Asked to verify information. He knew a lot about me and my doctor. I was very curious about what he knew so I stayed on the call. He knew my doctor's office address, my address, my DOB and some medical history (which I don't have much of.) Very suspicious.

They said they worked for "many insurance companies" and did not give me a name of their company until I asked 12 times. They then said 'Max RX" and I could not find them online. They said they were calling from Tampa, Fla yet their number came up from Canada. Asked me personal questions about my medical records, my doctor's name, etc. They did not know what I was referring to when I asked them about the HIPAA act, until I spelled it and he had to look it up.

Repeated calls over the last week, claims to be from BCBS, but when advised I did not have coverage through BCBS, then claim to be an umbrella company for multiple insurance agencies. Caller then asks to confirm some information, including Name, Address, name of a Dr. you have seen in the last year. Sounded very suspicious... Needless to say, I have contacted any insurance company that I deal with & done my own "verification". Currently, 4 calls in the last 4 days.

Called from Markham, Ontario, Canada @ 12:15 PM on Dec 13th 2017.
Said that they were calling from Anthem Blue-cross Blue-shield
The first person seemed to know the name, date of birth and address and requested confirmation of all three.
He started asking me questions on pain and health ...
When questioned he transferred me to a supervisor who said that his name was Francis Bacon - "as in Kevin Bacon". He said he was located in Tampa, Florida. Asked for his employee ID - he gave that as EY0135. Asked for his phone number - he gave that as 800 922 3242 . He asked for my doctor's name.
Asked him how I would know that this was really Anthem - he said to call the 1-800- number on the back of my health insurance card and ask for the verification department.
He then wanted to know if I took any vitamins -- looks like he was trying to record me saying "Yes" again.
When I called Anthem, they thought the 800 number was a number for providers to contact Anthem - seemed very blase' about the whole ID theft possibility. Didn't even offer to put a note in the file till I insisted.
Anthem could not find the employee name or the employee ID in their records once I insisted that they look it up. Didn't have an answer for how Anthem would take my information and make that part of their fraud alerts to customers .... Shameful.

Caller had mid eastern accent. Said he was Blue Cross Blue Shield. Started by trying me to verify my address. I told him we did not have BCBS he then said he represented other Ins, companies and stated a couple. I said I don't know you and did not trust the call. He started to give me his employment number and ID. Interesting because he never told me who he worked for. I said that means nothing to me at this point, I don't trust you, and I hung up.

The woman said she needed to verify my health record for Blue Cross and Blue Shield. She started with my name, then asked to verify my address, where she listed an old address. I told her that I didn't have a Blue Cross and Blue Shield account. She then spouted off a bunch of other insurance company names that she claimed to work for, including Humana and Tricare, and continued to press me for information, like my primary physician's name. She finally hung up after it became obvious that I wouldn't disclose any of that information without verification of her legitimacy.

Claim they are from Blue Cross and Blue Shield and need to verify my address and other personal information. Receive 4 calls in past 2 days. Their accent is tough to understand (for me). When pressed for further information from them, they just keep repeating the original scripted questions until hung up on. Redialing the phone number is answered with a message that you have reached a number that has not been set up yet.

They claim to be a company "representing multiple health insurance companies" and that they are "renewing healthcare for the 2018 fiscal year." Funny thing: I'm a teacher and my healthcare runs July-July. Callers have Heavyyyy middle eastern accents from a Canadian number. I told them to kick rocks in the not-so-nicest way possible.
