Called 7/12/12 at 1 pm EDST. No message. Called the number and immediately got a message inviting me to enter my number into the "Do not call list." The owner of the number is not identified, so I will not enter my number ... who knows what kind of scam this is!

They called at about 1:55 p.m. my cell phone. It was a recorded message saying it was my last chance to lower my interest rate on my credit card, "please press 1". I pressed "1" and was instantly connected to a rep with a HEAVY accent. She claimed she could lower my interest rate on my credit card. When I asked which credit card. She said the visa or mastercard with the balance of over $3000. I said I have both and they both have a balance over $3000. I insisted she at least give me the name of the bank I had the credit card with. She said one credit card starts with a 4 and one with a 5. By looking at my various credit cards, visas start with a 4 and mastercards start with a 5. This company is SCAM. Do not give them any information. When I realized they didn't have any of my information I told her I was not interested and hung up the phone.

ROBO CALL WAS RECEIVED ON MY CELL PHONE. SAME MESSAGE AS OTHERS REPORTED ON THIS SITE. LAST CHANCE TO REDUCE INTEREST RATES ON MY CREDIT CARD. I KNOW THIS IS A SCAM. I'VE RECEIVED THESE CALLS ON MY HOME NUMBER IN THE PAST. I PRESSED 1 AND TOLD THE LIVE PERSON THAT THIS WAS RECEIVED ON MY CELL PHONE WHICH IS ON THE DO NOT CALL LIST AND HOW DID THEY GET THE NUMBER? SHE HUNG UP WHILE I WAS TALKING. THIS IS THE FIRST SCAM/MARKETING CALL I'VE EVER RECEIVED ON MY CELL PHONE ON THIS NUMBER I'VE HAD FOR OVER 10 YEARS. I REPORTED IT TO THE DO NOT CALL LIST GOVERNMENT WEBSITE, AS I DID WHEN I RECEIVED THESE CALLS ON MY HOME NUMBER.

No message, didn't answer. Had the same call a week ago. Got a call last week from a political site wanted to ask how I was going to vote. They said the computer randomly just dials numbers and if someone answers they pick up.

I've been getting calls from this "company" for about 6 months now. All from different phone numbers because every time they call I block the number so they just call from another number. Every time I press 1 to speak to a live operator before I can get my complete sentence out about removing my phone number and to stop calling they hang up on me. I've pressed 2 to be removed but they keep calling. Now every time they call I just block the new number and file a complaint with the Do Not Call Registry and also filed a complaint with my state attorney's office. They still keep calling....nobody cares. They also call from numbers that are not even valid phone numbers so this company has a program that will call you from a valid #, but when the call is made it goes thru a dummy phone number that displays on your caller id and doesn't exist when you try to call it back.

Also, the next time they call get a live operator and act like you are intersted in what they are offering, and try to get as much information about the company as possible, like the real business name, where they are located, BUT DON'T GIVE OUT ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION or GIVE THEM FAKE INFO, then you can file a report against them.

How it works:
http://onthespotblog.com/on-the-spot-blog-stirs-up-rachel-at-cardholder-services/ ...
http://onthespotblog.com/tag/cardholder-services/

We need CRIMINAL penalties against the companies that are profiting from these calls. Follow the money, slap them in jail, no one left to outsource to overseas boiler rooms, problem solved.
Since they are operating across borders it should become a federal felony and should be handled by the FBI under the RICO Act.

These calls are coming from call centers in Costa Rica and India and they are using spoofed (false) numbers, which in itself is illegal. They do cold calling for or sell the leads to numerous companies in this country and they know that what they are doing is illegal. Tomorrow this same number may be selling Cruises, Timeshares or Security Systems but if you follow the money it usually ends up in the hands of an American LLC. Keep complaining to the FTC and FCC, and start bugging our politicians to pass laws to make it punishable in criminal court instead of handing out fines that they don't pay. Another course of action is to contact phone companies to find out why they won't block spoofed numbers. With today's technology that should be an easy thing to do, unless they are somehow profiting from the use of their systems.

Robocalls are illegal unless you have given them prior permission in writing (not worded into some small print contract from a 3rd party) and are absolutely illegal to a cell phone. The Telephone Consumer Protection Act permits individuals who have received certain unlawful telemarketing, such as junk faxes
or telemarketing calls, to sue the violator in state courts where they may be awarded up to $1500 for each violation.

People should continually file complaints with their Attorney Generals office and also file with:

If enough people keep complaining then maybe something will get done.

The FTC has already taken action against some of them:

unsolicited and unwanted robocall to my home phone. Since I did not recognize the number that cam up on my caller ID, I let the call go to my answering machine as I always do with unrecognized calls. I will not be a slave to that ringing box. If the calling party is a real person and leaves a message, I MAY pick up the phone and answer IF it is convenient for ME.

Caller name: Credit Card Services

This is one of those lower-your-credit-card-interest-rate scams. I know Congress, or at least Chuck Schumer's office (New York Senator) took action against this class of fraud a few years ago, but it's whack-a-mole -- they keep popping up. I always press 1 to get the live operator, then tell them they should find another job because the company they work for will be shut down, hopefully ASAP. The area code is Washington State.

telemarketer:"how can i help you blah blah blah abt modifications.."
me" you need to take me off you list because this phone number is on the do not call list"
telemarketer" only if you tell me you love me"
me "you are disgusting!"
telemarketer " i love you too..." and he gets going and i hung up!
