a scam - I knew it immediately - the government does not make telemarketing calls to anyone - if they want to reach you, you will receive a letter in the mail and you may have to sign for it!

Caller name: "Federal Government"

Caller type: Scammer/Fraudster

Said they selected me at random to receive a $7,000 grant from the federal government because I didn't have a criminal background and paid my bills on time. I let him continue and he stated I could receive the funds through a wire transfer (Western Union, MoneyGram, etc). When I pressed him to tell me which department of the federal government he was calling from, he hung up. I tried to call back and it was a Google Voice number.

Call is terminated by the caller after I pick up. I suspect they are first making the call and then only checking their "do not call" list once they know they have reached a live person.

It is easy to recognize someone speaking from a call center. The man provided his alleged affiliation with a so-called "U.S. Federal Grants Department". I told him that the call was a scam. He repeatedly nagged me to tell him how I could know that he was a fraud. I commented that such was obvious, and hung up.
