Caller name: steve jackson
Steve Jackson called my wife's cell phone. Had her a bit worried with the same verbiage as previously posted. I knew it was a scam as Verizon wireless had informed of scammers and hackers that use intimidating formats as "Steve's". And of course, The name, "Steve Jackson", with that 7/11 "you be having a cherry snow cone accent", come on "Steve", really???
Any Government entity will initially attempt contact with any citizen by U.S. Mail.
So, I called him back and told him I was with the department of investigations and he needed to contact me immediately.
One ring and hang-up...call received at 11:19AM on Thurs. June 18, 2015...I really hope I don't receive this type call again. They can be a real pest. It's really sad that some people's lives and jobs even consist of harrassing others and to this degree.
Caller name: Steve Jackson
"Steve Jackson" (heavy Indian accent) had left me a voice mail. "Adam Jones" (heavy Indian accent) claimed the IRS was on the way to my home address to arrest me for $1253 of 2009-2010 back taxes. He did not have a correct email address, so he said a payment voucher would be sent to my house via snail mail. "Adam" gave his badge number as 11738. He claimed to be in Los Angeles, but he did not immediately know what time it was in LA. When asked about the weather in LA, he waited a few seconds and then gave the temperature in celsius.
Caller name: Some scam artist
Another scammer. We've been getting a lot of these. Calls aggressively for about half an hour. Don't pick up. We THINK we've gotten these guys before a month ago under a DC phone number. They didn't stop calling for an hour, we ended up going to the local police about it. Police called them and were amused because the scammers didn't believe that they were the feds.
Aggressive and bullying but they can't do anything to you.
Caller name: heavy accent indian man
This heavy accent Indian man is very persistent. He claims that he is calling from the dept of legal affairs. I told him do not call me again because I know he is a scammer. He ask me how and I told him that I checked with the Dept of Legal Affairs, I will call the police if he called again.. Guess what? After I hung up, he kept calling and I finally have power off the phone. He ends up leaving a very unclear message excepting his name " Steve Jackson". FYI, Dept of Legal Affairs only send correspondence via mail, not phone.
Caller name: Dave Jackson
I was called by this number at 6:30 a.m. this morning. There was silence at the send of the line. A message was left on my voice mail and I was asked to call back that number with the same message as previously reported above. I was in trouble and if I didn't call back the number have my attorney call them. Since I captured the message on voice mail I called the suggested legal affairs department and placed the complaint. The report was taken but when I asked why they haven't shut this telephone number down yet, he referred me to their website. www.ftc.gov. Don't fall for this fear call from the Los Angeles area. Advise all your friends and elderly people. Dave Jackson had a heavy Indian accent. Be proactive don't get caught.
Caller name: Elisha Rosario
I got a call/voicemail from this woman today saying she was from the Department of Internal Affairs and that I need to get a lawyer because I owe taxes. She had a VERY heavy middle eastern accent. I couldn't even understand some of it. I knew it was a scam the second I heard it. I just laughed at the message and deleted it.
I got a call from this Steven Jackson and claimed I owed back taxes from 2008. I mentioned that I was a student in 2008 and that I was working barely but was still able to fulfill my tax bill. He claimed I owed $5,000 then I said that is absolute bs and he got so pissed that he threatened me with deportation. I said you can't deport a U.S. Citizen who was born in the U.S. He then said the police are on their way. I said good tell me where I live. He gave me the name of a town in Maine. I practically died laughing. I hung up on him and will be filing a police report or a complaint with the CA AG along with a FTC complaint. To this fraudster: enjoy your time in prison and don't drop the soap... Actually I take that back drop the soap so you can be Bubba's love toy
Caller name: Adam Jones 443-898-5350
Adam Jones, #11738 from the US treaurers office, legal affairs called. He indicated I owed back taxes from 2010 and 2011 in the amount of $4403. A warrent would be issued for my arrest the moment we hung up. I could not pay over the phone. I had to go to Meijers and obtain a "voucher". He will attempt to call the IRS investigating officer to stop the warrent while I was on my way to Meijers. He stated he will call my cell phone and give me the name and address of where to send the voucher once I get to Meijer. REALLY?! I asked to speak to his SR or direclty to the IRS investigating officer...he got mad. I repeatedly asked him to slow down as I could not understand him due to his accent and he actually yelled at me. I then hung up and called the IRS. I am glad that I saw this on the internet as he had me there for the first couple of minutes...
Pretty much word for word as other people, just a different amount, but also 2008 (i found it interesting they are choosing that year for a lot of people). Total bogus threats, and I would be going to jail if i didnt immediatley pay 2200.00. Told 'Bob" never to call again and that I would be reporting him and hung up..
Caller name: Max Anderson
Asked for my husband that wasn't home at the time. Max Andersen said he was from legal Affairs Treasury Dept.. & his Sr officers name was Adan Jones. He sounds like the same person that calls me on a regular basis claiming to be calling for Micro soft windows. Another money scam.
Caller name: D. Richards
Caller has heavy accent, says he is from legal affairs of the US treasury. He says there is a legal action against me and if I am too busy to respond have my lawyer call, otherwise I will be in a legal mess. Have a blessed day. Is he kidding me where is the certified letter informing me about this legal action? He has left 2 or 3 messages for the last 3 days. Keep it up and I will take legal action against you!!
Claims to be reward redemption. I have received over a dozen calls from this number. Each time it is a recording, calls itself 'Lisa', and it will even leave voicemails. I have selected option 2 each time, which is supposed to remove my number from their calling list, but they don't stop calling. My number is on the nationwide do not call list.
Just rung once and hung up. So i'm not sure if its the same person everyone else has been talking about but if they call back and say i have to pay money in back taxes. I will gladly say. I haven't done taxes yet because i haven't had my first job yet.
So i couldn't possibly owe back taxes !
Caller name: Adam 'Full Of $hit' Jones
Received two VMs (4/19 & 4/21) from a man w/a very thick Indian accent, both of which I had great difficulty understanding. I returned the call on the supplied/Caller ID'd number (213) 375-0946 (Los Angeles) where "Adam Jones" (The same voice who left the messages) answered. I asked what this was regarding, who he was, why hadn't a letter been sent to me, etc. He said he was with the Dept of Legal Affairs, and eventually after me persistently asking, was told he was an officer w/the Dept of The Treasury. He stated a complaint had been filed against me and that a police officer would arrive to arrest me if I didn't cooperate. He then asked the name/# of my lawyer - and suggested I get a criminal attorney. He said I was going to go to jail. I told him to do what he's gotta do. I will mention, he became very perturbed as I asked more questions, and especially so when I suggested this may be a scam. Tips that this is all complete BS; First VM was on a Sat. He referred to me as "Mike" (I've always used my legal name of Michael on any legal/business/official documentation) - unprofessional. He had an old address of mine on file though the IRS has had my current address since I moved two yrs ago. He wouldn't provide me with a ref number or any pertinent information other than that there were problems w/my 2008 taxes. I'm not a racist; His name was supposedly "Adam Jones" - really, with such a heavy Indian Accent? ..Sure sounded fake to me. From complaints I've read on other sites, Indian men w/names like "Paul Smith", "John Richards", "David Allen", etc are calling and pretty much saying the exact same thing. I was worried for a min because '08 was the yr my father passed and I took care of his affairs after, but all taxes were filed then, all matters closed. Thanks to sites like this, and discovering others have complained, I'm not worried. "Have a blessed day.", as "Adam Jones" said at the end of both messages ;)
Caller name: No freakin' idea!
I got this call twice and I cannot get a voice (noone on the line when I say hello) let alone intent of the call. I do sometimes get calls from District of Columbia (scam). I pay taxes and have stellar credit so, this is bs but I appreciate others noting details of the call!
Caller name: wife answered... I don't know his name
Heavy Indian accent asked for me by name. My wife hung up on him before he could say any more. Called aggressively also in between calls we were getting calls from another number 999-999-2112. I Finally called my cell number and left the connection open for a while to end the calls.
Caller name: Adam Jones
Same as all the rest, claiming I owe taxes from 2008. I kept questioning and asked why I didn't receive anything in the mail, he couldn't answer that, I said I will just have my lawyer call, and then he hung up on me.
HAS CALLED ME TWO DAYS IN A ROW. I DONT ANSWER MY PHONE IF I DONT KNOW THE NUMBER. I GOOGLED THE # AND FOUND MUCH INFO ON THE CREEP. THEIR PHONE SERVICE SHOULD BE CUT OFF AND SOMETHING NATION WIDE SENT TO ALL PHONE SERVICE PROVIDERS.
Caller name: Steve Jackson
On April 30, 2014 @ 3:40 in the afternoon I have received the same phone call from Adam Jones he left a message on my voice mail at work, but when I called the number 213-375-0946 a Steve Jackson answered the line and both guys has an heavy Indian accent and sound like the same person. He proceeded to tell me that I owe the $1,700.00 for my 2008 taxes that were filled wrong, told me he was calling from the Department of Legal Affairs. Told me get a lawyer to represent me in court and if I didn't a warrant is going to be issued for my arrest, said, "if I didn't pay immediately there was nothing he could do and that the police will be at place of work before give today. Same as everyone above, why there wasn't a notice in regards to the 2008 taxes sent to my home. He became silence on the phone, when I said hello, he then said, yes I am here, I told him I know that you are there answer my question. He answered my question with a question - you didn't get the notice. I said look man I don't know what you are talking about and further more I don't know what the heck you are saying. He told me not to mentioned this to anyone or a 3rd party that this is a legal matter between them and if I did more action would be brought against me. I said ok I tell you what give me five to ten minutes to call you back. He said if the line drops there is nothing he can do and that the police will be coming after me, told him fine do what you have to do. Please be A WARE OF THIS SCAM...I have registered this complaint with the FTC.gov/complaint.
Caller name: Steve
Phone call from someone with a thick accent, but since I am on the computer, I looked up number and saw it was a scam, so I played along. "Steve" told me he was with the IRS and that I owe a sizable amount and if I do not make a payment now, authorities will be sent immediately to arrest me. I told him I had no money but would be willing to blow him for the amount I owe. He hung up.
This caller has phoned me several times (10+) over the past couple of weeks. Don't understand why phone companies can't do something about this. It probably would cost them too much money to do their job. If we harass someone, they will prosecute us. It is about time phone companies take action by blocking there phones from the network. Why do we have to do this? Complain to your phone carriers. Call them as many times as you get un-wanted calls. Read the FCC warnings from your phone carriers, in every phone book and on-line.
Got a call from this number and I answered but they hung up. So I looked into it and went to google. I typed in the number and this page was the first to come up. I heard no response when I answered so I am not sure what it was about. My phone says they are from LA and that's all I got.
Caller name: Steven Jackson
Steven Jackson called me today and said i owed 3450.00 for taxes in 2011 and 2012 and told me i would go to jail if I didnt pay.. The phone number 3239523906
He gave a badge # 115377 and said he was with the Treasuray dept..
Got a call front this number, didn't answer as I did not recognize it. Walked away from my desk at work and called it back. There was a prerecorded message stating I had visited some affiliate website and won a $100 gift card, to press 1 to claim it and 2 to be placed on a do not call list. I pressed 2. I really hope they don't call again. I haven't visited any websites other than email or work related (aside from this one now) in 6 months.
Man with heavy Indian accent has called twice in 2 days. Made same threats as mentioned above and I basically told them I know this is a scam and to stop calling before I report them. Time will tell if they stop calling. This same thing happened to my elderly mom and I told them the same thing. Instead of working for a living these people prey on people and take their money with no guilt. If they call again I will be reporting them!
Caller name: Legal Affairs
A man named "Roger", heavy east indian accent, said myself and husband will be arrested immediately. I told him we do not owe the IRS and to remove my number from his dialing list. He became belligerent and continued to say the police were on their way to my home now. I've contacted the Colorado AG's office and made a complaint and have registered a complaint with the FTC.gov/complaint.
