Caller name: health care?
Got a call today, pre-recorded to boot. It said something long the lines it had something to do with health care. Maybe insurance, who knows for sure.
I live in NC. I hung up on them. I have health insurance, as poor as it is. And I have never clicked something saying I was interested in more. Creeps!

This company is using an auto dialer, so they start with say, 209-220-0001, then 0002 and so on. This is how they got my work number.
If you still have a home phone, it is worth the money to buy a telezapper type devise to limit this type of call. The device will give off a signal that the phone has been disconnected, eventually removing your number from their list. If you answer this type of call it is worse, because they now have a confirmed number and it is then sold to other companies.
If on a android phone, several free apps are available to block, and track unwanted calls - Privacy Star, Mr Number, and, Calls Blacklist.
For Apple, iO7 has a built in feature.

Caller name: Carpet Care
Got a call on 5-8-13, caller ID said "Fresno 209 220-2357." I'm on the federal DNCL so strike #1. Fake caller ID, strike #2. Didn't identify themselves as Carpet Care until I asked, strike #3. Set up an estimate appointment at a fake address but the driver with no uniform or name tag showed up at my door anyway. When I opened the door all he said was "carpet." Started to shoot video of him and he covered his face saying in a heavy accent (Russian, Ukranian?) I was breaking the law taking his picture. Yeah, right. Followed him to the truck, a white Chevy panel van, which had NO name on it but got video of the license plate, CA 55491B1. Driver told me he'd call the cops, I said please do. Finally he got in his truck and drove off with the side door still open. You can't avoid these scum calling and if you mention the DNCL they curse at you and hang up. So I just try to waste as much of their time and resources as possible. Getting video was a bonus! The federal Do Not Call Registry is a toothless joke. I've read you can go to district court but it's a lot of work and you need to prove everything, that's why they spoof the caller ID.

Scary that now these crooks know where you live. How did they wind up at your house if you gave them a fake address? I was considering doing the same thing, but don't want any of these morons to know where I live.
Caller name: Fresno, CA
They say they are called Carpet Care, when I first asked where they are located, they said Lacey (my area). I asked for their address, she asked "why do you need that?" I replied, well, if I'm going to make an appointment, I want to know your address!" (Of course, I have no intention of making an appt.) She said, "we don't give out our private address!" I said,"well, I don't give out my phone #, and have asked you to remove me from your list!" She quickly hung up. I plan to have Verizon block this # from my phone.
Went dead when first answered ignored it the second time called.
They already know your name and address when they call.
I finally made an appointment and told them to leave because they were crooks for violating the "Do Not Call Registry" to begin with.
I used to get a call from them at least once a week.
The calls stopped once they realized that It was a waste of THEIR time.
It has worked with the garage door companies and contractors who are "in my neighborhood this week". Once the show up to an appointment, the calls will stop.

Same phone number as the others, caller id gives phone number and Fresno, CA.
Said I would agree to appt on Saturday from 1 to 4. Asked for company info, like address, and she hung up.
Guess they don't really want to clean your floor after all.
What a stupid way to run your business -- I would have gone ahead with the cleaning - now I'm wondering if they just want to "case" your place for future burglary or similar crime.
Said they were a carpet company. Pressed option 1 to make an apt when the immigrant answererd a female, I said why areyou calling my number when I am on the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY don't ever call me again, she hung up. Called the number back, only got an option of being put on a "DO NOT CALL LIST" PLEASE!!!

I'm so sick of these scammers - they need to get a clue - this old bird can't be scammed but I can turn the tables on them and scam them big time if they don't watch out. If I want carpets cleaned I know how to do it myself - I used to work for a legit company so I don't need any scam operation trying to swindle me out of my personal information. Scammers suck eggs.
