"Steve Jackson" (heavy Indian accent) had left me a voice mail. "Adam Jones" (heavy Indian accent) claimed the IRS was on the way to my home address to arrest me for $1253 of 2009-2010 back taxes. He did not have a correct email address, so he said a payment voucher would be sent to my house via snail mail. "Adam" gave his badge number as 11738. He claimed to be in Los Angeles, but he did not immediately know what time it was in LA. When asked about the weather in LA, he waited a few seconds and then gave the temperature in celsius.
Asked for my husband that wasn't home at the time. Max Andersen said he was from legal Affairs Treasury Dept.. & his Sr officers name was Adan Jones. He sounds like the same person that calls me on a regular basis claiming to be calling for Micro soft windows. Another money scam.
Another scammer. We've been getting a lot of these. Calls aggressively for about half an hour. Don't pick up. We THINK we've gotten these guys before a month ago under a DC phone number. They didn't stop calling for an hour, we ended up going to the local police about it. Police called them and were amused because the scammers didn't believe that they were the feds.
Aggressive and bullying but they can't do anything to you.
Caller has heavy accent, says he is from legal affairs of the US treasury. He says there is a legal action against me and if I am too busy to respond have my lawyer call, otherwise I will be in a legal mess. Have a blessed day. Is he kidding me where is the certified letter informing me about this legal action? He has left 2 or 3 messages for the last 3 days. Keep it up and I will take legal action against you!!
Man with heavy Indian accent has called twice in 2 days. Made same threats as mentioned above and I basically told them I know this is a scam and to stop calling before I report them. Time will tell if they stop calling. This same thing happened to my elderly mom and I told them the same thing. Instead of working for a living these people prey on people and take their money with no guilt. If they call again I will be reporting them!
A man named "Roger", heavy east indian accent, said myself and husband will be arrested immediately. I told him we do not owe the IRS and to remove my number from his dialing list. He became belligerent and continued to say the police were on their way to my home now. I've contacted the Colorado AG's office and made a complaint and have registered a complaint with the FTC.gov/complaint.
This heavy accent Indian man is very persistent. He claims that he is calling from the dept of legal affairs. I told him do not call me again because I know he is a scammer. He ask me how and I told him that I checked with the Dept of Legal Affairs, I will call the police if he called again.. Guess what? After I hung up, he kept calling and I finally have power off the phone. He ends up leaving a very unclear message excepting his name " Steve Jackson". FYI, Dept of Legal Affairs only send correspondence via mail, not phone.
Received two VMs (4/19 & 4/21) from a man w/a very thick Indian accent, both of which I had great difficulty understanding. I returned the call on the supplied/Caller ID'd number (213) 375-0946 (Los Angeles) where "Adam Jones" (The same voice who left the messages) answered. I asked what this was regarding, who he was, why hadn't a letter been sent to me, etc. He said he was with the Dept of Legal Affairs, and eventually after me persistently asking, was told he was an officer w/the Dept of The Treasury. He stated a complaint had been filed against me and that a police officer would arrive to arrest me if I didn't cooperate. He then asked the name/# of my lawyer - and suggested I get a criminal attorney. He said I was going to go to jail. I told him to do what he's gotta do. I will mention, he became very perturbed as I asked more questions, and especially so when I suggested this may be a scam. Tips that this is all complete BS; First VM was on a Sat. He referred to me as "Mike" (I've always used my legal name of Michael on any legal/business/official documentation) - unprofessional. He had an old address of mine on file though the IRS has had my current address since I moved two yrs ago. He wouldn't provide me with a ref number or any pertinent information other than that there were problems w/my 2008 taxes. I'm not a racist; His name was supposedly "Adam Jones" - really, with such a heavy Indian Accent? ..Sure sounded fake to me. From complaints I've read on other sites, Indian men w/names like "Paul Smith", "John Richards", "David Allen", etc are calling and pretty much saying the exact same thing. I was worried for a min because '08 was the yr my father passed and I took care of his affairs after, but all taxes were filed then, all matters closed. Thanks to sites like this, and discovering others have complained, I'm not worried. "Have a blessed day.", as "Adam Jones" said at the end of both messages ;)
Heavy Indian accent asked for me by name. My wife hung up on him before he could say any more. Called aggressively also in between calls we were getting calls from another number 999-999-2112. I Finally called my cell number and left the connection open for a while to end the calls.
I was called by this number at 6:30 a.m. this morning. There was silence at the send of the line. A message was left on my voice mail and I was asked to call back that number with the same message as previously reported above. I was in trouble and if I didn't call back the number have my attorney call them. Since I captured the message on voice mail I called the suggested legal affairs department and placed the complaint. The report was taken but when I asked why they haven't shut this telephone number down yet, he referred me to their website. www.ftc.gov. Don't fall for this fear call from the Los Angeles area. Advise all your friends and elderly people. Dave Jackson had a heavy Indian accent. Be proactive don't get caught.
I got a call/voicemail from this woman today saying she was from the Department of Internal Affairs and that I need to get a lawyer because I owe taxes. She had a VERY heavy middle eastern accent. I couldn't even understand some of it. I knew it was a scam the second I heard it. I just laughed at the message and deleted it.
On April 30, 2014 @ 3:40 in the afternoon I have received the same phone call from Adam Jones he left a message on my voice mail at work, but when I called the number 213-375-0946 a Steve Jackson answered the line and both guys has an heavy Indian accent and sound like the same person. He proceeded to tell me that I owe the $1,700.00 for my 2008 taxes that were filled wrong, told me he was calling from the Department of Legal Affairs. Told me get a lawyer to represent me in court and if I didn't a warrant is going to be issued for my arrest, said, "if I didn't pay immediately there was nothing he could do and that the police will be at place of work before give today. Same as everyone above, why there wasn't a notice in regards to the 2008 taxes sent to my home. He became silence on the phone, when I said hello, he then said, yes I am here, I told him I know that you are there answer my question. He answered my question with a question - you didn't get the notice. I said look man I don't know what you are talking about and further more I don't know what the heck you are saying. He told me not to mentioned this to anyone or a 3rd party that this is a legal matter between them and if I did more action would be brought against me. I said ok I tell you what give me five to ten minutes to call you back. He said if the line drops there is nothing he can do and that the police will be coming after me, told him fine do what you have to do. Please be A WARE OF THIS SCAM...I have registered this complaint with the FTC.gov/complaint.
"Steve Jackson" original # 213-375-0946 , now using #213-603-9089, claiming to be fro the Dept of Legal Affairs of the US Treasury. Dude is not Steve Jackson because he has a very heavy accent that can barely be understood. When you do not cooperate they will transfer you to other people with heavy accents as well and no one can tell you why you've never been informed of anything to do with your "unpaid taxes" by mail. My taxes have been always been paid. They tell you a certain amount you owe and then the amount continues to change. When I refused to give them any verification information they became angry and hung up on me. It's been about a month since I received the first call and they started calling again about a week ago. I now ignore them. It's not worth my time to argue with morons like these.
So like all the other comments mentioned above, Steve Jackson (thick indian accent) called me out of the blue telling me I need to contact him at the "Department of Legal Affairs". I didn't understand his first voicemail and left a message for him. He then calls me back and leaves the same message verbatim. Now knowing this to be fraud, I ignored his next few calls. At one point he called me 4 consecutive times in a row after declining them one after another. I soon blocked his number and hope he contracts lou gehrig's disease in the very near future.
Steve Jackson called my wife's cell phone. Had her a bit worried with the same verbiage as previously posted. I knew it was a scam as Verizon wireless had informed of scammers and hackers that use intimidating formats as "Steve's". And of course, The name, "Steve Jackson", with that 7/11 "you be having a cherry snow cone accent", come on "Steve", really???
Any Government entity will initially attempt contact with any citizen by U.S. Mail.
So, I called him back and told him I was with the department of investigations and he needed to contact me immediately.
