Caller name: Clanton AL per caller ID;
I've received numerous calls from 205-280-0212 which shows up as Clanton AL on our caller ID. It's always a man with an Indian accent eager to get me to believe he's from Microsoft calling to fix my computer. I usually don't answer now or I chew them out on the phone and hang up. When they first started calling, I pretended to go along to see what they wanted. They wanted me to run an EXE file on my computer. Another time I told them I had a mac and they hung up. When I am in need of a laugh and can spare some time, I string the jerks along by phone and tell them that I'm doing everything they say. Then I tell them I'm using only an ipad. They won't stop calling, so my advice is to not answer the phone at all. They might keep calling me because I had played along initially....I wish there was a way to shut them down because they are probably making money duping people somewhere.
I saw this number on my elderly mother's caller id and started investigating. She doesn't remember talking to anyone, which is scary, but on the other hand if it was the same guy he would have found out that she doesn't have a computer......
Caller name: "Microsoft technical support"
Call from man with a heavy Indian accent claiming that he was from "Microsoft Technical Support". Microsoft does not provide this service EVER. I have tried to "explain" to then that I know exactly what they are doing to no avail.
Found that the easiest way to get rid of them is to tell them you don't have a computer, they don't don't know how to handle that and give up!
Caller name: mike
Mike Called @ 3:00 pm.EST
Same thing as above, says Windows tech. support my computer is causing system errors and wants access to my computer to fix it.
When I tell him ,when I have error messages my computer sends a form to Microsoft about the error, and to hold on and I'll check the error reports myself.
He gets bent out of shape and says I am trying to F#$% him and his family...
Yes I replied politely, that is (EXACTLY) what I am doing!
In ( my ) thick India accent...
FWIW... If you type in the command prompt you will give them total control to change anything that (THEY) want to change.
I remember the Windows 3.1 days... Guess who they hired for Tech. support???
People from India...
called 3 times today, when I answered he (with broken english) said that my computer was sending error messages and if I didn't let them fix it then the FBI would lock my computer. I told him I did not believe a word he said and that my computer was fine. He tried again to intimidate me with the FBI will shut down my computer (I have done nothing illegal). I specifically asked him who he works for and he said Windows service center. I told him I did not believe a word he was saying and hung up
Caller name: Max Desouza
Called from 205-280-0212. Said he's from
Help Support for Windows Computer.
He said he's calling from 302-261-9242
I said I'm on the National Do Not Call List and I would make a complaint but the government is shut down and I cannot file a complaint right now. (I tried yesterday and it was shut down. There was a call from the same number in Alabama.)
The man said, with an Indian accent, I believe, "But you're not on the International Call List." He then proceeded to tell me that it would cost a lot of money to be on "that" list. I kept saying. I want to be off your list. Take me off your list. He finally mumbled something like ok, and then the call ended. I'm not sure I believe this guy.
Too many of these calls! Unnecessary. This guy should find a better job.
Caller name: Can't understand them!
I've been getting repeated phone calls from this phone number. Broken English is really bad. At first they were calling and hanging up when I answered. Now they are belligerent phone calls telling me my computer is compromised and that they know who I am. Its calls to a deceased persons phone. I told them they are full of BS and they hang up. The next time they called I answered and said I was calling the police and they hung up. This is unnecessary and should be stopped!
Caller name: Unknown, repeatedly hangs up on us
People from this d**n phone number keep calling us early in the morning then there's no one there. After repeatedly saying "hello" over & over - they just hang up on us.
The worst thing that makes me want to PUNISH these callers is that WE ARE ON A NIGHT SCHEDULE so we've just got in after a long night and got to bed only to be woken up 2hrs later by these jerks. It's like a dayshift person getting a hang-up call at 2:30am. It wakes us up, gets us mad & blood pressure skyrocketing and then it's hard to go back to sleep right away. Our ISP lets us only block 12 numbers so blocking is no longer an option. Besides WE ARE ON THE DO NOT CALL LIST and what a joke, we're constantly called at all hours day & night. I wish I could hook up a TAZER into the phone line to send a message of my own to the caller
Caller name: Windows Security Team
Call several times a day claiming to be with Windows Security team. Different person each time but all have an Indian accent. Traced the # to a couple in AL but when I tried to call back I got a message saying the # was disconnected. Asked to stop but we'll see
This guy won't quit calling. Same song and dance...your computer is sending distress signal.. He told me his name was Jack Dawson and his Microsoft tech. ID# 134891. I think he was lying and I have no clue who's if anyone number and name that they have used! I don't understand how this number can be disconnected and yet still make calls?
Caller name: didn't say
This man with an accent who was rude because I told him I didn't want to talk to him especially after he told me my computer had been reported (I'm thinking reported to who??) so I told him I didn't have a computer. He said "Why not?" I just hung up on him and I'm hoping he doesn't call back because he had been calling almost everyday. I get several calls a day from all over the US even though I am also on the "Do Not Call List". I'm not sure what the answer is to this growing problem.
Same story as many other complaints. They claim to be from Microsoft and need access to computer to "fix " it. Totally not possible, yet they know how to sound convincing. I still get calls and either ignore or hang up. I would block it if I knew how. These are vultures preying on people who do not understand computers. How can stop them?
Caller name: Mike
This afternoon was the fourth call in 3 days from these people, today's caller said his name was Mike even though he was obviously not American. Gave me the same line as the rest of the reporters and swore he was not trying to sell me anything after I told him I am on the Do Not Call list. I asked him where he got my phone number and he told me there is a separate department at Windows that gathers that information. I asked to speak to someone in that department, or a supervisor and he asked "why". I finally told him I was calling the Attorney General's office and he said "OK" and hung up.
