They called me too, asking for my address to send the check to, I felt like it was a scam. Good things like that just dont happen. $7000 for not having a felony or bancruptcy etc....I feel stupid for saying my age, not my birthday, by my age. I hope I didn't get myself scammed!!

Broken english people, you can never trust them over the phone. Not being racist, but when have you ever heard about or personally experience anything but bad things from these people.

Caller name: US Grants Department

Just got the same call, same number, same horrendous accent, offering the same $7,000 from the federal government basically for being a good citizen in the right demographic. They really shouldn't call a white middle aged small business owner and try to use the "I'm in the right demographic" angle to sell that my government is giving me ANYTHING. Everyone knows the US Government is in the TAKING business, not giving, especially when it comes to my demographic.

Anyway, all I had to do was call some Brian Jackson guy back to confirm and the money would be wire to my local Western Union office.

It was a little creepy when the guy with that kind of accent had my correct information (name, address). I guess when you consider we live in the age that I can Google my own name and a couple clicks latter I am looking at a drive by image of my house, it is not so surprising. Still creepy!!!

Bottom line... never, ever, ever, under any circumstance, ever give out information to any unknown person unless you called them (and I'm not talking about calling that Brian Jackson guy back, that doesn't count).

Caller name: ricki Cooper

I keep getting calls from the district of columbia. Each time they call me from a different number. They tell me I'm qualified for a grant of $7000 which I never have to pay back. I told the man that I know this is a scam and he kept saying it wasn't. I wish these people would be put behind bars and stop calling me.

The first time I got this call they hung up after I said 'Hello'. So I called them back and an person with an Indian/Hindu accent said "I didn't call you!". Now the calls are endless with no message ever left.

Going to block the number since I am finally checking it out for legitimacy

Caller name: Didn't answer

I have been getting calls from this number as well, many times, and sometimes 3-4 times a day. Well, I got very frustrated and googled this number to see if it is a legit number/business. Of course, nothing came up except for these complaints. So, I have this number blocked so I won't get any more calls. After I did this, I went and registered, AGAIN, on the DO NOT CALL website.

Hope this helps. I believe if you have iphones with the latest update, you can block the number.

Caller name: says he is from the Government Grant office

Caller said he was from the Government Grant office, I told him I was not interested and that we were on a do not call list and asked him NOT to call back, remove me from the list as I am not interested. He then started to tell me to f_ _ _ off and continued this for the remainder of the 40 seconds. I did tell him I was going to report him for the harassment but again his response was the above.

Caller name: ?

Ya, I just got one of these calls 2 minutes ago. It's 1:54 pst. 010914 Thursday. I went to the link about how to be put on the do not call list. http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0113-government-grant-scams

When I first answered the call, I didn't hear anybody. I paused, the I heard a young make say, "hello, hello"? Then a frustrated tone in his voice, then a hang up sound. I Googled this number: 202-621-5429. I immediately got on do not call list, and book marked this number titled scam call. I tried to call back to see if any body would answer but the phone line was busy. Imagine that? Very interesting. I did telemarketing for about four years, but I never did telemarketing like that! Here is how I deal with these kind of calls. I really really slow, "heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeellooooooooooooooooooooo" over and over and over again and again, until they give up! It's hilarious to them say that things like, "never mind"! Have fun with that! Some people never grow up. Or are natural dirt bags? I think I will write a song about this! hehe....cheers!

this number keeps on calling me on mobile. when i pick it up there is no response from the other side. When i call it back the ring goes for 10-11 seconds and then it cuts off automatically.

Caller name: JENNY MILLER

I got that same call today and was told the exact same thing. $7000. The lady said 17,000 people were chose by the Govt. to receive this grant money who are low income and paid their bills on time and have had no bankruptcies in the last 6 months. She gave me Max Williams (speaks an Asian accent) phone number 202-738-1068 and he gave me the same instructions to go to Western Union Bank to deposit $320 security deposit in order to receive the grant money in the total amount of $7320. I'M NOT STUPID .....GUESS I SOUNDED THAT WAY TO HIM!!! Why would I pay to receive money. I was given 3 options to get the money too.... cash, my personal bank account or MC/VISA card.

Difficult to believe this c**p continues right under the government's nose. Or maybe I should believe it. Anyway, persons calling are foreign, barely legible, and I thought they target people who have learning disabilities, or maybe I'm wrong here, too. Gotta stop. With so many complaints, why isn't FCC invertening?

Said I was selected for a government grant for 7000 dollars. As a college student, and entering for different grants I thought that maybe it was legit at first. I told the guy that I needed a phone number, company name and his name to call back for verification purposes. He didn't speak clear english and he kept saying that I was selected and he needed to know where to send my money to. I just hung up, knowing that it was a stupid scam.

This call sounded like it was from the Phillipines. They asked for me by my first name - when I asked "who is this"? the caller hung up. My number is unlisted and is in fact according to phone company records in the name of my ex-wife. So how they got my first name is a mystery to me. Lookout for these Pigs.

Caller name: Alex

Alex called saying he's with the federal government grant department & I've been selected to receive $7,700+ that I didn't have to pay tax on or report. When I asked him to confirm his phone umber he had reached the limits of his compression in English and could only confirm the a/c. I advised that if he were a fraud he should hang up and not waist my time. Slowly, he did so.

He wasn't smart enough to hang up when I started to ask him questions.

I have received a call from this number more times than I care to. It's always regarding something about me receiving $1700 from the government, the IRS to be exact and always someone foreign.
I requested that since they had my info to send me what they were talking about in writing, afterwhich they hung. Received the call the again about the same d**n issue and they wanted me to send them my credit card information so I could receive the $1700. I said no and hung up. I blocked them from my cell phone number
