User Complaints for 212-777-3456

I have received calls from this number for the past few nights and finally decided to answer it. Tonight someone called me at 10pm claiming I have downloaded spyware and malware and wants me to turn on my computer and follow steps to remove said items. I told her I have not downloaded anything lately and she kept arguing with that I had downloaded files that are infected. After I refused to follow her instructions she went silent on the phone. Definitely sounds like BS to me. Hope this company gets in trouble for the c**p they're pulling.

Caller name: Moviefone/AOL

This company is Moviefone or moviefone.com-------- checkout the website.
They are owned by AOL. Do you or have you ever done business with AOL ?
mail, AIM, Huffington Post etc etc etc. You can google all aol owned online websites.
If so you are screwed. They will keep calling. No Call Lists are worthless because you
have done business with AOL.
The only thing we can do as a group is Harass Moviefone and AOL until this is stopped !
Those of you who use a pay service with AOL MUST CALL and let them know you will
cancel your service if this isn't stopped !
Those of us who just use their mail and read Huff Post must use their FEEDBACK form
to let them know there is plenty of other free e-mail services out there to use as well as
free news outlets and we have no problem switching to one !!!
This has to be our own Social Media Group and Occupy AOL & Moviefone !!!
They have no right to Harass Us !!!! That is why you see such old messages on these boards !
AOL has been going broke for years and will stoop to no level, including Harassment to earn a buck !
It Is Up To Us Folks ! No One Will Do It For Us !

Twice today this call came in with a heavy oriental-accented person on the line saying he/she is from Windows tech support or something similar calling about my computer. I've received the same call several days in a row. At least twice now, I've angrily asked them to remove my number and quit calling me and have hung up on them.

Caller name: Jerry

This person "Jerry" called saying he was from the "Windows Technical Department". I have a brand new PC with antivirus installed, so it could hardly be "infected" with viruses as he stated, therefore I was immediately suspicious. The fact he called me and didn't sound that professional also doubled the suspicion. While placating him on the phone a bit, I looked up some scam/hoax sites on the internet and found this was a fraud.

Caller name: "FOOD BANK NYC"

I JUST RECEIVED A CALL FROM (CALLER ID SAID "FOOD BANK NYC") TELEPHONE # 212-777-3456. THE MAN I SPOKE TO WAS INDIAN (I HAD A VERY HARD TIME UNDERSTANDING HIM). HE SAID THAT I HAD DOWNLOADED A VERY BAD VIRUS ON MY COMPUTER. WHEN I TOLD HIM THAT I HAD THE LATEST VIRUS & SPYWARE DETECTION, HE SAID THAT THIS VIRUS WOULDN'T SHOW UP ON MY SPYWARE. HE WANTED ME TO TURN OFF MY COMPUTER, THEN FOLLOW HIS INSTRUCTIONS. I TOLD HIM I COULDN'T UNDERSTAND HIM & I WANTED TO SPEAK TO HIS SUPERVISOR. WHEN HE GOT ON, I ASKED HIM WHY THE CALLER ID SAID FOOD BANK. HE GAVE ME SOME LINE ABOUT TECHNICAL PROBLEMS WITH THEIR PHONES. HE SAID THE SAME THING THE 1ST GUY SAID. I TOLD HIM THAT I WASN'T GOING TO LET HIM DO ANYTHING TO MY COMPUTER AND HUNG UP.(THEY CALLED RIGHT BACK, BUT I DIDN'T ANSWER. I FIGURED THEY WANTED TO PUT A VIRUS OR SPYWARE, TRACKING ETC. ON MY COMPUTER. I'M AFRAID THAT OTHER PEOPLE WILL FALL FOR THIS. I REPORTED THIS TO MY STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL. I ADVISE EVERYONE TO DO THE SAME.

Said he was from Windows Service Center and my computer was sending out 'IP messages.; This is "very serious", I must turn it on right away and he will fix it for me. "TURN IT ON!!', he demanded or else my computer would never work again.
He had the nerve to shout at me and call back 3 more times.
My caller ID said FOOD BANK NYC. 212-777-3456 but when I dialed it answered "Helloooooo this is Moviephone" and went on with a sales pitch for something (I didn't wait to hear more)

Caller name: [unknown]

When I answered the incoming call, I recognized the same recording, from another number, 480-999-5637, on 9 July (14 days ago). It started "The FBI reports [some frequency of home break-ins]. If you let us put a sign in your yard, ..." I knew it was about a home security system, and didn't want to stay stuck on the phone with a recording, especially when I knew no instructions followed would actually put me on their own Do Not Call list.

When I used *69 to get the number from which the call was supposedly made, I got a recording that began "Hello, and welcome to Movie Phone!" Instructions to press various buttons for various options followed. I don't know if they could tell I was calling with my cell phone, to avoid long-distance charges. I waited without pressing any buttons, and the same recorded voice followed up with "If this isn't a mobile phone, press {I don''t recall what.]."

So now the one call center is using incoming calls such as mine to try for sales on another of their contracts. It's evil, but it makes sense for them.

Caller name: Changes each time

Receive call from (212) 777-3456 several times, Caller ID always changes (Sept 20 2013 2 Calls ID as Food bank NYC and Just the number). This is the same person with an Indian or Pakistani accent claiming they are with Microsoft and that I have a Windows Computer with a virus they must correct. When questioned, they become very rude and threatening toward myself and my family. These call occur several times each month, always the same guy, always the same story.

Caller name: not given

Both of my landlines received at least 6 calls (each) from this number today. Each time a caller with thick Indian accent claims to be from the Computer Security department, calling about my Windows Computer. Claimed something about an illegal copy of Windows being used from my IP address.
When I pressed them for details (company name, callback number, manager's name, base of operations, anything to verify their claim), they got defensive or just hung up.
In total I have received over thirty calls from these scammers in the last three days, using at least six different callerID numbers, Last few calls they just hung up after I said hello. I think they're waiting for a different voice to answer the phone?
I wish I could block them

Same as the rest of you, some silly person claiming to represent Windows Security and had been receiving "messages" (from the tin foil around his head?) that I was receiving malware, etc. I deal with these people all the time. Play with them. But whatever you do, don't let them access the system. I just enjoy wasting their time.
