Has called everyday for past 4 days. Never answered phone because the prefix beginning with the number 1 was odd. But they keep calling, looked up area code and 415 is California, which I know no one in Cali. Whoever this is needs to stop in researching this number I have found hundreds of people with same stories all the past 4 or 5 days.
Today I got a call from this number. I picked it up and said hello. Then this lady told me I have done a survey (I never do surveys) and said I have won $100.00 gift certificate from Walmart. So I said ok keep going. So then she told me to get online. I told her I was outside. Then she told me to get online from my phone. It was a bit suspicious. I told her can you call me back later or can I call you back? She said "NO, this is the only one time offer." Then I asked for her full name and where was she calling from, and she hung up then. This is the first time I got a call from this number.
Called me 8 times in 4 hours! I answered the last attempt and said straight away "stop harassing me!" a woman said she was calling about a survey I'd recently taken. To which I replied "I have not taken any surveys, and I am going to somehow report this number!"
Person told me she was calling in response to an online survey I had completed, then asked me, "How are you today?". That's a giveaway of a script caller, and I never check "OK to contact" when I do an online survery, so I hung up. No repeats.
This San Francisco/North Bay Area number has called me twice today. The first time I answered and the caller said nothing, so I hung up. The second time (five minutes ago) I answered and a woman on the phone said hello twice before I hung up. If she calls again and says I won a gift card like she said to some people, I will definitely call her out on it being a scam. So annoying!
Caller name: Sylvia
I got a realistic-sounding but clearly computer-controlled voice.
"Sylvia" thought I was following her directions as she told me to go to WakaNetwork.com and claim my $110 in Wal-Mart prizes. She asked for my address and credit card info and said I would be charged $2.99 for processing my prizes and enrolled in a savings club with a "free" 14-day trial.
No word on what it costs after that.
It sure sounds like a phishing scam !!!
Caller name: Unknown female
Same story; thanks for the survey, I've won a gift card, there is nothing to buy, she'll walk me through the redemption, etc. Once I spotted the credit card logos on the website I reminded her about the "nothing to buy", she told me that there was a one time "redemption fee". At that point I told her that the call was over. In addition to the annoyance of the call to begin with, there was a bad echo & delay - I answered her but she would respond as if I hadn't. The annoyance in her voice was obvious, like I was pulling her chain when I wasn't, but now wishing that I really had.
