Caller name: Card Services

Caller type: Scammer/Fraudster

This company calls numbers on the National Do Not Call registry (in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act) and plays a recorded message with no operator on the line (also in violation of the TCPA). They are offering a guaranteed reduction in your credit card interest rates. This is clearly a scam as they have already violated the law twice. Do not provide these phishers with any personal information!

THE BAD NEWS: Card Services calls aren't going to stop anytime soon.

THE GOOD NEWS: You can retaliate, reduce the misery, and even have some fun.

RETALIATE:

Waste these turkeys' time. Keep them on the line by acting like an interested prospect. Give them bogus data, including a combination of two different credit card numbers, scrambled Social Security digits, and a modified ZIP Code. Important: provide a credit card company's real 800 number.

After they call the credit card company, you can give them the same credit card info as before with two of the numbers transposed, thus causing them to make a second verification call. Or you can respond, "Guess what ... H-O-O-N-N-K-K [from a $6 air horn] you've been PRANKED! Call back tomorrow for more bullshot." Now they're the butt of your joke.

REDUCE THE MISERY:

Landlines. Enroll for the free service at nomorobo.com. Simultaneous ringing, a free feature many providers offer, enables nomorobo to receive, answer and, after one ring, automatically hang up on nuisance telephone numbers.

Cell phones. Block the number, an option that becomes available on the iPhone if you click on the "i" on the right in the list of recent calls and scroll to the bottom. Unfortunately, Card Services will keep calling from new spoofed numbers, which eventually should motivate you to retaliate.

HAVE FUN:

Turning the tables on the perpetrators with mischievous deception and the news they've been duped provides instantaneous vigilante satisfaction. Plus you serve your fellow call recipients by slowing down this evil operation's efforts to defraud them.

This is another telemarketer which has been harassing us with calls--most recently, 3/20/14@3:45PM; 3/25@12:20PM;& 3/28@10:20AM. Answered once & got a recorded msg. which said calling about "your credit cd. svcs." Returned call to 360-322-6685 & got msg. that said if one wanted to "stop receiving promotions" press #1 & would remove our # from "Preferred Marketing List!!" WE HAVE BEEN ON THE DO-NOT-CALL LIST FOR YEARS! We are truly frustrated by continuing to receive these robo-calls despite being on the DNC list. My suggestion: Contact the FTC via the "Do Not Call" website & register an official complaint with as much as detail as possible. Hopefully, they'll track them down & stop the activity!

We receive calls from this number on a continual basis despite demanding that they remove us from their call list and the fact that we are on Bothe the State and National Do Not Call Registers. They claim they are calling to help reduce credit card rates. It seems they are simply Phishing for personal information. Simply do not answer or hang up on them immediately, the more you tell them you are not interested the more rude they become.

I cannot strees enough how tired and beyond disturbed my family and I are of these phone calls. Just as it was stated above by others: "CARD CERVICES" DO NOT STOP CALLING! They call from different numbers at any time, and they call on our home phone number as well as cellphone. I did tell them numerous times that our phone numbers are on the Do Not Call List, but they could care less. I try to speak to their so-called representatives and they start offending, verbally abuse you in the worst way using the dirties vocabulary ever... I seriously am purely discasted, nauseated. Enough said... whoever can, please TAKE ACTION!

I'm writing a few of those numbers that keep calling from the CARD CERVICES:
347-329-4437
718-210-0309 (the most recurring)
553-112-3820
209-665-3978

So tired of these calls. I, too, am on Federal DNC registry, and like so many of the other posters, when I ask to have my number removed, the hang up occurs.I am going to contact my local network affiliate ABC station - and ask their consumer reporters to do an expose. I suggest others do the same.

In response to: sarah

this number keeps coming up on my caller display, and as I don't recognise it I usually don't asnwer it. when I did answer there was a female voice at the other end with a foreign accent who put the phone down after saying hello. Now I know it is another cold call I'm left wondering what is the point of having an unlisted number and having BT screen out cold callers. So many are getting through the net.

Caller type: Unknown

They call a lot like the many other scam calls we receive on a daily basis and something SERIOUSLY NEEDS TO BE DONE especially that most of them have an Asian accent but trying to convince you they are American.

I've had identity fraud twice and a few years back this got very ugly when I was obtaining a security clearance to go into federal prison for my job and was denied access. I was told that there was warrant out for my arrest on the West Coast. I was so scared, could not travel and because of the seriousness I had to appoint a lawyer so I wouldn't lose my job. My lawyer sent me to the police department where I had to have my fingers printed and then sent all the required documentation to DC which took 2 months to be investigated. PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND AWARE.!!!!!!!!

Give them a valid card number and it will be maxed out within a few hours. They have been reported to the DNC so often that they are the single most reported complaint. DNC is so weak that reporting them again is pretty much a waste of your time. Does the US govt know who they are? Almost certainly they do, only they probably cannot touch them as they operate from a country who is giving them protection, for a cut, I'm sure. Been told by our state PUC that the calls originate in SW Asia and that over the years they have spoofed caller IDs using several thousand fake numbers. They use voice over IP, so to some extent, they can be traced, if you are the NSA. So, ya, Uncle Sam probably has a very good idea who they are, only they cannot admit to it for national security reasons.

They call several times a week, claiming it is my final chance to lower the interest rate on my credit card. Although the call goes to my answering machine it is nevertheless very annoying that they call so often. I too am on the DO NOT CALL registry, but it does not seem to matter to them. Can't some agency just put a stop to them?

She hung up as soon as I said that, which indicates a scam to me. And they call relentlessly. I tried to call the number back and it rings to hold but no company greeting or anything.
