The Called Me about a credit card I had in college that I wasn't responsible with from 12 years ago. The odd thing is that I have a card from the same company now with a higher limit. There is laws that protect us. If the debt is over 4 year old from last activity then you could be awarded $1000 for the harassment. Go to

Caller name: Something recovery.....

Called collecting for a Walmart credit card. Actual company is in Virginia. Professional enough that when I told them I would respond in writing via mail she said "Oh Wow". Hey, at least she has a job in this economy. Good for her.

Is not that they're (Portfolio Recovery) like many other low life debt collectors out there, these guys actually are among the more professional debt collectors - hard to believe, isn't it? However because they buy leads and debt in bulk, they acquire old and statute expired debt, right along with legitimate ones. Unfortunately is not going to help their bottom line to try to figure which is which, so they go after all of them. It gets nasty when they work an account for a while and there is no pay off. At that point for all their grand standings, their agents act no different that any other low life debt collector. And no - they will not listen to any arguments about the debt is old, paid off, or not your. All they want is some money (10 to 30 cents on the dollar) so they can get the supervisors off their back and maybe get a bonus. This company is a big one so they know how to get around federal rules. If you want to get them off of you, go through your state's authorities.

called them one time after they left some scary message about a subpoena with my employer and he starts asking me about an old debt that was part of a bankruptcy years ago. Gave me the bs about someone coming to serve me that day and how lucky iwas to have called...that was ayear ago. Now they leave messages from a hidden number talking About a restraining Order and have for hours to call..put it this way, if they had a legitimate debt, they could pursue legal channels but they do not.they are hoping you Get scared and pay them.

I just got this number three months ago and have been harassed by these people. I don't appreciate it, and have taken their number, found their physical address in Birmingham, Alabama, and am taking steps to file a suit against them for interstate phone harassment.

Calls everyday starting at 8:30 am, 3 to 4 times during the day, and also have called after 8:00 pm, when I answer they either hang up or put me on hold. Finally just quit answering, let it go to voicemail, but they never leave message.
