multiple calls in the last couple of weeks, i decided to pick up today. someone that bearly spoke english and with a lot of background noice, like if he was at a market or something. same experience as most, took a moment to answer, then told me that i was chosen to receive a 7000 dollar grant, just needed to confirm some info. i told him that i was not confirming anything over the phone since this was a non trustworhty call and i tried calling the number back once and it was never accepting calls back. he got upset stating that if i did not conform th info i would not get the grant and hung up.

Received multiple calls from this number. person was showing himself as some official from US Government. and was asking personal information over call. Since I have heard about these calls earlier thru other channels so I immediately asked few question with a strong voice and then that guy started hesitating and cut the call.

Request you all, DO NOT address any such call and DO NOT share your personal details. US Govt staff always send formal notice and never approach individuals over phone. Along with that I also have seen examples where some fraud agencies calling individuals and asking for money showing themselves as USCIS/Border & Security staff. Kindly note that most of the time visa extension/related requests are made through your organization and applicant's contact number never shared with USCIS and if they have anything further to ask, they always route the same communication track through which the request was sent to USCIS department.

So ALL, please keep a note of this and stay away from such fake callers.
Thank you.

When I answered it took a moment for someone to reply, it was someone that barely spoke English. They said I was selected for a government grant of 7000 they call constantly and even after telling them I'm not interested. When you tell them you're not interested they're very rude and hang up on me but within an hour or so they call back.

Ya, I just got one of these calls 2 minutes ago. It's 1:54 pst. 010914 Thursday. I went to the link about how to be put on the do not call list. http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0113-government-grant-scams

When I first answered the call, I didn't hear anybody. I paused, the I heard a young make say, "hello, hello"? Then a frustrated tone in his voice, then a hang up sound. I Googled this number: 202-621-5429. I immediately got on do not call list, and book marked this number titled scam call. I tried to call back to see if any body would answer but the phone line was busy. Imagine that? Very interesting. I did telemarketing for about four years, but I never did telemarketing like that! Here is how I deal with these kind of calls. I really really slow, "heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeellooooooooooooooooooooo" over and over and over again and again, until they give up! It's hilarious to them say that things like, "never mind"! Have fun with that! Some people never grow up. Or are natural dirt bags? I think I will write a song about this! hehe....cheers!

I then asked where it was located and got the reply of "Washington, DC". I then asked for her supervisor and was hung up on. Called back and a non working number.

Caller name: Kevin Peterson

Caller type: Scammer/Fraudster

Just got off the line with this guy "Kevin Peterson". I only answered because I am expecting phone calls from unknown numbers in order to discuss job opportunities in other states. This guy had an Arab accent and I believe he said his name was "Kevin/Kalvin Peterson". He advised me that based on a demographic survey of my area (which he got COMPLETELY WRONG by the way). He then provides me with the following information:

Grant Approval#: KV125
Need to contact Mgr at: 202.697.9274
Mgr Name: Lisa Raye

He stated that I needed to contact her and she would provide me with the details of this offer. I asked if this required a visit to Western Union and he replied No.
He then asked if I lived in Grand Prairie, TX and I replied 'No, I live in Frisco.' He then asked me to verify my zip. I told him that if he was calling from the US Government he should already have that information. He then moved on (because obviously he couldn't very well say that he wasn't actually the government) and asked me to verify my age so that he could be sure I was over 18. I told the liar I was 27 (wish I could turn back time that fast)... I then asked him if they could send all of this wonderful information to me on an official US Government letterhead (we do have the right to ask companies/entities to do that) and he said "Well, just contact the Manager and she will inform you of 'all that'." Got off the line with him and ran a Google Search and now I'm here posting this for any others who may have been contacted.

Received call, said I would receive a one-time grant of $7,000. I should spend it on a good purpose. Gave me an I.D. number. Then I was to call another number (in "Washington D.C.) to talk to a supervisor who would explain everything. This man said I should send $347.00, then I could have the the $7,000. And the $347 would be reimbursed. He cut me right off when I said I didn't have any money.

I cussed out this mid-eastern accented woman and told her she would be reported. If you call back the # ,you get a recording that states her # does not receive call. SCAM!!!! BEWARE

There is a reason why they don't try to be more believable. It's intentional.

They are looking for people who are not smart.

Same reason why you get the misspelled emails. They don't waste their time on anyone with a clue. Sad.

I got that same call today and was told the exact same thing. $7000. The lady said 17,000 people were chose by the Govt. to receive this grant money who are low income and paid their bills on time and have had no bankruptcies in the last 6 months. She gave me Max Williams (speaks an Asian accent) phone number 202-738-1068 and he gave me the same instructions to go to Western Union Bank to deposit $320 security deposit in order to receive the grant money in the total amount of $7320. I'M NOT STUPID .....GUESS I SOUNDED THAT WAY TO HIM!!! Why would I pay to receive money. I was given 3 options to get the money too.... cash, my personal bank account or MC/VISA card.

Obviously this woke me up and I asked several time "who is this" and "what do you need"? He kept asking "is this (my name)? Then he started asking me EXTREMELY SEXUAL/ EXPLICIT questions!!!! I told him I was tracing the call and my phone was tapped. He abruptly hung up. I tried to call back and was unable to get through.
