Tried to tell me that my computer was downloading viruses and that they located my computer with a server. Asked me if I was the owner of the computer. I asked him what was the name of the owner of the computer listed and who was my internet provider. He then hung up. Call came from Miami, Fla or around there. Guy had a East Indian accent.

Caller name: Microsoft Service Desk

Caller type: Scammer/Fraudster

This is part of the Microsoft Service Desk scam which they claim they are, then they will use an English name like John, Daniel or Tom but they are Indians or Pakis. First they called from a private number. It was a calling center in India or Pakistan, you could hear several of these criminals in the background, the whole the virus story. Do your search, they are trying to install virus or get your credit card number. I told him to call late, then they called me later from these number 305-356-9999 and 703-587-54545. I will report them to Microsoft. Blame this in all those US companies who moved their Support Services to India or some other third world country. Now all those former employees are trying to rip off Americans. It must be working because they have been doing it for a few years as far as I can from my research, do not give them any info, and call your credit card and cancel it right away if you download it anything take your computer to a computer store to get it clean. They particular look for the elderly or poor people with no computer skills so warn your friends or grandparents. Also the US need to get more privacy laws in place, too much info online, and they are pulling your number from there

The first thing I do, since they call me about every day, is ask for them to verify that they are whom they say they are to which they replied tell me what info you need? I said if they didn't know how to verify themselves. Then I begin asking questions like 'is that a call center? Is everyone in the background federal agents too? Golly gee, my government wants to give me money? I DUN HIT THE JACKPOT! CLETUS - DONT TELL NONE UH THE YOUNGINS. And I continue this way for a duration. Sometimes when they call I go along with it and then press the phone receiver into my toddler's screaming fit. Other times I just ask them why they' are trying to steal money. Is there another job they could get? Like does it make you feel good when you steal?
I'm excited for the next call, I have my character all planned out.

Called twice so far today. Once call is answered there is no response from the other end and the line goes dead.

I filled an online complaint with the FCC. Additionally, the FCC states on their webpage https://www.fcc.gov/guides/caller-id-and-spoofing

"To block your telephone number for any call, dial *67before dialing the telephone number."

I hope this helps others.

I've received dozens of calls since updating my resume on job search web sites. This one says I've been awarded a grant ($7k to $9k) from the federal government and only need to call a number and give a code to receive it. This is the Florida number. But I get calls from New York, DC, and Ohio as well.

I have received calls before from this number recently, but today I answered.

Similar to what others said above, a man called with what sounded like a South Asian accent, with lots of noise in the background like a call center, very politely said he is from something like the Grant Department of the Government of United States. According to him I have $9,000 in grants that I am entitled to have. I asked for his phone number to call back, and said this doesn't sound legit. He then just quietly hung up. I immediately called and reported this phone number to the US FTC: https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0277-create-identity-theft-report

A number like this has called me before (indian accent) saying I won $9000 in grants & that all I had to do was go to a western union to pick it up. SCAM! And he was VERY rude when I told him he was a scam.
This exact number just called me today (with indian accent) and asked for me and didn't say anything, I kept asking (very rudely with violent language) if they were going to talk and he said "F*ck you* back to me and hung up.

I just received a call from this phone number and the heavily accented individual stated that they received a message from my computer that I had a virus.

I asked which computer he was referencing and he stated, "your personal computer that you use at home."

I said that I didn't have a computer at home.

He said, "Are you lying to me?"

I asked to speak with his supervisor.

He said that his supervisor was busy.

I told him I would wait.

He said, "I'll put you on hold."

Then he hung up.

I called my local police and filed a report.

Since I am employed as an IT person, I tried fishing for information on her firm and it's services so I could file a complaint. She panicked and hung up. Sadly the caller ID was a spoof number and they are using VOIP through a spoofed IP address as well to prevent getting busted...Dicks...I need to introduce them to various Nigerian princes so they can help each other with their fiances...
