Caller name: Key Bank
Caller type: Unknown
A woman called saying she was going to talk to me about my account with Key Bank. She had my name and said she needed my phone number so that she could look up my account. I gave her the phone number so that I could see what she was going to do, figuring she already had the phone number anyway. Then she wanted the last four digits of my Social Security number. At this point I said that I wouldn't give out any further personal information over the phone. She asked if I didn't want to find out about an issue with my Key Bank account. I kept asking what the problem was, that Key Bank has never called me like this before. She kept asking - didn't I want to find out about my account? I said I didn't have the slightest idea what she was talking about and that I would go into my branch bank and ask one of the managers there what the problem is. Earlier today I got an email supposedly from Key Bank saying that I was over my credit limit. I am not over any credit limit. So this must be a scam to get people to give out their account numbers.
