They continue to call a work cell.. If you answer it cuts you off.. If you dont no message. This company is known for being RUDE RUDE RUDE.. they will come after you with a vengence.. I have delt with them in the past.. I do not owe them money now and I cringe to think why they are calling... Probably after what they were already paid. They should be out of business. Horrid people to deal with.. Paid to be demeaning asses!

Caller name: Portfolio Recovery

This is Portfolio Recovery. It is a Collection Agency and is located in Birmingham, AL. PR uses auto-dialers. Check the statutes in your state. If it is unlawful to cause a phone to ring using an auto-dialer, find an attorney that handles these cases and file suit. Bank of America phoned me numerous times, AFTER being told I was NOT the person they were calling for, nor did I know that individual. I filed suit and was awarded (my share) $5,000. Document, document, document these calls. You have to do your homework.

Tell them you are recording the conversation also. These bottom feeders of the bill collection world will likely hang up immediately! Learned a lot of very valuable info from a thread on another sight that directed me to the FTC website. You're looking for the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collectin Practices Act). I started at Section 804 because I dealt with someone (actually two people) yesterday- the first one telling me he was a process server with papers FOR ME! Did the same thing to my spouse at work saying he had papers FOR HIM. He gave me an 800 # which I called and found out they were looking for a relative! They violated so many sections of the FDCPA I lost count in addition to scaring me half to death and now I'm so angry after a night of no sleep that I will be filing a complaint with the FTC which you can also do at their website. Good luck. It's a pain in the rear to pursue these jerks but will be worth it in the end especially if they keep it up and end up having to write you a big fat check (it happens more often than you might think!).

This number rang at 2 pm Monday 13 April 2014. Dropped what I was doing and ran upstairs to answer phone. Picked up receiver and line almost immediately went dead. Tried to ring back and got engaged tone.

Caller name: Portfolio Recovery

Please see my reply post on page 4. You CAN get rid of these vermin. It will take some time and effort but you sound like you're wearing yourself out already. Put that energy into going after them instead and with their record of ignoring the FTC's rules, you might just end up with them having a judge order them to pay you! Good luck.

this company appears to be either a scam or a last ditch effort to collect debts they have bought from other companies for pennies on a dollar. they debt they are atempting to collect from be was a credit card i never remember having that was maxed out at 500 and never paid on in 2001. i think someone may have stolen my info and got it in my name but they want all of my infor so they can investigate. not gonna happen! this has never ever shown up on my credit report. block the number and dont worry about it.

This company calls every day from different phone numbers. When I answer they have already hung up or it as gone to voicemail. However they do not leave a message. I spoke to them about a year ago and they are trying to collect fom a relative. As they have hounded and harassed us for a few months now I would never give them the satisfaction of providing information. There should be a law against this.

They call at all hours day and night. Have called on Sunday. Set up cell phone to reject their numbers and don't answer my home phone. They buy up debts from years ago and try to collect. It is illegal since the statute of limitation has expired. Only a matter of time before a class action suit is filed against them. Just keep hanging up or not answering until the suit shuts them down. Only other company that is worse is Santander. Thank goodness they got sued!

Second phone call in under a week. Cut off as soon as answered. Tried to phone back but number not registering at all. Just a nuisance.

Caller name: Portfolio Recovery

My Phone number isn't even registered in my name...how did they get my number? The debt I supposedly owe is expired on my credit report...No messages ever left and like many others if I do answer I get hung up on. The reason for this is that they can keep your "debt" open simply by you answering the phone. Don't talk to them...ignore/block the calls. They must be stalkers because my number is NOWHERE to be found....it's not in my name and it's a new number!!!!

Caller name: Portfolio Recovery Debt Collectors

Portfolio Recovery buys old debt that no one else wants and tries to harass people into paying. Do not answer when they call, DO NOT talk to them. Ignore them. If you talk to them, they could start the whole ball rolling again. The statue of limitations for suing someone in court over unpaid debt in California is 4 years. After 4 years, they can't do anything to collect a debt. Nothing. They can not garnish your paycheck or do anything after 4 years in California. Look up the law in your own state, google 'statue of limitations debt (your state)'. After 7 years, all negative marks on your credit report are removed too.

Debt collectors attempting to collect on a 14-year-old debt that was written off years ago. These guys pay a fraction of a cent for legally-uncollectible debt and try to get something for it. Don't fall for it, don't answer and whatever you do, do NOT make a "good faith" token payment - it may reset the statute of limitations and make you liable for the original debt, in full.
