I just received a phone call from this number saying that I was picked to receive a $7000 government grant that I do not have to pay back. I was given a code to use when calling Fiona at 206-621-5429. You people can not hardly speak english and do not let anybody ask any questions, you just hang up. TIME TO GET A JOB AND QUIT TRYING TO SCAM PEOPLE!!!!! Verizon Wireless has been contacted with with this fraud #.
Just received call from Washington DC (202) 621-5429 about being eligible for $7,000 grant. The woman had a thick Asian accent and Knew my name, address, and phone number. She then told me that I was to receive a Grant from the US government for $7,000, and asked how I wanted to receive it, bank transfer, VISA/MasterCard, or cash. I told her that I was unsure about this and chose the cash option. She then instructed me to call Fiona Farmer at (206) 866-5749, the verification center, with a Grant authorization number (AK004). Smelling a scam, I immediately searched the numbers and found this website. Needless to say, I am not proceeding further with this "Grant" money.
I wonder how many people fall for this type of scam. Obviously enough to keep the same one running.
Writing this for you, the victim of identity theft.
Hardly speeks english
Knows my name number and adress
I'm thinking, .....GREAT!
Then she goes on talking bout the feds and some grant money, 7000. Gives me the 3 options I play along and she gives me the 2068665749 # and the code.
I don't recommend calling the number with your phone!
These a-holes called today, Thanksgiving @ 6:17PM. Who the h**l are they and what do they want? I never answer any call that is not from an identifiable number that I recognize. What good is all the millions we pour into the Do Not Call agency? Just another useless, money sucking federal agency.
Received call, said I would receive a one-time grant of $7,000. I should spend it on a good purpose. Gave me an I.D. number. Then I was to call another number (in "Washington D.C.) to talk to a supervisor who would explain everything. This man said I should send $347.00, then I could have the the $7,000. And the $347 would be reimbursed. He cut me right off when I said I didn't have any money.
Received several calls from what my caller ID identified as Washington DC 202-621-5429, when I finally decided to answer the phone it was somebody speaking from an obviously very busy call center telling me I was selected to receive a $7000 grant, gave me an approval number, a name and phone number to call. The lady was barely speaking English, so when she asked about my address I asked to identify themselves first, she said they work for the US Government from Washington, then I asked under what department, and she kept just saying we are legal…we are legal. Smelling the scam, I just asked if you are really operating in Washington what is the weather over there right now, she couldn’t answer and started yelling, then I asked give me a name of a local TV channel, she couldn’t, after a while I told her you are doing something that would lead you to jail, she started getting nervous then just hung up. be careful people they are scammer.
They called and told me that I qualified for a $7,000 grant because I filled out a survey. When they tried to verify my information I told them I didn't feel comfortable confirming my information. They tried to convince me they were just verifying and when I said no again the said f**k You and hung up the phone.
Just got the same call, same number, same horrendous accent, offering the same $7,000 from the federal government basically for being a good citizen in the right demographic. They really shouldn't call a white middle aged small business owner and try to use the "I'm in the right demographic" angle to sell that my government is giving me ANYTHING. Everyone knows the US Government is in the TAKING business, not giving, especially when it comes to my demographic.
Anyway, all I had to do was call some Brian Jackson guy back to confirm and the money would be wire to my local Western Union office.
It was a little creepy when the guy with that kind of accent had my correct information (name, address). I guess when you consider we live in the age that I can Google my own name and a couple clicks latter I am looking at a drive by image of my house, it is not so surprising. Still creepy!!!
Bottom line... never, ever, ever, under any circumstance, ever give out information to any unknown person unless you called them (and I'm not talking about calling that Brian Jackson guy back, that doesn't count).
Ya, I just got one of these calls 2 minutes ago. It's 1:54 pst. 010914 Thursday. I went to the link about how to be put on the do not call list. http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0113-government-grant-scams
When I first answered the call, I didn't hear anybody. I paused, the I heard a young make say, "hello, hello"? Then a frustrated tone in his voice, then a hang up sound. I Googled this number: 202-621-5429. I immediately got on do not call list, and book marked this number titled scam call. I tried to call back to see if any body would answer but the phone line was busy. Imagine that? Very interesting. I did telemarketing for about four years, but I never did telemarketing like that! Here is how I deal with these kind of calls. I really really slow, "heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeellooooooooooooooooooooo" over and over and over again and again, until they give up! It's hilarious to them say that things like, "never mind"! Have fun with that! Some people never grow up. Or are natural dirt bags? I think I will write a song about this! hehe....cheers!
This is the 8th time that these idiots have called telling me that because I have no criminal record that I will receive a $7,000.00 grant from the U.S Gov. and how would I like to receive it , either through my bank account or in cash. I cussed out this mid-eastern accented woman and told her she would be reported. If you call back the # ,you get a recording that states her # does not receive call. SCAM!!!! BEWARE
I got that same call today and was told the exact same thing. $7000. The lady said 17,000 people were chose by the Govt. to receive this grant money who are low income and paid their bills on time and have had no bankruptcies in the last 6 months. She gave me Max Williams (speaks an Asian accent) phone number 202-738-1068 and he gave me the same instructions to go to Western Union Bank to deposit $320 security deposit in order to receive the grant money in the total amount of $7320. I'M NOT STUPID .....GUESS I SOUNDED THAT WAY TO HIM!!! Why would I pay to receive money. I was given 3 options to get the money too.... cash, my personal bank account or MC/VISA card.
