I don't know if Verizon claims any association with the number, but I definitely get calls from that number when my bill is overdue. When I paid my bill, the calls stopped immediately.

Its Verizon letting you know your cell service is scheduled to be disconnected because your bill is past due. At least that is what it was for me.

This number called my home land line and left a voice mail stating that they were Verizon Wireless and there has been a change in the status of the account of (They said my first and last name). They went on to say that I need to call them back in the next 24 hours and input cell number (they spouted off one of my kids phone numbers - which of course is in my name). They said call 800-249-2462 and input my cell number that they gave to me to find out about this status change. I didn't do it of course......I did however call Verizon Residential and Verizon Wireless and let them hear the voicemail for themselves. They confirmed that this is a phishing scheme. So watch out for this one!!!!

I work for a Verizon Premium Retailer, and we just got a call on our store landline with this number, and as soon as I finished saying my usual greeting (thank you for calling Verizon, yada yada yada) they hung up without letting their whole recording play. On our caller ID it said "VAROLII CORPORA" (which I am guessing should be "corporation") These messages are a scam. Verizon Wireless will never have you call and input your number into a system just to find out information. If we do request a return phone call, you will get a live person who will be able to use caller ID to tell what number you are calling from.

This number called my primary cell phone line with a recorded message stating that they were Verizon Wireless and there has been a change in the status of the account. Attempts to interact with them (press 1 to be connected to an agent) were futile. I hung up and called Verizon locally. They said my account was unchanged and fine.

I received a call from this number today, went through the prompts and got to the point where they were asking me my credit card details, and hung up. I then searched for the number using Google and arrived at this page, read all of the comments, and then I logged into my Verizon Wireless account using the web site and -- sure enough -- my balance was overdue and the dollar amount from the phone call accurately defined my balance. So although I won't be calling the phone number back -- I will be using the web site to pay -- I think it is a legitimate number used by Verizon Wireless in the way it describes with no scam or fraud. However I remain a tiny bit skeptical of any phone service for which I do not initiate the call. It's legit in my opinion but I wouldn't bet the bank on it, for no apparent advantage over using the web site.

I got 2 calls from the 206 number, which I didn't answer and then later I got a text message from Verizon about my account and to call an 800 number that was listed in the text message within 24 hours. I did a callback on the number that was on the text message and it was Verizon contacting me about a payment. I got curious about the 206 number and called Verizon later in the evening. The guy I talked to didn't recognize the 206 number but the 800 number was from Verizon. He said that the 206 number could be an outsourced number that Verizon uses but he wasn't sure.

I received a call from the 206-315-2010 number yesterday, and again today. I didn't pick up either one. No voicemail, but today I received a text saying to call Verizon in the next 24 hours because they need to speak with me.

My fiancee and I are on a family plan, and she is the primary account holder and takes care of the bill. The bill is up to date, and she has not received these calls, so I assumed something was up and googled the number. And now I'm here. I'll be reporting this to Verizon.

I also got text messages asking me to call 800-249-2462. I get these every time my bill is overdue.

My question would be: if these aren't from Verizon (which they don't seem to be), how does a third-party know that my bill is overdue?

Honestly, the calls from 206-315-3010 are basically reminders that I need to pay my bill. If Verizon isn't working with these guys, they owe them something.

It says it is Verizon. It asks me if I am a certain Person and if I am not that person press a certain number. There are several people living in our home. But the one they are calling has not lived here for over 4 years. If they have his cell phone number they need to call it not me. And how do they know who they are talking to when I always just let it go to voice mail. It is not even a live person calling. very annoying calls from early morning till after nine o'clock at nights.

Caller type: Scammer/Fraudster

I just received such a call but did not answer. My advice is don't pay anything unless you have a valid invoice. I received this call and I have not had Verizon for about four years. Maybe its a former employee with an aged database of phone numbers who is trying to get your money. One entry on google said Verizon is closing its Seattle operation... so disgruntled Seattle employee doing this??

MOST IMPORTANT---EVERYONE CALL THE FCC 888-225-5315 press 4 then 0 to file a FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH OUR GOVERNMENT AGENCY !!!!
The call went into my voice mail and was an automated voice telling me that there was a change in the status on my account. This was a "robotic voice" from an automatic dialer saying that I should call them Verizon Wireless at 800-249-2462. It said that I will be prompted to enter my phone number and should enter 610-207-6556 (the number the message was left on). It repeated that they were Verizon Wireless and it was urgent that I contact them. It hangs up then. This calls has come into my phone twice yesterday and many times recently. I was called Verizon (not the number given) and there is NO change in my account. I was checking on line the area code to find where the call was originating and saw this site to file a complaint. I saved the message in my voice mail if anyone would like to hear it. Thanks. EVERYONE SHOULD ALSO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE FCC AS I HAVE BY CALLING 888-225-5322 press 4 then 0 or file it on line at the FCC website !!!!! VERY IMPORTANT !!!!

It never asked me to verify my account like they always do and it immediately asked for credit card information but never gave me my balance. I called Verizon and my account was fine but I do not know how these scam artists got my number when I have it on the Do Not Call List.

The scams are becoming more sophisticated, so I strongly advise that one should "NEVER" provide sensitive data (e.g., name, SSN, credit card, DOB, drivers license, etc.) whenever you RECEIVE an unsolicited call, e-mail or mail from ANY source. Even if you have an account, you should do research (i.e., check your statement or visit their website) to confirm the main number and you INITIATE the contact after you've confirmed that you're communicating with that legitimate entity.

I also recently began receiving a daily call at the same time from 206-315-3010 claiming to be Verizon Wireless. I immediately became suspicious since I knew that I did not owe any funds and have never been late on this account.

Furthermore, as a recent former employee at VZW, I knew that this was not their standard operating procedures (or for most other legitimate companies). I called VZW directly and provided the Rep. with the 800-382-7114 number that I was directed to call. We both agreed that this was a phishing call / scam.

I have to agree with the others. This number & the accompanying text only hits me when my vz phone falls past due. Usually the same day I get a similar text from Verizon's 12digit *real* number.

My guess is it is some sort of third party ordeal.. perhaps vz's mobster-esque unit? Anyhow as someone else mentioned, I would never give my info..

Got both a text and 2 voice messages from this number and I double checked that I have absolutely nothing that is even due right now let alone past due. I could stop paying all bills for 2 months without having anything past due at this point and have gotten 2 calls and a text so far. The text originated from 67753.

They may be a collection agency as others have suggested but they may also just be doing research on how to contact people. That's some very valuable information to the right (or wrong) people.
