couldn't even tell me which Windows system she was talking about. I have 2 computers so that put an alarm on. After we hung up, I called Microsoft and he said that was not a Microsoft Windows number and don't do what she was telling me to do, that it was a scam to mess my computer up. I asked him if other people were having these calls and he said yes. The same number called today and I didnt answer. But then I decided just to call the number back and it said something like a Mandella Pager and no one answered
