Caller name: gbm Technet

Caller type: Scammer/Fraudster

I received first and one call today. They identified themselves as GBM Technet and an affiliate to microsoft. They claimed my computer was downloading viruses and needed me to log onto their server / website. I wouldn't do that because if it was a valid call, it would have come from my ISP or internet provider. If one were to do as they say, they could gain access to information on your computer... i.e. identification theft!! It's a scam! (212) 777-3456

Caller name: Claims to be from microsoft

Caller type: Unknown

Claims to be from Microsoft, wanted me to download a remote viewer on my computer to "show" me the virus' on my computer. The caller had a thick indian accent and got very upset when I explained I had a computer expert that would take care of my computer. He stated that someone could hack my computer. I replied that yes, he would if I let him. I had to hang up on him still arguing. To be on the safe side I went to microsoft site and ran an updated scan, computer was clean of all current problems that microsoft knows about. Imagine that.

Caller name: unknown Telemarketer SCAMMER

Caller type: Telemarketer

(212) 777-3456 Live telemarketing (and suspect phishing) call recorded 8 March 2018 (India Jay from "The Pain Center", 'records indicate you are affected by back, shoulder or knee pain...') SCAM!
Caller ID: "New York NY"

A misleading live screening, sales (and probably phishing) call suggesting that I may be eligible for a back brace to relieve pain if I have Medicare. These foreigners are trying to milk the system, and because they ask for the Medicare/Social Security number, I suspect it is also a phishing for identity theft scam, too.

I couldn't resist making a pun when she inquired if I had back or knee pain and I asked "my right knee or left knee?" and he guessed "both?" to which I replied 'Actually, I think it's my kid-knee.' Alas, he didn't understand. (see transcript, below)

Their "shotgun" approach to making mass phone calls, and their total disregard of the Do Not Call list certainly tells us a lot about their business ethic, doesn't it?

Here is a transcript of their unwanted, intrusive, insulting screening and sales call:

[This] call is now being recorded.

[male India voice:] "Hi. This is Jay calling from the Pain Center. How are you?"

[me:] "Hello? Fine."
[male India voice:] "Yes. Can you hear me ok?"

[me:] "Can now."
[male India voice:] "Alright. Case our records shows that you have a chronic joint pain in your back. Is that correct?"

[me:] "That is correct."
[male India voice:] "Yes you have a pain in your back, right?"

[me:] "Correct."
[male India voice:] "Alright, and the reason that we're calling you is you have been selected to receive a new state of the art medical brace at little or no cost to you. So by the way do you have Medicare?"

[me:] "Sorry, what?"
[male India voice:] "Um sir, do you have Medicare?"

[me:] "Yes, I do."
[male India voice:] "Alright perfect, by the way have you receive a brace from your insurance in the last five years?"

[me:] "No, never."
[male India voice:] "Alright well sir congratulations. It looks like you may qualify for a brace. So now would you go ahead and grab your red white and blue Medicare card. I'll hold while you get it. Okay?"

[me:] "Okay, you, you were breaking up. I didn't hear all of that. Could you repeat that?"
[male India voice:] "Oh, I'm sorry, you have a pain in your back right?"

[me:] "Correct."
[male India voice:] "Okay, so congratulations 'cause it looks like you may qualify for our brace so now would you go ahead and grab your red white and blue Medicare card. I'll hold while you got it. Okay?"

[me:] "Oh, okay, uh it's in my wallet which is in another room.
[male India voice:] "Alright. Well, let me know once you have it, sir, okay?"

[me:] "Alright. It's going to take me a minute. Just a moment.
[male India voice:] "Alright sir. Alright. Well, did you remember your Medicare ID number, sir?"

[me:] "Uh yes I do, it's my Social Security number."
[male India voice:] "Yes sir."

[me:] "Ready?"
[male India voice:] "Yes, so can I have... yes..."

[me:] "164-54-0182."
[male India voice:] "Alright, so I just need to double check sir your Medicare ID number is 164-54-0182. Correct?"

[me:] "That is correct."
[male India voice:] "Alright, and can I have your first name sir?"

[me:] "Yes. Thad."
[male India voice:] "Yes, can you spell out for me your first name?"

[me:] "Tea aich a dee."
[male India voice:] "Alright, Thad, tea aich a dee, right?"

[me:] "Correct."
[male India voice:] "A for alpha, correct?"

[me:] "Correct."
[male India voice:] "Alright, and your last name."

[me:] "Brunner."
[male India voice:] "Yes, well, can you spell out for me sir your last name?"

[me:] "Yeah, bee are you en en e are..."
[male India voice:] "I'm sorry?"

[me:] "Bee are you en en e are."
[male India voice:] "Alright Drunner. Yes, I just need to um repeat that. Dee are you en en e are, right?"

[me:] "Uh no, further is bee like boy."
[male India voice:] "Oh, alright, Bronner right?"

[me:] "Right, right."
[male India voice:] "All right? All right. Bee are you en en e for Echo. And are right?"

[me:] "Are, Romeo. Correct."
[male India voice:] "Um you're from the state of Pennsylvania, right?"

[me:] "That is correct."
[male India voice:] "Alright. Well by the way sir, can I have your date of birth?"

[me:] "Yes."
[male India voice:] "Yes, can I have your date of birth, sir."

[me:] "Yes, September 19th 1954."
[male India voice:] "Alright, well taken care for that. So sir um you're having a pain in your back, right, so how can you rate the pain level in your back from one to ten? Sir?"

[me:] "Uh what what what's low and what's high?"
[male India voice:] "Ten."

[me:] "Ten is what?"
[male India voice:] "Yes, how, yes, ten is the most painful, so how can you rate the pain level on your back from..."

[me:] "On a scale of 1 to 10, uh 7."
[male India voice:] "Yes, alright, uh so what I'm going to do now sir is submit your forms to our verification team so just stay in the line, okay?"

[me:] "Alright."
[male India voice:] "Alright so just stay on the line sir so um I should double check sir, your first name is sad, radner, sad, right? Tea aich, a for Alpha, and dee for dog right?"

[me:] "Right."
[male India voice:] "Alright, and your last name is Drunner dee are you en en e are, correct?"

[me:] "That is correct."
[male India voice:] "Okay, and you're from the state of Pennsylvania, and your phone number is x*x-yyy-zzzz"

[me:] "Uh yeah, you're reaching me at work. That's my work number.
[male India voice:] "Alright well your date of birth sir is September 19th 1954, correct?"

[me:] "Correct."
[male India voice:] "Okay, well, thank you for that. Well um can I have your complete address, sir?"

[me:] "Uh yes, I'm at 2380 Linden Street, that's in Wayne Pennsylvania 19088."
[male India voice:] "Yes well thank here for that. Um sir, how long exactly that you've been suffering a pain your back?"

[me:] "Oh more than ten years."
[male India voice:] "Alright. Well, thank you for that, so, um by the way sir do you have a knee pain, or do you have a pain in your shoulder, wrist or ankle?"

[me:] "Um, in my knee, do you mean my left knee or my right knee?"
[male India voice:] "Yes, sir. Is your both knee has a pain?"

[me:] "No actually. I think it's my kid-knee."
[male India voice:] "Oh I'm sorry. I said you only have a back pain, right?"

[me:] "Right."
[male India voice:] "Alright, well take care for that. So um can I have your Medicare ID number again, sir?"

[me:] "Uh yes, 164-54-0182"
[male India voice:] "Alright well thank care for that. Is that your Medicare ID number sir?"

[me:] "I'm sorry, what?"
Yes, is that your Medicare ID number?"

[me:] "Yes it is."
[male India voice:] "Alright sir, I just need to double-check 164-54-0182. Correct?"

[me:] "Correct."
[male India voice:] "Alright, sir, just um, they're sold here sir is invalid..."

[me:] "Uh does it say why?"
[male India voice:] "Alright. Well, maybe I have to call you back sir, okay?"

[me:] "Okay." [disconnect]

Both of my landlines received at least 6 calls (each) from this number today. Each time a caller with thick Indian accent claims to be from the Computer Security department, calling about my Windows Computer. Claimed something about an illegal copy of Windows being used from my IP address.
When I pressed them for details (company name, callback number, manager's name, base of operations, anything to verify their claim), they got defensive or just hung up.
In total I have received over thirty calls from these scammers in the last three days, using at least six different callerID numbers, Last few calls they just hung up after I said hello. I think they're waiting for a different voice to answer the phone?
I wish I could block them

I've received the same call several days in a row. At least twice now, I've angrily asked them to remove my number and quit calling me and have hung up on them.

I have received calls from this number for the past few nights and finally decided to answer it. Tonight someone called me at 10pm claiming I have downloaded spyware and malware and wants me to turn on my computer and follow steps to remove said items. I told her I have not downloaded anything lately and she kept arguing with that I had downloaded files that are infected. After I refused to follow her instructions she went silent on the phone. Definitely sounds like BS to me. Hope this company gets in trouble for the c**p they're pulling.

This company called US Financial Resources also called from another number (235-683-4810 reported this number too) stating I have been approved for a grant. I looked them up on the BBB (D-) site and its definitely a scam. They want a credit card number to process the already approved grant for $3.87. If you let them take your money they will charge your card $50 a month. I knew better to give my banking info since I didn't apply for a grant and I owe several thousands to the IRS. I told them when they called from the other number I wasn't interested so they called from this number. I told them again I wasn't interested and the man started yelling at me so I hung up.

This company is Moviefone or moviefone.com-------- checkout the website.
They are owned by AOL. Do you or have you ever done business with AOL ?
mail, AIM, Huffington Post etc etc etc. You can google all aol owned online websites.
If so you are screwed. They will keep calling. No Call Lists are worthless because you
have done business with AOL.
The only thing we can do as a group is Harass Moviefone and AOL until this is stopped !
Those of you who use a pay service with AOL MUST CALL and let them know you will
cancel your service if this isn't stopped !
Those of us who just use their mail and read Huff Post must use their FEEDBACK form
to let them know there is plenty of other free e-mail services out there to use as well as
free news outlets and we have no problem switching to one !!!
This has to be our own Social Media Group and Occupy AOL & Moviefone !!!
They have no right to Harass Us !!!! That is why you see such old messages on these boards !
AOL has been going broke for years and will stoop to no level, including Harassment to earn a buck !
It Is Up To Us Folks ! No One Will Do It For Us !

Received call from this number abt 9:30 PM on 9/21/16. An animated young woman's voice, with perhaps a Caribbean accent, claimed to be calling from Microsoft (?), and declared that hackers had taken over my computer, and were using it too flood the internet with viruses. She instructed me too log on to my computer, and she would "walk me thru" the steps to fix the problem. I did not!
(I wonder what that would have cost me!.)
There was a great deal of background noise, and when I asked about it, the call disconnected. The same number called back a minute late, but I did not answer.

This scenario is very similar to others reported elsewhere in this list, some dating back to 2012, or more.

He's trying to get me to believe that someone's hacked my internet and that there are errors being downloaded every time I connect. I told him there's nothing wrong with my computer and that I have an anti-virus program. He must think I'm stupid to insist that I go on my computer because "only they can fix it". This number called me. I listened and said nothing. I hear typing in the background, and someone breathing heavy in the phone. They hung up, and then I tried calling back. It said that they are closed because it is not business hours. They called during hours they are not in business?

Caller name: New York Food Bank

Caller type: Scammer/Fraudster

The caller first asked if I had a computer in my home. When I said that, yes, I have, he then claimed that the purpose of this call was to "remotely repair problems" with my system, and he was very insistant that I turn on my computer.

Of course I believed that about as much as I believe some politician in Nigeria wants to deposit 6.5 mil USD in my bank account, and all I've got to do is give him my personal information. ROFLMAO
